Just a quick note to let you know that I am stepping down from SYC with Jann of Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson.
I'm fine, but I am listening to my body that is telling me to slow down.
I am taking a lesson from Lulu and not doing much these days
and following the advice of Ralph Waldo Emerson to "live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air".
ReplyDeleteGood for you for listening to your body.
Enjoy the rest and getting back to normal
of course sometimes normal is a lot on us
Good for you ~ and I have always loved that quote!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs ~
Life is short, as we know from Pat's passing recently. I let go of my party I'd had for four years. Just not enough time. And seems all I do is work on things for my blog...
ReplyDeleteBrenda
There's a time for every season :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you in recognizing there are limits for all of us. So much going on right now with everyone, so little time to get it done. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteAt our age, I do believe we have earned the right to take things easier. Especially you, teaching and giving of yourself all those years, I'm proud of you but you deserve a break.
ReplyDeleteMary
I totally understand your need to simplify, Carol. It's nice to have days where you do what you want without any obligations....and you've earned it!
ReplyDeleteI love all the changes you've made to your home since I last visited!
That's always the smartest thing to do! We can all tell when their are changes are when we are trying to do too much. Take care! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt's very important that we listen to our bodies - I'm glad you're taking care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteSmart move! We all need to listen to our bodies and adjust as needed. Take care of yourself. I think Emerson knows what he is talking about. '-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post here. Adore what your tablescape.
Praying for you, Carol! Believing that a few less items on your 'to do' list will help you Enjoy the season ahead! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your 'you' time. Hope you can do some major relaxing Love all the pictures, especially the fall table!
ReplyDeleteI applaud you for listening to your heart and soul, Carol. I've been posting much less than I used to and I'm now done with apologizing. I enjoy the writing and interaction...now the scheduled "How To" posts that have to be written under pressure.
ReplyDeleteBravo!!
Jane
Good for you! Enjoy some quiet time. Sounds like others - not just me - have pulled back from blogging a bit. It is a time hog. A friend just asked if I was working on a book about our life in Greece. I told her no, that I'd decided to concentrate on enjoying life here and not spend my time at a computer writing about it.
ReplyDeleteCarol I too understand the need to listen to our bodies, enjoy your reflecting and relaxing and living each moment joyfully.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Those are such wise words and it is so easy to fall in the trap of doing too much. Listen to your body and enjoy a more relaxing time. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteLive the life you have imagined is one of my favorite quotes, and I think you should live that life. Thank you for hosting SYC where I have enjoyed visiting on a regular basis. I will look forward to reading you in days to come.
Judith
As we 'mature', we definitely need to listen to our bodies more and not 'do' so much.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy relaxing more and share when you feel like it.
Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady
I know exactly how you feel...good for you!
ReplyDeleteYou know what my friend? Now at 58, going on 59, I never thought this little engine of mine would slow down, but I am feeling it too. Not so much of aches and pains or a lack of energy....oh no, not that. I am looking around this mad world of ours and saying, "Wait a minute. Why am I wasting my heart of such stressful, unimportant things?" So even though I teach and the teaching environment is fast-paced, I am trying to keep calm, plan ahead, choose my battles, for I have to work until retirement age (oy vey).....but I often wonder, "really, are we humans supposed to run about like this, stressed, so competitive?" So I wish you well, I wish you happiness in the sunshine (like Miss L.), I wish you refreshing days in the sea, and a wild spirit. MUCH LOVE and you will be missed.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to do that more! How I wish I could join you and Lulu on that chaise and enjoy the sunshine at the beach! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteSmart girl! You are wise to pay attention to your body.
ReplyDeleteI certainly need to do the same.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Carol. Sometimes we just have to slow down and enjoy each day.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Hi Carol, I so understand this and doing the same here moving in new directions. We just have to listen to our inner self and make the transition when needed. I'm going to think of it as "working smarter not harder" haha Lulu has the rigt idea. We can learn a lot from her.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as always. xo
Sometimes we need to step down or back in order to distinguish our trail from the many others. It's the narrow path maybe but right for your story. Bl ssings as you go on new adventures
ReplyDeleteGreat quote Carol and you are smart to listen. I should probably do the same! ;)
ReplyDeleteGood for you girlfriend! When our plates get too full our bodies and minds feel it before we realize it I believe. I'm glad you have made that decision to give something up. To enjoy life, we do need to slow down and "feel the colors". LindaLee
ReplyDeleteGood girl, it's important to listen to our bodies. I sometimes wish mine would stop talking to me everyday but such is life. Enjoy time for yourself.
ReplyDeleteCindy
You are a wise woman to slow down before your body breaks down and makes you rest, unwillingly! Enjoy your slower pace and continue to create lovely vignettes!
ReplyDeleteYou are wise to listen to your body, Carol. Sometimes it has to knock us down before we really start to listen. I've cut back a lot over the last year and just do what I want to do...no pressure.
ReplyDeleteWe should always listen to our body or pay attention to things around us! Love Lulu example!
ReplyDeleteWe all need to listen to that inner voice because we know what's best for us. Take some time to smell the roses and do what makes you smile:-)
