Ain't it funny . . .

I was sewing last night, thinking about how long it has been since I have written a post and noticing how time slips away.

It's been one of those weeks where I have only done little things

like slapping a coat of green paint on an old window frame

and adding greenery to a wire wreath.

I'm still organizing the house after having 3 rooms painted

and hung my favorite hand on the wall - IG friends were unanimous that I should keep the hand at an angle.

A year ago I took a felting class and made the little black cat

and the other night I got out the felting supplies to try my hand at mice - hey, it's a first attempt!

I used some old book pages and my metal stencils

to create a B O O banner

and took apart three necklaces

to create a rustic garland

to embellish the Halloween display in the guest room.

My favorite addition to the decor is a 1944 edition of the Tales of Edgar Allan Poe that I found in the attic.

I also found my little hedgehog in the attic

and added him to a bouquet of tulips in the entry.

and there's that wreath all finished.

Time has gotten away with me again this morning

and Steve & Lulu are telling me that it's time to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous fall day.

Time for a change ...

I've been thinking about changing vignettes around the house

because so many bloggers are talking about fall and pictures on Instagram reflect the season's colors.

We don't really have a fall season,

but last night as I fell asleep, ideas for a new mantel design floated through my head - instead of counting sheep!

I had no firm idea of how I would decorate the mantel when I got up this morning,

but I took everything nautical off the mantel and dumped it on the guest room bed.

When I stopped to take a picture for my blog post, I noticed all the clocks on the ladder and suddenly I knew what I wanted to do.

Every clock came off the ladder and I found a few more in my garden house.

I had a lot of fun creating this mantel.

Clocks were moved from side to side of the mantel

and moved from back to front and back again until I felt like I had it right.

I always like using words in my vignettes and a Tim Holtz metal piece "live in the moment" seemed to fit with the "TIME" theme.

The St. Etienne Chocolate piece looks like a clock, but it is actually an old CD with a cut out of a clock glued to it - found on the blog Tongue and Cheek a couple of year's ago.

According to the poem, the mouse is supposed to "run up the clock", but this mouse is just hiding among the clocks.

I received a book of alphabetized quotes from Sugarboo Designs the other day and I was sure there would be one for time.

This message really made me think about how I spend my hours each day.

The last touch was to tuck dried tree branches into the clock displays.

The mantel was all I accomplished today so tonight as I fall asleep,

I'll be dreaming of ways to decorate the ladder now that the clocks are gone.
