I've Got the Blues

I have slowly been working on my 2018 goals

and although changing the color palette throughout the house wasn't one of my goals,

it seems to be the happening with each change.

Making a new cover for the window seat cushion was high on the list.

The dining room plate racks are filled with blue and white dishes

so I chose a blue and white plaid fabric.

A year ago my sister-in-law gave me the white fabric which was perfect because it has just a little bit of texture.

I struggled to find another fabric for 2 more pillows and then one day I walked into Marshalls to find the perfect pillows to finish off the bench.

The next change was difficult for me to make -

I loved the dining room chairs in red, but they clashed with many of Steve' paintings

and the blue chairs compliment his art.

The room looks "put together" now.

I've definitely got the blues -  blue and white dishes,

 blue and white pillows

 blue and white cushion ...

and even a blue and white house.

Having the blues means being depressed, but I don't know how anyone could be sad around this happy combo.

  1. And that first photo of the dishes and the towel is a magazine-worthy photo! I prefer blue over red any day, though you have always mastered it in your décor. But for a beach cottage? Blue is the color of happiness. LOVE IT ALL, Carol!

  2. I love what you have done. I have also been changing colors in our home. I have been adding more white and blue to most of the house, but to my sewing room I have been adding lots of color.

  10. Blue and white is my new obsession, Carol. Of course with so many red wall around here, it would be hard to implement, but I do love looking at your new decor! Enjoy it...I'm off to pin it!

  11. Carol, I love the change. Of course, that is not to say that I didn't like the primary colors. I loved the look of your seaside cottage. It's equally as pretty now, just different. The softness of blue and white is so relaxing. And I have to say, I LOVE the color of the chairs. I admire your energy. I seem to be stalled on the home front. So much I need or want to do, but here I sit with my laptop visiting blogs. Glad I didn't miss this lovely post!

  19. Blue and white is always the top combination in my book. There's a lot of it in my home, too. I do like your new look. There are still a few touches of red here and there, I notice. Don't get rid of it all. Love that dining room plate rack.
