Easter Eggs and Bunny Rabbits

I know it's early for Easter decorating,

but I was prepping for company over the weekend.

Sadly we all agreed that it wasn't the best move for Andy and his mama to be flying right now.

So it's just Steve and me enjoying the Easter eggs and bunny rabbits.

I am really trying to decorate with what I have on hand so these flowers

and the little Maileg rabbit I showed in my last post are the only purchases this Easter.

There is just one little bunny in the dining room.

On the other hand, the entry got a fair share of Easter decor.

I bought the chicken basket in 1976 and it's always nice to fill it with old chalk eggs at Easter time.

The paper mache bunny is from last Easter and I wish I could leave him out all year long.

Mr. Goose is standing guard over the guest room.

The formally dressed rabbit was purchased last year and I was happy to see him once again.

I'm sorry that Andy won't see the house decorated for Easter,

but in reality,

Mr. Goose and Mr. Rabbit would probably not impress him.

It's About Time . . .

I have been looking at Easter and spring decorations on blogs for weeks now.

But, the only "spring" items in my house are flowers -

sweet daffodils and daisies from the market and a few from my garden.

I decided I had better get my act together and show a bit of Easter spirit.

Last night about 11:30, I finally got into the spirit.

I grabbed the little treats I received in a Bunny Swap at Cozy Blanket,

a burlap flowers from Paper Source and

some canvas pennants also from Paper Source.

I used the magnetic letters to trace the letters S P R I N G and colored them in with colored markers.

A little string, some polka dot clothes pins and

VOILA,

I have a spring banner!

Today after volleyball practice, I am heading up to the attic to find a few Easter decorations.

It's about time I got inspired!

A Couch Potato Day

My son doesn't often bring me gifts.

Oh, how I wish he had not brought this one - his cold.

After a 6 day work week, volleyball season starting up again, and my yearbook deadline, I was looking forward to a "me" day yesterday.

Instead, this was my view as I spent both yesterday and today on the sofa.

I got out a few friends to keep me occupied when I wasn't sleeping.

It is amazing what you can accomplish when you just sit still for hours.

I made bunnies for a "Bunny Swap" I joined.

I still need to decorate the bags for their travel time.

I used a free pattern from Jenny at Allsorts but I obviously did something wrong.

Allsorts

I guess I was supposed to shrink the pattern because her instructions say it will be a 3"  bunny and mine are 5".

Oh, well, I have heard that "bigger is better".

The crochet thread was for a project I started on my field trip to UCLA last Sunday.

I NEVER go on a field trip with a busload of middle school kids without something to take my mind off their noise and music.

My plan was to copy this little bag I crocheted over 20 years ago.

I no longer have the pattern and when I started it last weekend I couldn't find the little bag.

I worked from memory, but I had to hunt up the bag today to do the edging.

I didn't do too badly although I forgot about the center part with the flower.

Instead, I crocheted a little flower to add to the bag.

If you have ever looked at my blog, you know that my house is not "romantic" or "lacy" so this little bag is going to Kris at Junk Chic Cottage.

Kris does romantic, lacy, and white.

And, she does it all spectacularly.

I already have a little white muslin bag I made to use for the insert.

I just need to find some treats for the bag.

And then, I have to stop being a couch potato.

I'll get up when Steve says, "SOUP'S ON!"

Steve is healing rapidly, back to cooking and is in his kitchen making me homemade chicken soup !
