I have a fascination for numbers - perhaps it comes from my days as a math teacher.
One of my Pinterest boards is called, "I've Got Your Number" and believe me, I have numbers.
In my last post, one of the pictures inside my little house showed part of my number collection and I received several comments and questions about my numbers.
I had removed all my Valentine decor from the house so I decided to put my numbers on display for now.
0 through 10 grace the top of this dresser in the living room.
Steve asked me, "why the numbers?"
And my reply was, "why not?"
I was on a roll and decided to continue the number theme throughout the house.
From a distance, you wouldn't notice the numbers here,
but a close up shot shows numbers on the bucket
and buoys.
The only change to the entry was this chair and the numbered weights - to tie it together I added a kitchen towel covered in anchors.
I am beginning to recognize my number addiction
because these numbered items are still sitting on the shelves in the garden house.
If you are ever in need of numbers, drop by because
I've got your number.

OMG...I just LOVE your numbers...the shapes, the textures, the rust, the vibrant colors, the mix of sizes, the nostalgia...amazing eye candy. You have a knack for display and your photographs are wonderful. I get the math teacher thing; I taught English and seem to surround myself with letters and words. Crazy but fun! You definitely have the best numbers in Blogland...great post!

I have to hand it to you Carol, you have made me love numbers. I love what you have done with them.
ReplyDeleteCool collection, Carol. Maybe you can incorporate into your son's wedding, depending on how casual they plan it?
ReplyDeleteCAROL! And I have a fascination with words and letters and language. Interesting how our careers bleed into our thinking and into our home. Every collection you share is fun and wonderful and so colorful, it gives me hope that soon we will have some color around here! I love that Phantom Tollbooth quote. My students used to do this every year.
ReplyDeleteHappy day my friend! Anita

Well, Carol, your numbers are really adding up! LOL Very whimsical, and oh so fitting for a retired math teacher. Nice collection.
ReplyDeleteCarol, you are a woman after my own heart! Is it the teacher in us? I've always had an affection for numbers and letters. I collected alphabet books for many years while teaching, and still will buy one if it is truly unique or special. I adore your number vignettes here. You have an absolutely fabulous group of "numbers". Love, love, love this. I know I say it frequently, but you live in such a happy home! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to start a new Pinterest board. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou surely DO have my number {3} I too have an affinity for numbers, especially the #3, because of my 3 beautiful granddaughters! But I also love 7 and 2 and well, just about any number! You have a super collection, Carol! It's fun to find the variety of numbered items and create separate collections with them! I agree, Why Not? :) Blessings, Cindy xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Yes you do like numbers. Do you play the lottery. Hugs
ReplyDeleteNeat collection!
ReplyDeleteI love your whimsical collections!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Bright and beautiful as usual! I do love your numbers. My husband was a math major...he does numbers like nobody's business. Me? I avoid 'em like the plague. I don't really collect anything unless you consider the 1000's of photographs I have that need to go in my scrapbooks. It seems I've been avoiding them, too. But I do love dishes, bowls in particular.
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed looking at your collection of numbers! it's probably my favorite of your collections. Well, I don't know, I love your hearts and hands too! I just won't choose a favorite because I love them all! I don't know where you find all your unique numbers though. You have some very cool ones. Hope you have a lovely Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYou have my number and a whole lot more! What fun.
ReplyDeleteKaren
I love your number displays and the colors! Blessings, Cecilia
ReplyDeleteI bet it does have something to do with you having been a math teacher! I agree with you on "why not" with using numbers in decor...to me, decor is all about what you like and what appeals to you. Hope you're having a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love everything in your home! EYE CANDY!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I know how you love numbers. I love the ones you sent to me! I especially love the Bingo numbers at the end! And they are red, imagine that!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I adore all your vignettes!

