I shared this photo on Instagram the other day and it got me thinking about my increasing use of white.
The dining room is looking more white than colorful.
as are the entry
and the guest room.
I post one pic on Instagram each day and when I scrolled back through my gallery I expected to see lots of white.
But contrary to my expectations, I see that my life is still full of color.
Red,
green
and blue still abound.
Despite the fact that I truly am using more white
in my vignettes,
there is always color tucked in.
I love white, but in the end, I'm a color girl.

You know, I am a white lover along with gray and natural wood tones. But as I look at my IG gallery, I find WAY MORE COLOR than I expected to have! I don't know it's because I don't live in an all white house, but I think that color speaks and calls out to us. The roses, the water, the various colors of nature come in all colors and the white phenomenon has captured my attention and décor sensibilities, but there is not denying the true nature of of nature: IT'S ALL IN LIVING COLOR.
ReplyDeleteWhite is a great canvas, but alone, it says very little. Loving your photos as always dear Carol!
I love white with pops of a favorite colour. Love your blog, too.
ReplyDeleteToo much white is boring! I love colour!
ReplyDeleteI'm finding the same thing but as you mentioned, the colours in the space still stand out and I think I like it better this way. For now anyway!

Our home was 'builder white' for so long that we painted color everywhere and then did the same with our 'white everywhere' house in Greece, so I love seeing other people's use of white and yours is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhite can be soothing and it's always a perfect background for color!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I think you have enough white to make your colors.... Zing !. I love seeing all your pretty colors. I only have two Instagram places I visit and yours is one of them. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love your decorating style! I pinned my favorite photos. The whites are lovely and calm and the pops of color make the space sing, just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine you without color!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, warm and inviting, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI too love white so much, but my house now has just white walls and linens, lol..
Thank you for your comment on my 4th. table. The STAR plates were $1 each at the Dollar Tree, three years ago in Miami. I bet you can find them still.
Hugs,
FABBY
I love white! But I think a little bit of color adds interest and contrast. I can't imagine you not ever having color in your home! You and your husband are both so artistic which just calls for color.
ReplyDeleteWhatever color or non color you use - you do it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.

I will always need color in my decor, but in the last couple of years, I've also moved to lightening up the backdrop a bit. I think it makes the color of accessories and certain furniture pieces stand out that much better. Your cottage is the epitome of Charm!

I'm a color girl, too, Carol. I do like a little white thrown in around it though. It makes the rainbow pop! :)
ReplyDeleteWhite is definitely a change for you,but you remain true to you color love by adding a pop of color to your white vignettes. Whatever, it's always beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEach one is total bliss, Carol. I think the white makes the color pop. You have an eye for style, that's for certain!
ReplyDeleteAnd you share your love of color beautifully, Carol! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see that colour is still to be found at Art and Sand. I love your use of the primaries.
ReplyDeleteWhite, or in living color it is always just breathtaking Carol! I have to have color in my life. I tried to go white in my craft room and I just couldn't do it. :) I see on others blogs and love the look, but when it comes down to it; I am drawn to color. What can I say, it makes me happy!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I think you are balancing your love of color and whites quite well. And white is never truly white if you mix in some beige and gray. I remember my favorite art teacher having me step back from my paintings, squint, and see where there was a need for more or less color. Balance.

I love white and color; I think it's finding the right combo for you. White is like a canvas for your other loves.
ReplyDeleteI am decorating with more white also but I find that while all white is very pretty, white with a pop of color is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see your comment on my blog dear Carol! Enjoy your garden today!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love your Instagram feed...perfect always! I love my world full of color! I love how bloggers use white and it looks so beautiful, but I just see the world in color, that is what I like!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteI always kid you about crossing over to the white side but girl you are full of color. I like that you are adding some white but staying true to the color girl you are. If we surround ourselves with what we love it will always make us happy. I find that I am starting to add pops of color to my whites, cream and gray world. White makes a perfect background for pops of color. Have a great new week ahead.
Hugs,
Kris
Pops of color everywhere is what makes me smile when I look at your photos.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do always looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteI, too, am using and loving white in my home decor, dear friend!
It seems to soothe the soul and calm one's Spirit!
I love the photo of the red , especially the cherries in the pitcher!
The white photos with a touch of blush and neutral are exquisite!
Fondly,
Pat
I love seeing white in other people's blogs - like all white rooms. But I know I couldn't live with it, I must have some color. And of course I always love seeing your color - and your white!
ReplyDeleteMary
Carol to me your lifestyle will be forever told in primary happy color's. It's what I think of when I think of you, but just know whatever color you choose to decorate with in this moment of time, the end result will always be cheerful and happy.

I've noticed my gravitation towards more and more white in the last few years as well. It must be that nice clean feeling. And it sure makes all the other colors jump for joy!

I have just bought that beautiful red and cream rose or one very similar. Mine has the most incredbly lovely fragrance.
ReplyDeleteCarol, your home is such an inspiration and I love the pops of color. When I added more white, I found it was more fun when I added little touches of color and they got noticed better!! Have a great day. Happy Decorating!
ReplyDeleteI always associate you with colour! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love white (or cream) with touches or splashes of color. I think all the white gives your cottage a fresh and airy look and makes the colors pop without overwhelming. Thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeleteYou may love white but you always have just the right amount of pop of color added. I enjoy seeing what you do and come up with.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
