a picture is worth a thousand words

I am having difficulty with my right hand -  after 4 months of pain and 2 months of physical therapy, the x-rays show that I have injuries to the wrist- whatever that means.

Typing is getting more and more difficult (I don't see the hand specialist for 3 more weeks) so for today, few words accompany the pictures of fun sightings around town.

Pirates of the Caribbean . . .

where's my mommy? . . .

Lulu barked angrily at the people riding the big dogs . . .

a scramble up the rocks to avoid the low flying plane . .

I want . . .

no, maybe this one . . .

 croquet on the lawn? . . .

magical music on the jetty . . .

"sing us a song you're the piano man" . . .

and finally, my little garden house is ready for it's close-up.

I will be visiting you, but please forgive me for not leaving comments - my hand is killing me after typing these few words.

  1. Love the photos and the garden shed is adorable!!! So sorry about your hand. I had a wrist injury once that rears it's ugly head once in awhile and I literally can't do anything with that hand. Wishing you healing and don't worry about comments.
    hugs,
    Linda

  2. I'm so sorry about your hand/wrist causing you so much pain and hope you have some answers and healing really soon. These photos are stunning. It looks so nice hot and sunny there and just so much colour and fun things. That plane!!?? The houses on the beach, music on the beach, your sunny living room and cute shed - all beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I'm tired of the snow and cold here so this was a pick me up. I'm going to look at the pics again. Take care. Hugs. Pam

  5. Glorious photos! I'm sorry about your hand, and hope it heals on its own. My knee has bothered me occasionally since my years of dance, but this past week it hurt so badly after hours at the antique mall, I could barely limp out to my car (a first). I don't like this at all, and I hope it goes away. Take care, Carol.

  6. With a picture being worth a thousand words, you didn't have to say much, they could speak for themselves. Your garden shed is just adorable. IT looks fresh and new and so colorful inside and out. I'm sorry about your hand/wrist. That sounds so painful. Well at least you can take your wonderful walks I hope.

  8. I am so sorry to hear you are having hand and wrist pain. Could be nerves or tendons...guess you'll find out. I get pain in my wrist, hand and fingers every so often...I had it about six months ago for a few weeks and then it finally just went away. That happened to me about two years ago, too. Very weird. Like you, I could barely type. Forget texting or writing with a pen - even worse. Anyway, your photos are just gorgeous. xoxo

  15. I love your little garden house! You should see my hands, right thumb and wrists. Surgical scars all over them from surgeries. They had to take a tendon out of my right arm to wrap around my right thumb because the cartilige was gone. Sucks when there's cold weather, because the arthritis really makes it hard to do much of anything. Wish I could take photos there on the beach. I'd be in heaven.

  39. Oh Carol, what a GORGEOUS tour of your world. That violinist on the beach.....now THAT'S romance. The piano man too, the HORSES on the beach (according to Miz Lulu, the BIG DOGS!) and the rest is a story told by the eyes. My friend, I pray your hand heals soon; your creative tools need to be well so you can continue to give us the gorgeous view of your table vignettes, your garden excursions, your heart. Your garden shed is PERFECT! Peace and healing, Anita

  42. Carol,
I am so sorry to hear about your hand and wrist. Having to wait to see a specialist is frustrating I'm sure. I hope you are immobilizing your wrist with a supportive brace. I have bi lateral carpal tunnel and I sleep with immobilzers and they are a very helpful.
Your photo essay is stunning and thank you for sharing your hand concerns. Ask the doctor lots of questions, take care and get better.

  49. I sure hope you get some satisfactory answers from the specialist, and that you heal up soon. I just loved these photos ... such amazing things you see at the beach!! Horses, planes, musicians ... such fun. I was once visiting my BFF at her family cottage when we were teens. We were at the far end of the lake where there was just wilderness and no cottages. Suddenly a motor boat pulled up along the rocky shore, dropped off a young kid and then quickly sped away. The young boy pulled out a trumpet and started playing! We weren't sure if his parents had had enough of the noise (I recall it was rather rough playing), or if he requested the drop off, but it was all so funny and made us laugh. Wendy

  52. Pretty photos...Carol can you wear or are you wearing a brace of any sort such as a carpal tunnel brace? I will occasionally have wrist pain whether from sewing or even sleeping wrong and it stemming from my neck and I wear a brace for a few days and it helps so much

I have that one for one hand and a diffferent sort for the other when I get pain in the thumb area ( I suppose from sewing as well ) Got them at the drugstore...

  57. Good Morning Carol, I am so sorry to hear about your hand. Did you injure it or did the pain just come on naturally? While looking through your photos, I came to the conclusion that "now I have seen everything" . . . a piano on the beach! You Californians know how to use your beaches and how to enjoy life :) I am so pleased that you like that little banner . . . it looks cute in your garden house. I hope that your doctor finds the problem and that it can be cured with very little treatment. You are in my prayers.

  58. I'm sorry to read about your hand giving you trouble, Carol. I hope it's just a temporary problem; it's a pity you have to week several weeks for the specialist to see it.

  64. I'm so sorry about your hand(s).....they're so taken for granted until we don't have use of them! And you're so creative so to not have the use of your hands is a loss for all of us. I loved the pictures and your garden shed...what can I say? Too darn cute!!!
If your hands don't get better maybe I could be your hands as I have those but not your creativity. You could send me the supplies, tell what to do and I could send it back to you! LOL! No garden sheds though. Take care sweetie.

  68. Your pictures say it all, Carol. I love where you live! I can only dream of walks along the beach this time of year. Your garden shed is adorable. Sorry about your wrist! Hopefully they will be able to get it fixed up. I sprain my right wrist about once or twice a year {I'm right handed} and most of my life it has been this way. Not sure what is wrong but I wrap it and try to use it as less as possible until it heals again. The physio therapist can't feel anything wrong in there. He checked it out when I was getting my back worked on. So when it sprains again, I will pay him a visit. Take it easy, although I know that's not easy either. Happy Valentines week!

    Blessings,
    Sandi
