Steve said he was tired of the blue and white display on the kitchen shelves and believe me I try to keep the head chef happy.
I love yellow
and thought it would be a nice accent color in the kitchen.
3 vintage English plates with a sweet floral pattern took center stage on the shelves.
With the plates stacked on top of each other, the pattern didn't show at all so I used a letter holder to balance the plates.
Yellow trimmed cups hanging from the letter holder add a touch of whimsy.
I raided the cupboards for any more yellow pieces,
kept a little bit of blue and white on the shelves
I love the cheerfulness of yellow
so I perked up the dining room
with yellow flatware and roses.
And now, I'm off to the garden to find some yellow flowers for the living room.
Hi Carol, I love the dots and stripes..with the yellow. The roses are truly beautiful. I am thinking it's time for me to rearrange some things here. Just about time for an autumn display. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLove the brightness of yellow--looking good in your kitchen, and yellow roses (my fav) in your dining room! It's so nice to "shop the house" and find a whole new look!
ReplyDeleteYellow is cheery! I like what you did. You have a real knack for decorating and pulling things together.

Good stylin job there! Bet the chef is happy now.....cause
yellow is such a happy color............
Blessings, Nellie
the yellow just perks it right up! In looking around my house I'm beginning to wonder if I've become a little bland too? Life really is better with a little color to it.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and cheerful!! Let us know what Steve thinks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Yelow is such a cheerful color. I think I need some yellow!!
ReplyDeleteLost my comment again - hmmm!
ReplyDeleteI'll stop back later and try again.

Carol - I absolutely LOVE anything yellow. Yellow roses have always been my favorite flower. To me, anything yellow is just uplifting and cheerful. Love your changes. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Goodness!! What a difference a splash of yellow made....and it really looks fantastic. l'm sure the head chef will be rapt with the results.
ReplyDeleteYour yellow roses are beautiful.
Yellow is such a happy, cheerful colour (particularly in small doses). Love your new display!
ReplyDeleteI love yellow and have a lot of it in my home. It looks terrific the way you have displayed it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour home always looks so fresh, happy and comfortable.
I really like the way you have the dining room set-up with yellow and the red chairs.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend and hopefully FALL is on the way. I am really TIRED of all this hot weather.
Mary
Oh my gosh, Carol! It's just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYellow was the perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteWhat ever color you place in your home it always is a happy color choice. You decorate joyfully and it shows. I studied color psychology many years ago and find it interesting that yellow promotes cheerfulness in adults but yet when a nursery is painted yellow a baby will cry more in a yellow room than any other color. I love how your cottage makes us viewers feel welcome with its bright color accents and has a comfortable feel.
xoxo,
Vera
Carol,
ReplyDeleteLove love love the yellow. So pretty and your plates are super sweet. Love that pattern.
Looking so great.
Hugs,
Kris
You nailed it here, Carol, with these sunshiny yellows! And you respect your husband's wishes. I'm going to work on that. Not with Steve, of course.
ReplyDeleteJane
Yellow is such a cheerful color! Love all of your cute dishes!! Dots, stripes, and florals always winners!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

GOOD MORNING, SUNSHINE! Well I have to admit that I was never a "yellow" person, but thanks to blogging and Instagram, all the inspiration and brilliant ideas on how to use color in general have given me a love for things that I never noticed. Yellow is one color that I love now for accents. Your transformations Carol are always a delight to behold! Sunny yellow, YES!
ReplyDeleteBlue, white and yellow is one of my most favorite color combinations! You had just the right pieces to change up your kitchen just enough. It is so pretty and soothing. Does Steve approve? :-)
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love yellow especially mixing with red and blue! The vintage plates are so perfect... I hope you made the Cnef happy! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love those plates and the addition of yellow is so pretty and cheerful. I don't use much yellow but it is pretty with blue and white!
ReplyDeletehugs!!!
Carol, great changes the plates are pretty and I adore the yellow pitcher you chose.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love yellow, my favorite color. When I need a pick me up I wear yellow. Great job in changing up the kitchen. Debbie
ReplyDeleteYellow is such a warm and happy color...I love how you are bringing it into your home!
ReplyDeleteLove the change with the yellow vignettes! I love to change things up in my kitchen, too...playing with pretty much the same color palette as you...yellow, blue and/or red mixed in with white. I haven't changed anything up in awhile. Just haven't felt it lately.
ReplyDeleteHonestly - if you only said to me - yellow, I'd say - no way.
ReplyDeleteBut I admit - your kitchen looks sooooooooooo pretty!!
You definitely know what you're doing :)
Your touches of yellow look so pretty and fresh!
ReplyDeleteHelen xox
Everything looks so fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhen the CHEF SPEAKS you obey but what a fine job you do of it ! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow, but then I'm a sucker for a bit of sunshine in a room. I also love the yellow flatware!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all the yellow additions!! So bright and cheery!! Looks great!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
All that yellow is just the right amount of happy. I love the way the shelves turned out and think it must be impossible to look at them without smiling.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow has perked things up. I always associate you with blue, red and yellow. Most of Steve's paintings have yellow in them don't they? Sarah x
ReplyDeleteI love yellow, especially as an artist. Yellow is the first color the eye perceives, and blue is the last. You have so many cute little yellow accents, Carol, and I love them all!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!
xo,
RJ
The fact you're off to the garden when I can barely step outside since it is so cold here makes me love you the most. Plus your adorable yellow dishes melt my heart.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the yellow! It does brighten things up. I saved that description of Yellow. Maybe in the new house I might paint a pale yellow in my quilting room since it says it inspires original thought etc.
