A Scatterbrained Ditz

Several years ago, someone meeting me for the first time, later described me as "a scatterbrained ditz with a short attention span".

Fortunately, that person is no longer in my life, because I think I'm pretty good about starting a project and seeing it through.

Yesterday I painted and stenciled a chippy old box and now Steve has a little herb garden on the porch.

This morning I was cutting flowers in the garden

when I noticed the window hanging over a garden bench was looking sad.

I may be a little bit ditzy because I dropped the flowers and headed to the computer to look for a quote for the window.

I found this cute sign at The Country Workshop so I grabbed my stencils to embellish the window.

I went back to cutting flowers to create a bouquet.

Then I had to snap a pic for Instagram,

but after I posted the picture, I thought the space looked lopsided

and needed a little height by the flowers.

The GARDEN sign was just leaning against a bench in the garden so it was added to the flowers.

And of course I had to take another photo

or maybe a whole bunch of photos and I ended up moving the flowers into the house.

Then I remembered that I started rearranging the entry on Tuesday and I haven't finished it yet.

Okay, maybe I am a scatterbrained ditz!

  1. No your not. Maybe the woman that made the comment is a ditz.

Your are always making beautiful vignette's, sewing, painting and working in the garden.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  2. Not scatter-brained or attention deficient.............just busy, creative and multi-tasking often, that's all.

Your creations are fabulous and look awesome and, well, keep up the good work, regardless of how many different things you do prior to completion, right?

    Have a very happy weekend!

  8. I had to laugh, because I'm sure this is what people have said about me too. Then your description of yourself, sounded so familiar to me.

Creative people are always moving from one thing to the next, it is part of the process.

Keep having fun and being creative. Your posts are a delight to many.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

  9. Funny! You made me think of the children's books featuring a little mouse "When you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk...." and it goes on and on how one thing leads to another throughout the whole book to the end. Not scatterbrained, very creative!

  10. Hmmm is that another way to say creative genius?? Because you certainly are my dear! and anyone who feels the need to criticize others is not happy in his/her own soul.

    Have a wonderful day! xo

  11. You were smart to no longer keep company with someone who would be so rude! I unfortunately have to work with a few folks that I can't avoid, and who have taken liberties to say unflattering and unedifying things about me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we create, we are creating not only the beauty we see, but it shows us who we are. We are vigorous visionaries who get the job done when we say it's done!

Awesome work. Love what you did with the window, Carol!

  17. Funny how we always remember the unkind comments :( I can't believe the variety of flowers you have blooming right now. My fall things bloomed really early this year and I think they'll be done long before fall decor season. I always enjoy seeing your creations, I don't think you're a ditz at all :)

  18. Well, you are delightful and the world would be a better place if more of us were 'scatterbrained ditzes with short attention spans!' I bet your 'friend' was just jealous!!

  19. Carol, You make me laugh. There's times I think we can all fall into that category or one near it. Let's start a club. LOL I loved the herb box...sweet. The window with the quote is cute too. I think you are a lover of life and enjoy sharing it.. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  22. One thing leads to another at our house too. People who aren't scattered brained don't get anything done.

  23. Love your projects. ditz? I don't think so.

  24. If you're a scattered brain ditz, what does that make me? lol! Far from it girl. You are an amazingly talented gal. Yeah, sometimes you get side tracked, but don't we all? That's what makes life so fun for us ditz! :)

  25. You get more done than I do every single day. I'm glad that rude person is no longer in your life.

  26. I think that's terrible that someone said that about you! You are far from a scatterbrained ditz. Creative and energetic, yes!

  27. If a ditz can be defined as a person who decorates her home in a delightful and dazzling manner, than you are definitely the epitome of ditz and I am a ditz wannabe!:))

  28. That's a word that can encompass a lot. I think creative for the most part. You are 'all over the place' and thats a good thing.

I love the window and the stenciled words are perfect. I think it just looks a little lonely on that wall...perhaps something on each side??? I'm sue you will figure it our, my friend!

  30. I think people who have a creative touch and an eye for possibility might just be scatterbrained -- but in the best sense of the word! They have so many ideas and enthusiasm that they can't focus on just one project at a time, their creativity is spewing in far too many directions. I'd far rather be scatterbrained than organized and focused! Great post~

  31. Don't you just love what comes out of people's mouths sometimes. I think since we love change and being creative in our spaces we can be a little Ditzy. I would look at that as a compliment lol! Love your stencil on the window. Looks wonderful Carol.
    Have a great new week.

  33. You are not even on my ditz radar. I really love the quote for your window. So cute!

  34. Do you think it really is that creative people move/jump from one thing to another? I've always had trouble staying focussed on one project...there are just so many out there. But then again, I know in my case that procrastination definitely plays a part. We're all different and unique, and that is just what is so special!!!

  35. You just have lots of ideas and a good eye for what needs or wants to be done! At least you came back to things you started!

  36. You are just creative. Love all the pictures.
Sometimes I go from one thing to the next and back again. Sometimes I will totally walk around in a circle before I decide where to stop.
    Love the window.

  45. I think there's a little scatterbrain ditz in all of us at one time or the other. Then for some it's 100% but I believe you fit in that category.
    I know I'm about 40% there. LOL
    Love the new re-arrangements
