A Christmas Carol

Welcome to A Merry Musical Christmas Blog Hop

hosted by Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home.

If you're following along in order, then you're coming to me from the home of my dear friend Jann of Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson - she has the cutest style.

I must begin by telling you that I am not musically inclined - I joined the after school band in the 5th grade, chose the clarinet, and was quickly told by the music teacher that it was in everyone's best interests that I quit the program.

But, my name is a noun associated with Christmas and that name was chosen because I was expected in December - I came 4 weeks early.

Maybe that's why Christmas carols have always been favorites.

Despite a lack of musical skill, as I looked around the house,

I noticed that there are carol lyrics

in every nook and cranny.

The halls are decked

and each vignette makes a carol pop into my head.

I will admit that this reindeer did not have a red nose, but I think my embellishment adds to his charm.

Jingle bells make for a fun garland in the guest room.

Santa Claus is coming to town,

but my Frosty has a carrot instead of a button nose.

Even though these aren't silver bells, in the air there's a feeling of Christmas.

I got to thinking about my favorite carols

and used snippets of lyrics to decorate one of my little trees.

There is JOY in our home

because it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

I hope you have yourself a Holly Jolly Christmas.

And now I'll send you off to Belle Bleu Interiors - you will love Shannon's beautiful home.

Thank you for hopping along with this wonderful group of bloggers.

  1. How cute is this? I love your vignettes, Carol. I cannot believe a teacher told you that. I had one tell me I should quit drama. A mistake because I am an awesome story teller. I love how you've incorporated the classic carols. Merry Christmas!

  10. This is so awesome. I loved this post and this why you can't just look at Instagram. The story is missed. You did a great job and I love Carol's too. I sing all the time. My poor hubby has been listening to me sing for 30 years and never complains. I am gone deaf. If I hear my voice over the music I cringe.

Merry Christmas and healthy happy New Year

  14. Oh Carol, that was a very, very clever blog post! I can't believe your teacher told you in such a blunt manner about quitting the program! Well, some teachers are like that...I had a ballet teacher that was so rude to me that she literally made me even STRONGER to move on to another studio where I succeeded and traveled to dance.

Your Christmas is reminding me of my own childhood California Christmas.....thank you my dear friend.

  22. Carol, I so admire your way of pulling a theme together! You are one talented lady, and the beautiful seasonal touches around your home are full of charm! I would love to wander each room and take it all in.
I can't believe a teacher would tell a 5th grader to leave the after school band program. That is awful!
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

  23. Carol...first of all as a music teacher I am appalled at your music teacher! Shame shame! You just needed a different instrument and more time. GRR.

Well, I am glad to see he/she did nothing to deter your love of music at least, as you have references festively displayed all through your home. Your home is so merry and bright, and I love all of your charming vignettes. The little carrot-nosed snowman is darling!

Thank you so much for joining this hop. Have yourself a "merry musical" Christmas!
