Welcome to the Vintage Gardens Blog Hop
Welcome to our garden - this time of year, if we're not on the beach then you'll find us in the garden.
I might be reading
or we might be diniing al fresco.
Steve spends most of his garden time right here on the Group W bench*.
One of my favorite vintage pieces in the garden is this rusty old table.
I bought it a local antique store to pair with cast iron chairs - hand me downs from a friend who was moving to the mountains.
The metal baker's rack has seen better days, but I still love it - found at a local thrift shop.
The Group W bench* was a freebie from a neighbor who asked us if we would take it off his hands.
This $1 rickety wood bench has been in the garden for years,
but it got an update a few months ago and now it adds a fun pop of color to the wall of ivy.
The chair was a street find - no seat, but I had the perfect sized basket in the attic.
The ladder was a thrift shop find, but grandpa's garden tools are truly vintage
as is his old watering can.
His pitchfork makes a great hanger for the old sap bucket and adds height to the garden.
This little antique store ladder is a favorite and I tend to move it all over the garden to hold plants.
I love the old wheelbarrow, another street find, because the flowers add color against the back fence.
Steve found this little rocker on the street the other day - don't know what I'll do with it or where I'll put it,
but it will fit right in with all the other old junk in our garden.
Before I send you off to visit Shannon at Belle Bleu Interiors, I thought I should explain the meaning of "Group W Bench".
It's a line from the Arlo Guthrie song, Alice's Restaurant and it refers to the bench where they sent all the crazy people during draft induction.
And now it's time to check out the rest of the blogs on the vintage garden tour.

Carol, I could spend the entire day in your beautiful outdoor space. Everything looks so pretty, happy, and cheerful! Your group W bench made me laugh! It has been so much fun touring with you! Enjoy your week!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the beautiful pops of color in your garden - both from the flowers and your vintage garden touches! What a lovely place to sit and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAll your cottage junk goes perfectly in your cottage garden, with your coastal cottage. In case you don't know how much I love it all, let me tell you again, Carol. I love your cottage and everything about it! It lives much larger than its square footage may indicate. Finding all those treasures on the street is priceless.
ReplyDeleteLove the color you painted the bench. I need to do the same with my garden gliders.
The Group W bench... lol.
Carol, you have the loveliest garden! I follow you on IG, and happy to visit your blog today through the garden tour, I started out with Laura's charming garden :) I love all things old, vintage, and rusty metal too! I love the turquoise color of your bench, so fun! Truly a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy. Blessings and hugs :)
ReplyDeleteYour rusty table is my favorite too! What a find! Love the pic of your grandpa's watering can. I have my grandma's galvanized watering can too; so good to have those sentimental pieces to cherish;) Fun hopping with you again, Carol!
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to see your garden. I'm guessing it doesn't rain much where you live, but if it does, are you always bringing things inside or do they do OK in the rain? We haven't had much rain this summer but we often do and we fight mildew all the time.
ReplyDeleteYou know I've always loved your gardens...one of my faves out in Blogland! I'll have to go check out the other gardens in this tour.
ReplyDeleteCarol your sweet flower gardens are so charming right along with your cottage. So sweet that you have such great weather to use that outdoor space almost year around. Love see all your vintage items throughout the garden.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Week.
Kris
I love them all. The Mediterranean sun is doing its best to crisp everything I've worked at in the garden and my focus is keeping stuff wet, shaded and alive. Cute has been put on the backburner, so it is very nice to be reminded how gardens can look!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that* I adore everything about gardens and vintage so it all looks amazing***
