Spring on the Porch

Spring is here and participating in a Spring Home Tour was the perfect motivation to get me decorating - I chose the Entryway and Porches category.

I have 3 doors and thus 3 porches to decorate, but the main challenge was that it began raining the minute I brought home plants to decorate the porches.

I started with the back porch because I could work in the rain.

Trader Joe's had jasmine which is perfect hanging above the table made from my grandmother's sewing machine base.

I tied little bottles onto an old metal screen and snipped flowers from the garden.

I love using words in decor so wooden letters with magnets on the back are perfect on the screen.

Mini rose bushes fill a favorite metal basket.

Even in the rain we keep the door open and I love this happy view.

I am focused on using what I have this year so when I started spiffing up the garden shed, I simply borrowed this little ladder from another part of the garden.

It started raining while I was was decorating the the front of the shed so I organized inside while I waited out the rain.

I moved the old milk can outside during Christmas and decided it looks cute next to the shed door and it will look even better when the plant starts blooming.

I had to wait a couple of days between decorating the back and the front because of rain.

While I waited I created a new arrangement for the front door.

I love how the basket looks on the door, but the clouds are the winners in this shot.

Our old Adirondack chair is falling apart and I almost tossed it, but I decided a basket of flowers would keep anyone from sitting on the chair.

The buoys are beach finds -

Steve paints them pretty colors to liven up the porch.

Now that my porches are decorated for spring,

I'm going to check out all the inspiration on the Spring Home Tour.

I'm thrilled to be joining in today as 28 talented bloggers bring you the best of spring for all throughout the home! Please continue along this inspiring tour, and visit the other participants in each of the following categories.

Easter Eggs and Bunny Rabbits

I know it's early for Easter decorating,

but I was prepping for company over the weekend.

Sadly we all agreed that it wasn't the best move for Andy and his mama to be flying right now.

So it's just Steve and me enjoying the Easter eggs and bunny rabbits.

I am really trying to decorate with what I have on hand so these flowers

and the little Maileg rabbit I showed in my last post are the only purchases this Easter.

There is just one little bunny in the dining room.

On the other hand, the entry got a fair share of Easter decor.

I bought the chicken basket in 1976 and it's always nice to fill it with old chalk eggs at Easter time.

The paper mache bunny is from last Easter and I wish I could leave him out all year long.

Mr. Goose is standing guard over the guest room.

The formally dressed rabbit was purchased last year and I was happy to see him once again.

I'm sorry that Andy won't see the house decorated for Easter,

but in reality,

Mr. Goose and Mr. Rabbit would probably not impress him.

little things

There have been a lot of "little" things in my life lately.

A walk on the beach is always nice,

but it's even better when I find treasures.

Yesterday there were loads of rock along the shore and look what I found -

a heart shaped shell and a rare blue piece of sea glass - actually Steve found that piece.

Recently an Instagram friend, @annedease, and her husband stopped by on a road trip and brought me a lovely quilt she made.

Happy Mail always makes me smile - Melanie of Comfy House sent me a sweet card and if things work out, we'll be meeting for the first time next week.

I ordered a little rabbit from Maileg USA and it arrived in the sweetest packaging.

I guess this means that I have started decorating for Easter.

Francis of @francinaadriana on Instagram sent me a Valentine card and the envelope is a work of art.

Along with the card and lovely message inside, there was a heart balloon.

I love the name of the card company, Two Bad Mice, because Francis and I share a love of Maileg mice.

Last week I received this exciting email from Fifi O'neill and I must admit that this is a BIG thing.

The photo shoot was in November and the book will come out in July - I can't wait to see it.

How about you, what little things have happened lately?
