LIFE - a great bundle of little things

Lately, I have been taking the time to enjoy all the little things in my daily life

We savor our daily walks along the beach.

 It's lobster season

and we have been finding buoys washed up on the sand.

With a little spray paint and masking tape

Steve transformed the buoys and created a colorful display on our new fence.

The corner by the fence looked a little plain so I moved an old bench from the side of the house and went shopping for plants.

I always go a little nuts at the nursery so my rain boots got some fresh flowers

as did my grandpa's coal bucket - it wasn't red in his day!

Moving to the back yard, I added pansies to my grapevine basket,

my olive bucket and

to my grandpa's watering can - it wasn't yellow in his day!

I prefer to buy plants rather than cut flowers, but I couldn't pass up sunflowers.

It's been a bundle of little things round here,

but that's LIFE.

Keep It Simple

I made the sign a year ago to hang by the garage door, but it was in the way of our new gate.

I moved it to my potting bench temporarily and in doing so, I really thought about the message.

This week, I am

keeping it simple.

Yesterday I washed and folded 24 IKEA towels - Steve and I use them in place of paper towels.

I worked a little in the garden,

moved the table so Steve no longer gets scratched by rose thorns while we eat,

and planted flowers in the wicker basket.

I kept my goals simple for today too by sewing a bag for an Instagram friend,

cutting out a few Christmas items to sew,

walking to the park with Lulu,

cleaning the kitchen and then messing it up again

by baking brownies.

We have absolutely no plans for tomorrow other than keeping it simple.

We'll definitely walk to the park.

Maybe I'll make pillows out of the these IKEA towels.

Or maybe, I'll simply doodle all day.

Diary of a Dilly Dallier

When I got up this morning, my plan was to take this cabinet from red to blue.

But, while eating breakfast, I noticed that the flowers in the centerpiece on the table were wilting and needed to be replaced.

First, I needed to change the table runner

and create a new centerpiece.

With that done, I decided that I should go ahead and set the table for dinner.

Setting the table seemed to take longer than usual

because I decided the yellow bowls needed embellishment.

The table setting was finally finished, but that cabinet was still red -

I should have painted the cabinet next, but the elements for the centerpiece were stolen from my little red wagon and I needed to something about it.

Instead of creating a new vignette with the wagon, I decided to move the little blue table to the garden house.

As you can see from this photo, I had to move lots of things out of the garden house.

By the time I finished the rearranging, it was noon and the cabinet was still red.

Normally by this time, we would be heading to the beach with Lulu, but we had a carpenter building a gate by the garage and were tied to the house.

Instead of taking a walk, I grabbed the Federal Blue milk paint and tackled the cabinet.

I am happy with the change, but Steve hates change and messes so I quickly got the cabinet back into place - I have to wax the cabinet tomorrow.

By 4:00 p.m., my morning goal was complete and Lulu,

who had been waiting all day, got her walk to the beach.

In the end, I wasn't a dilly dallier after all because that would mean I don't accomplish things.

And it's a good thing that I'm not a dilly dallier because the carpenter says I need to get paint on the wood right away.