That is certainly a wonderful and varied collection of numbers! What a fun thing to gather and then spread about!
ReplyDeleteyou put a big smile on my face ! You have my number :)
ReplyDeleteI love your fascination for numbers . And you have an impressive collection .
I have been a kindergartenteacher most of the time but I have been a primary school teacher for 7 years too .
to work with young children and enjoy the magic of numbers .
I worked in a Waldorf school and it all starts there with the RESPECT for the numbers and where they stand for .....
the number ONE .... what in the worlds is only one ?
the children discouver that your father , mother , yourself , the sun , the moon , the earth , are pretty impressive ONE'S '
and with the TWO , two hands , feeth , eyes , ears ,
you can imagen what a wonderful time that was ........
In Waldorf school creativity is of great importance too so making the numbers in all kinds of colours and forms made our time unforgettable .......
Thank you for bringing back those memories to me !
I love it!!! The vintage feel of all your numbers and the vignettes you created with them are so pretty! Wishing you a lovely week ahead Carol! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun and colorful post showcasing all of your numbers! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection you have! I love how you have displayed it all!!! I love numbered stuff, too.
ReplyDeleteI found some tiny little wooden balls the other day with numbers on them and a cool old metal
game piece in red with black numbers on it.
Thanks for the smile!
Carol,
ReplyDeleteThat is the perfect collection for a former math teacher and all your pieces are interesting and unusual. I know you have fun collecting them - the hunt was surely fun. Math has never been my strong point, so I guess I had better keep collecting china - lol!!
These all have such a lovely vintage feel to them. I love quirky unusual items, an excellent collection!

ReplyDeleteLove all those numbers, This is a really fun way to accessorize a room.!!
ReplyDeleteI've long admired your number (and your letter) collection, and I'd noticed them in the garden house, especially those galvanised 3D ones. I'm slightly obsessed with ampersands though I think I only actually have one !!!
ReplyDeleteYour number collection is quite impressive. I wonder how many times I overlook things with numbers on them? I love the collection of weights in the basket in the entry.
ReplyDeleteYour collection is amazing because although it's always about numbers, they are all so different!
ReplyDeleteI adore your number collection. So much fun and I think they are super
ReplyDeleteCindy
My son is a graphcs designer and loves number too. I'm always finding things to send him. I think it's rubbing off! Yours are all so cheery!
ReplyDeleteHow cool you are surrounded by your number friends. Glad I linked to your blog today. Happy numbers to you : _)
ReplyDeleteLove this! I love numbers too. Our favourite is # 13 - our family's lucky number. Except for a brief stint in a rented apt., my husband has never lived in a house where the numbers didn't add up to 13. And I love the "3" and "0" probably because my birthday falls on the 30th.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I love is the "&" sign. Saw a gorgeous one a few days ago, but it was pretty big, and I'm not sure where I could hang it. I'll have to think of a place.
Enjoyed your post very much. xoxox
Hi Carol, I love your reply, "Why not" . . . there is something very charming about your collection and the fact that you taught math . . . well I think it is perfect :)

What a fun addiction to be suffering from! I'm a number lover myself and your collection is #1.
ReplyDeleteI love your arrangements of numbers. Just today, my spouse was telling me that I needed to look for some number signs that look French for a project that we are doing.
ReplyDeleteI love numbers too! I have five little white plates numbered on my wall right now just because they make me smile. You have the best collections Carol. Also I have to thank you for leaving me such a thoughtful, positive comment on my post. I'm not able to receive or send emails right now and it's delayed my reply. But I have to tell you how much I enjoyed hearing about your walk and your lunch with friends. I so admire the quality of your life these days in fact I've got my hubby walking with me more because I've spoken of you two so much. Also I took your advice to heart and I'm determined to schedule my writing project in my week. Hey, I'm officially well again. What's your schedule like these days?

ReplyDeleteI saw a bag of white porcelain balls with black numbers for sale at an antique shop that you would have loved, Carol! I don't think they were old, but they would be fun to display. You've got quite a collection!!
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with numbers and letters myself. You have some unique pieces with them on it. I like your playful vignettes.
ReplyDeleteAwe so cute and whimsical that I adore it to pieces. I am trying to think of my favorite number of all time and 7 and 11 come to mind. I love the sand pail and the paint can color and number font.
