Spring on the Porch

Spring is here and participating in a Spring Home Tour was the perfect motivation to get me decorating - I chose the Entryway and Porches category.

I have 3 doors and thus 3 porches to decorate, but the main challenge was that it began raining the minute I brought home plants to decorate the porches.

I started with the back porch because I could work in the rain.

Trader Joe's had jasmine which is perfect hanging above the table made from my grandmother's sewing machine base.

I tied little bottles onto an old metal screen and snipped flowers from the garden.

I love using words in decor so wooden letters with magnets on the back are perfect on the screen.

Mini rose bushes fill a favorite metal basket.

Even in the rain we keep the door open and I love this happy view.

I am focused on using what I have this year so when I started spiffing up the garden shed, I simply borrowed this little ladder from another part of the garden.

It started raining while I was was decorating the the front of the shed so I organized inside while I waited out the rain.

I moved the old milk can outside during Christmas and decided it looks cute next to the shed door and it will look even better when the plant starts blooming.

I had to wait a couple of days between decorating the back and the front because of rain.

While I waited I created a new arrangement for the front door.

I love how the basket looks on the door, but the clouds are the winners in this shot.

Our old Adirondack chair is falling apart and I almost tossed it, but I decided a basket of flowers would keep anyone from sitting on the chair.

The buoys are beach finds -

Steve paints them pretty colors to liven up the porch.

Now that my porches are decorated for spring,

I'm going to check out all the inspiration on the Spring Home Tour.

I'm thrilled to be joining in today as 28 talented bloggers bring you the best of spring for all throughout the home! Please continue along this inspiring tour, and visit the other participants in each of the following categories.

  4. Your porch always makes me so happy, Carol! I love the way you've decorated each one. I swear you put together flower combinations and containers I would never think about and I love how it challenges me to think outside how I usually decorate. Hope you're staying well, hugs to you and Steve, CoCo

  6. Wow, Carol--how cool that you have three separate entrance areas to decorate! Many times, I have competing ideas that I want to try, and it would be awesome to have more doors! Also, I am totally in love with your idea to tie the little bottles to the screen. You've inspired me big time, my friend! I can't wait to find a place to do something similar! xo, Kristi

  15. Love it all Carol. So pretty and bright for Spring. I see your shed and cannot wait to begin to work on mine. Wish we could have some of that nice California sunshine. I know you have had rain but the sun I am sure will be back soon. We are seeing dark and gloomy days and no sunshine. Hoping this weekend to see the sun pop out. Love all your porches and doors and spring decor. xoxo

  17. Good morning Carol!

To come to sit on your front porch is a delightful reprise from what I've been having to learn over this past week, on-line, about how we will be delivering instruction after our spring break. Thank you for the pause.

  19. Hi Carol! Beautiful! Thank you! You inspired me with your wooden letters on the screen. I have magnetic metal birds on my back screen door. They are rusted. You inspired me to make something (I haven't decided what yet) and add my own magnets and spruce up that spring door. It has an overhang, so I can pretty much use anything. Hmm, the creative wheels are turning. Thank You!
    Happy Spring!

  23. Each porch is so pretty with all the beautiful colorful flowers. I love how you use old things (ladder, chair, basket, etc.) to spiff up the areas.. gives me some inspiration to go scout out some more old things for my garden scapes! You have inspired me before, and I have managed to find a cute little miniature ice cream chair (about 2 feet high) that I painted pink, an old pink metal flamingo, a cute little child's bench (painted red), an old wood pallet fence hanger that I painted white and actually planted some flowers in last year.. and I've painted an old metal mailbox pink too. It's such fun! You continue to inspired me.. now I need to find an old small wooden ladder! xox Marilyn
