In the last few weeks, while I have been absent from social media, other bloggers were so sweet to feature my accounts.
Last week, Kristi of French Creek Farmhouse did a shout out to Steve and me on both her blog and her Instagram account @frenchcreekfarmhouse .
Brenda of Cozy Little House wrote a post titled, Living Large in Little Houses: Carol's House, where she talked about our colorful home and how much we use our outdoor spaces.
Kristi had us both in tears as we read her sweet post, but I laughed when I read this paragraph in her post.
I laughed because I think of our house as mostly white these days.
I created my new blog header before I read Kristi's post.

Then I looked at the photos Kristi chose to use in her post and I saw that while there is white, our house is definitely full of color.
I thought most of the color at our cottage was in the garden.

These are all wonderful features, Carol! You have such a lovely home!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your features!! You do use color beautifully! White goes with everything and makes colors pop!
ReplyDeleteLove your new header!
Despite the white walls, you have always used colors beautifully, Carol ~
ReplyDeleteGentle hugs to the both of you ~
and scritches to Lulu ~
Carol your home is so deserving of these features. Love love seeing your pretty cottage by the sea.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,
Kris
CAROL! I was so happy to hear from you yesterday on IG that you'd be posting a blog post. I have missed you greatly. Then I saw you visited my blog post too! Yes my friend, what would the walls of your home say if they could speak?
ReplyDeleteWell you know that I've always loved your style even if I tend to shy away from the primary colors. But like I mentioned yesterday on IG to you, I am starting to like yellow. That sweet white flower with the yellow center, what is that?
You my dear, deserve a daily dose of rest and relaxation but also a walk on the beach, a new vintage piece or just a lounge out under the sun. Whatever you do today, be at peace, smile and know you are well-loved.
When I think of you, Carol, I always think of your colorful and beautiful cottage and garden. Congratulations on the features, well-deserved. Hoping each day is rejuvenating!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely home. I enjoyed this post very much. Have a blessed day and week. Madeline
ReplyDeleteWell deserved features my friend. When I see your home I always see color, warmth and love. You and Steve do this beautiful cottage proud.

Congrats on all of the features of your beautiful home Carol. I hope you both are on the mend and feeling better each day. Take is easy!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely fills up my heart to read this! Of course I could never have known how much impact my post would have on you, but the insight you talk about is truly inspiring to me. You are so right...the white in your home is like a canvas where you use color so beautifully. I think this is what I was trying to convey when I said that I have met few people who do this in the same way as you. I told you this the other day, but I'll say it here again--you are truly an artist, my friend! I'm so blessed to know you and get to benefit from the inspiration you share every day. xo, Kristi
That's what I've done with my apartment. The backdrop is neutrals but on top are lots of color. Hope you're healing fast.

Carol, I shudder to say this because it makes me sound like such a messy slob (which I confess to sometimes being!) Finally my office was making me crazy and I started going through piles and found a Country Sampler -- probably sometime last year but who knows. It was a deep pile! And there you were, your beautiful, airy, lovely home with Steve's paintings and such a reminder of the spring and summer they tell us will come (though sometimes I wonder...)! And no, I didn't toss it! I need the motivation!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought of your house and gardens as colorful! It seems like you've incorporated a lot more white into your overall look indoors, but you still use a lot of color. The white is a perfect backdrop for all the reds, blues and yellows - and some green! Your color schemes and decor have always been one of my faves. Hope you and Steve are coming along well in your healing process.
ReplyDeleteI think of your home as airy and bright with light, white, and pops of colour. You have such great style!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so beautiful, Carol.
ReplyDeleteI long for summer when I see the photos,
Wishing you lovely days,
Hugs, Ida
Hi Carol, if I closely examine your photos I do see a lot of white, but what overshadows it, I think, are your beautiful, clear and bright (but very soft) colors that you accessorize with. I know it must be so beautiful in person, but I think your camera takes the prettiest shots of the colors. I always look forward to your posts because of the colors. It always feels like looking through the eyes of summer..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteAs a big fan of color I LOVE your posts here and on IG! I pair color with plenty of white too. It's so happy.
ReplyDeleteCarol, you know I love color and you do it so well. So happy to see you posting again. I hope this means you're feeling better...and Steve, too!
ReplyDeleteLove the features and I do love how you use color. Girl...you are a pro. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteEven with all the white, I will always think of your place full of color... in your home and especially your beautiful garden! I've always loved it since the first day I came across you. =]
ReplyDeleteAlways so inspirational.....always so beautiful
ReplyDeleteI definitely think of your cottage as colorful, especially Steve's art.
ReplyDeleteSo serene and beautiful! Carol, what you have done with your cottage is an excellent treat for eyes. Couldn’t take away my eyes from the colorful garden!! You are right , white is just the perfect canvas for all these colors. Keep enchanting us with the beauty you create. I’ll be waiting for more beautiful posts from you.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a lovely home, Carol. I'm impressed and grabbed a few ideas to set up mine. Initially, it all looked white, but the collage popped the colors and made it all pretty. I love everything about your house, especially the quote that matches well. True living is living large in small houses.
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely pictures! So many beautiful thing´s...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Life in a cottage is like music for me. I am sure you are having a good time in your white armoured cottage. White goes well with every other colors and makes the space look wider and beautiful. Pastels are used well. I would have used blues instead of pastels.
