Welcome to the Transitioning from Summer to Fall Home Tours
organized by Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home.
If you are visiting from Panoply, doesn't Rita style her vintage collections beautifully!
Summer actually lasts way into October in my neck of the woods
and days like this are common even in November.
The easiest way for me to transition from summer to fall is with flowers.
I have noticed seasonal changes happening at the flower stands - oranges and yellows are taking over.
With my basic color palette of blue and white, adding fall flowers is really about all I need to change things up.
Lantana from the garden changes from summer to fall simply by using an old metal container instead of a vase.
A quick flip on the old red chair turns a summer garden
into a fall garden.
The eucalyptus leaves on this wreath have faded to a dull brownish green
and simply exchanging the dried roses with wilted sunflowers
creates a fall look in the entry.
I am far from finished with fall decor, but I'm inspired - these napkins are my next project and they won't be on the table.
I'm scouring Instagram and Pinterest for ideas for a new sign to hide the television.
How about you - are you transitioning to fall?
.... .... .... .... .... .... .... ....
Now it's time to head over to Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson to see what fabulous ideas Jann has for you.

Enjoy your day
Cindy
Such beautiful flowers for Fall and blue and yellow are always favorites.
ReplyDeleteNot ready just yet for the touch of Fall but soon. I love how just changing out a few things brings a new color palette into a room.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even begun to think about fall yet! Still have a month...and I'm holding on to every bit of summer. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love to visit you for inspiration and it always leaves me happy. Wow that you get beautiful days into November. I love that about where you live.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty little nods to fall, particularly with the sunflowers, which I think are the ultimate summer to fall transitional flower. Your little wire hearts are so sweet! Enjoy your long fall weather!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty touches of fall you have added to your home. I see we are kindred spirits in our love of blue and white! I agree it does look perfect with all different types of flowers. It has been so much fun to be on the tour with you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great ideas. I can always count on you for inspiration :) I'm so busy canning and cleaning after our two week visit with our granddaughters that I have only started to think about Fall. I have never in my life missed a weekly cleaning day, but while they were here I decided to just enjoy :) We had a marvelous visit and now it's time to do some deep cleaning, LOL. Thanks for the great ideas.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week.
Connie :)
Your summer lasts almost as long as ours. I love the changes you've made, they really do look like a fall transition.
ReplyDeleteLove that you are using soft transitions into fall. I am a summer girl but look forward to some lighter cooler days of fall soon. Nice crisp mornings and sweater weather. Love seeing all the wonderful ideas.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
I love Lantana! We have it in our yard as well. It's a wonder addition to your fall decor.
ReplyDeleteCarol I just love how you incorporate flowers into your decor and simply change out containers to evoke seasonal changes. I have just fallen in love with the little wilted sunflowers you have shared. I am going to go see if I can find some spent sunflowers somewhere or buy some and let them wilt since I don't have any sunflowers. I am going to plant some for next year.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the tour! Enjoy all of the beautiful dreamy coastal summer weather while it lasts!
You can do no wrong in my book, Carol! Love the way you just suggest that fall is around the corner. :)
ReplyDeleteCarol, love your subtle touches! Sunflowers are always a fall go to for me, and I love your sweet wreaths. I've got to make one or two. Your garden chair is so cute and I love that you can simply flip the sign around!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann

Love all of the pictures. I love your flowers Carol. Such wonderful inspiration. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWe don't have flower market around here so I have to get to the grocery store to get flowers and the selection is small. I think how you are using the yellow and orange flowers is perfect for transitioning to fall. Nice to be with you in this hop.
ReplyDeleteLove all your decorations. I am starting my transition into fall decorations also, I use a lot of sunflowers. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love the golds and oranges added to your blue and white scheme; perfect! So fun to see how all the different climates add fall to their decor!
ReplyDeleteGive me a little yellow, a little blue and a chippy chair and I am a happy woman. Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favorite season so I am loving seeing your pretty decorations. I love that quote by Emerson!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! lots of color during all the seasons.....that's what I like too!
ReplyDeleteCarol. everything is beautiful as always. Blue and white with your touches of red are just made for fall colors, I think. I have to say again, I just love your photos. I am beginning to change over to fall in the house as the garden has whether I was ready for it or not. This is one season that I don't mind rushing a little bit and hoping that it stays a little longer..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteLovely simple changes, Carol. Like you, fall is a long way off for us, and the hot temps don't make me think of cozy fall evenings. Still, I love fall and the russet colors. I've packed my patriotic things away, and like you, using flowers to offer a change. Sunflowers and zinnias are my current choice!
ReplyDeleteA sign to cover the tv! What an excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks fabulous!
Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage

{sigh}... I must have flowers, and even when there are none in my garden, I know I can come visit you, Carol, and your California garden. I love how you've dried your sunflowers and roses into simple little wired designs. Cottage love.
ReplyDeleteI don't do a lot of fall decorating...I do love sunflowers and that is pretty much all I do....right now with temps still in the high 90's, I'm not thinking of fall decorating.
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to seeing your new TV cover up!
ReplyDeleteI so agree about using flowers to transition through the seasons. I adore you use of flowers. That sign idea to cover the TV is genius!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love all the fresh touches in your home and garden for late summer! I especially love your entryway... so charming! And that wreath is just perfect! So happy to be on the home tours with you!

I love all of your simple transitions to fall! You have created such lovely spaces with your florals. So happy to be on this tour with you.
ReplyDeletegreat idea of what to do with vintage crotchet. Love the fall florals.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Carol! Thanks for visiting my blog post! Yes, looking at the positive side of life, taking a drink from a glass half full so to speak, is the best way to go, isn't it! Hey, you haven't had to clean house for a while, so that is a blessing! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, This is my first time to visit your blog. Your photos are lovely and brightened my day. I'm trying my hand at Instagram and followed your page there for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteCarol I always love how you incorporate flowers! Those sunfloers are gorgeous! Beautiful transitions my friend and enjoy that beach for me!
ReplyDeleteLove all your fall transitions and the yellow flowers! I love Lantana.. had some beautiful ones in my garden last year, but not this year.. mine were all peach and yellow and pink... just wonderful! I'm curious what you're going to do with those napkins! I'm going to go take a trip to the other blogs now... finally have time as have had company (again) and the preparation time beforehand.... so now can take some time and browse all the wonderful Fall blogs. I haven't done a thing for Fall yet.. as we're still in the heat wave here... and really no Fall flowers to speak of here. Maybe in October I will make some of the plaid flannel pumpkins I've wanted to make for YEARS... and put them on m f/p mantle!! I'm a little slow to the draw! Hugs.. Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to think about transitioning into fall. Yellow flowers are always a good place to start!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your blog. I feel so land locked in North Texas and hardly ever get to visit the seaside. I grew up in DE and we always went to the beach a few times each summer. When I was in the Navy I was stationed in San Diego for a tour and loved CA.
