a loaf of bread, a flask of wine . . .

I was dusting the bookcase in our bedroom - I'll admit that doesn't happen as frequently as it should - and pulled out the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.


Inside I found Steve's message to me - 


44 years ago - 6 weeks before we were married.


This is what greeted Steve when he went to make his coffee, but with a far better quality of wine than in 1971 and of course some chocolate.

    It was in the 70's that I first discovered Omar Khayyam myself and I still have a lovely edition that belonged to my father.

    Well, yesterday was the 35th anniversary of when we MET....I remember that night so well. He was singing in a group at church, and after the concert, I hung around with a friend to see old high school friends. I turned around to hear who was playing the piano, and there he was. I simply asked, "Do you play the piano?" And the rest is history.

    Yesterday, we went out and about in -10 degree weather, and loved every moment of our outing.

    Carol, that is so romantic. My Steve got heart shaped pancakes with sausage links that spelled out "I heart (pancakes) u".
    Not as romantic as your morning, but it brought a smile to his sweet face. 44 years, that is wonderful . . . isn't life sweet when you can spend it with the right person:)
