Where does the time go?

I noticed this morning that it's been over a month since I wrote a blog post

and I'm not sure why.

I have loads of pictures saved in folders on my desk top for a variety of blog posts,

but I haven't taken the time to sit down to write.

The entry has a fresh blue and white look

and Easter decor is popping up here and there.

I replaced a red EAT sign in the kitchen with a metal sign.

I've been quite busy rearranging furniture in the house - a dresser from the guest room is now in our bedroom, but I haven't taken a photo yet.

I've gone with a softer,

more feminine look in the guest room.

So I was really excited to find this fun cabinet at The Great Junk Hunt last week.

I found this cabinet at a local shop, The Tattered Door, a few weeks ago, but I'm not finished organizing the living room and I only have this picture.

I have been doing lots of work in the garden - new flowers are popping up all over.

I posted this garden pic on Instagram 11 days ago and was happy that my photo inspired someone-

because today on Instagram @lindamayclarkart posted her version of my garden.

And I'm pleased to say that changing something in each of these rooms was on my 2018 goals list and they were both completed before March 1 - I'll be showing you soon.

Writing this post showed me just where the time is going -

I'm spending it doing all the things I love to do.

  2. Lovely Carol, hello!

Your world is sunny and promising toward brighter days for us in the Midwest and the East Coast. What a tumultuous season of snow, ice and wind many of us have had.

May you continue to well up with that joy that comes from the freedom of retirement. I will be 60 next month, and for the first time I realized that if I'm lucky, or rather, BLESSED to live long enough (and barring any unexpected situatons), I may only have 10 to 20 years left on this planet. I hope to retire SOON and enjoy all the little things around me more.

HAVE FUN for me today, will ya?

  4. I'm glad you found the time to write today's post :). What paint color did you use on that pretty blue hutch? I need a shade just like that.

    Have a great day Carol!

  5. Carol, You are killing me . HA. All your pictures are wonderful. I saw the blue and white, and thought, wow I want to do that. Then I see the yellow and green and I want some of that too. LOL I always love seeing into your gardens. I have been wanting to make myself a plant chair forever...well since I have lived here. I even have one in the garage attic. Thanks for always inspiring me. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. There is nothing better than rearranging and puttering - one of my favorite past-times! Now if only spring would hurry and get here, I can be playing in my yard and gardens, too.

Everything in your home is always so gorgeous, but I have to say, the one photo that especially stood out to me is the blue and white in your entryway. One of my favorite color combos has always been the classic blue and white, so I guess that's why. And no one does vignettes quite like you. You have the magic touch! :-)

  7. Carol you change your home up so much that the dust bunnies don't have a chance . . . don't you feel a little bit sorry for them? LOL
Everything is beautiful, your guests must feel so pampered staying in your lovely guest room. Oh, and your garden, it is always amazing. Love the cute cabinets, too. Did you have to get rid of anything to make room for them?
    Have a lovely week.
    Connie :)

I think we have some time before that will happen so until then I will bask in all the pretty pics you girls out West are showing. Enjoy that beautiful California weather.

  12. Glad to see someone else is finding it difficult to find the time to write a blog post. For some reason it seems spring is so inviting . . .new season, new décor, new flowers, new projects . . .that the days just get away from me. Wish we had a source for wonderful old furniture finds here. . .your new pieces inspired me. . .keep the posts coming as you have time. I look forward to them.

  13. Good to see your beautiful post! I’ll have to follow you on IG to keep up with your many changes. I find I’m not posting much these days, either. Lots of other nice things fill my days but I do like to keep up with blogging friends so try to put something up every month. Have a beautiful Spring!!

  14. Just when I think I couldn't love your cottage any more, you mix the decor and I fall in love all over again. That blue entry vignette and the kitchen yellows and greens (and th mix in the guestroom too)....just love them all, Carol. Your sunny garden appears to be the perfect temperature for happy flowers everywhere. Yours is my dream cottage.....{sigh}

  16. Don't feel bad about not posting for a month. I have had such a hard time posting for so long that I'm wondering why anyone shows up now. I figured they would have given up on me long ago. Life just gets in the way, even if it's spent decorating a sweet cottage, like you've been doing :)

Your grand baby is adorable, by the way :)
