I am honored to have been asked once again to join the Cozy at Christmas Holiday Blog Tour.
My favorite part of Christmas is seeing old friends.
By old friends, I mean all the fun pieces I have amassed over the past 48 holiday seasons.
If it was up to me, I'd keep my Maileg pixies out year round,
but truthfully the fun of the pixies is that I only play with them one month a year.
I love the gift bags (I think I have had the one on the left for about 30 years) and got the idea from Natalie of Vintage Porch to use the bags for pillows.
When we downsized 20 years ago, I gave away a beloved rocking horse collection due to limited space, but I have obviously started a new collection.
Both wagons have been in my collection for about 25 years, but the one on the left got a coat of green paint this year.
I love using books in vignettes and these red books (vintage books from my mother-in-law) are used year round.
Tattered and torn children's books along with my aunt's copy of A Christmas Carol and my mother's copy of Little Women all come out of hiding for the month of December.
Space is limited in the house to decorate,
so I love having both the ladder and the tall cupboard to create Christmas vignettes.
Every year I add a few new faux trees to my collection.
We go away for Christmas each year, but I try to have one or two real trees - I hope to keep this one growing through the year.
and this little rosemary tree smells wonderful in the house.
New pillows in the guest room make it nice and cozy as do all new Christmas pillows in the living room.
Like all my "toys", the pillows will go into hiding after making our house all comfy and cozy this December.
I hope you too are having a Cozy Christmas.

This is adorable. I love it. The red is so fresh and pretty. Your collections are amazing. Thanks for being a stop on our tour.
ReplyDeleteSo fresh and cheery! You have adorable collections.
ReplyDeleteFresh, lovely, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou do live in my dream home! My pixies have come out to play also and they make me so happy! I love all your trees, I did get a Rosemary tree this year and oh that smell is wonderful. Enjoy your Christmas trip with family and that new Grand Baby! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the Pixies but they truly are so adorable. My daughter is named for the character of Beth in Little Women. What a treasure your book is. Keeping you in prayer. Both my best friend and brother in law live close to the fires and it truly is worrisome. May you be breathing easy soon my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
ReplyDeleteYour home is like a magical cottage by the sea, filled with precious treasures and decorated to perfection. I love your collections and of course the Pixies are wonderful.
I am sending prayers of comfort and safety to your, yours and those in need or danger.
Jemma
Katie, it is always a pleasure to drop by your cottage by the sea, but when you're all decorated for the Christmas season I have to come back again and again to take in everything you have. Those painted wagons...an idea I'm going to steal for sure! I'll be looking at every garage sale or summer to find Christmas wagons now! Thanks for so much inspiration by sharing your lovely things with us.
ReplyDeleteLove your cheery, colorful Christmas decorating. I love seeing old friends too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas holidays to you and yours ~ FlowerLady
Whenever I visit your charming home, I am both inspired and uplifted. You have such a creative and whimsical soul. I am thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. I know how frightening wild fires can be. May God send an angel to protect and comfort you.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I love all your treasures from years of collecting! All the pretty red and white checks, the pixies, horses, wagons...all of it! It looks very cozy and inviting. I'm loving all the tours!
ReplyDeleteCecilia
So very very pretty and cozy. I think you do such a wonderful job because you set up a good base. The colors of your home year round are perfect and all the red and white just fit so well! I just love the way you decorate! Hope and your family enjoy the holidays!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love everything about your decor . . . it is perfect! Better than that, is visiting and seeing that you have posted . . .that's a great sign, because I have been afraid to check your blog. We were watching the news and seeing the fires, I couldn't get you off my mind. This must be a sign that you are alright . . . praise God!
ReplyDeleteConnie :)
Love that green tool box on your table!
ReplyDeleteI am running down to the basement to see if I have any cloth gift bags to use as pillows! What a cute idea!! Your decorating is fabulous! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour decor is always cute and colorful and of course your Christmas decor is no different. Love your collections and I want an antique horse which may be out of my budget, but I'm on the hunt.
ReplyDeleteYou have such lovely ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love your decor! It makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing. Have a Happy Holiday Season! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'm relieved that you are safe, that your homestead is still standing. Secondly, you do Christmas so well! The coziness is there, and you are able to capture it! I love what I have going on here, but the rooms are at such an angle that the lighting is AWFUL, so I just don't share.
ReplyDeleteI love your horse collection. I mentioned that I have a few myself, and I adore them. I ordered an antique Swedish white horse from a shoppe in The Netherlands, but their mail is very slow, so I probably won't see GUSTAVE until after the holidays!
Have fun my friend.
Everything looks marvelous...especially love all those pretty pillows.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so darling. Lots of Christmas Spirit at your house.

LOVED THE TOUR!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love the Front door and all your bits of red throughout the house. Your pixies are cute sitting about the house. Be safe in your travels. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, loved the tour and all your festive decorations. You have a way of making it all come together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteMary
Carol,
ReplyDeleteVisiting you is always such a treat. Your vignettes scattered throughout your house always bring smiles to my face. I always feel uplifted after reading your posts. Your reds and greens shout, "Christmas," in the best of ways. The needlepoint red and white star pillow in your dining area peeking out behind the MERRY green box on your table is beautiful and the MERRY box spells out the message for your wonderful home.
Merry Christmas,
Judith
So thankful to see your pretty little cottage safe and whole. What a blessing! Your entrance looks cute!
ReplyDeleteCarol, your home makes me smile. I love the reds against the white. Those metal hearts in the first images are something I would have added to my tree. They look like they are made from scrap metal. Can you tell me more about them?
ReplyDeleteLove your idea of making pillows from the sacks. I've a wealth of Christmas pillows, but yet each year I see something else I'd like to have. I also like your collection of little trees. I have a few, and have been searching for another to add this year for a specific idea. The right one hasn't presented itself just yet!
Thanks for the tour. Grateful that you and your home remain safe.
Carol, I am with you! Love seeing my old friends come out for the month of December! Your home is always one of my favorites. Love your style and creative personality that shines through. I've already decided that I am heading to Grand America after Christmas to get another pixie. I adore your collection!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Your home is looking fantastic for Christmas. I smiled as I recognized some of characters that you bring out each year!
ReplyDeleteAre you close to the fires? I have been thinking of you.

ReplyDeleteHow do I love your cottage? Let me count the ways....your pixies, your pillows, your horses, your ladder, your books, your quilts, your little faux (and real) trees. Just so absolutely true cottage style!
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays, Carol and Steve. Safe travels and enjoy your family and baby grand.
