Lately, I feel like about all I can manage is to get one decent picture to post on Instagram each day.
One of the challenges on Instagram this week was to show a favorite gift and another was to show something vintage so I combined the two hashtags and created this collage.
The gift I wanted to showcase was the candlesticks
which were a wedding present nearly 45 years ago
and probably the only gift from our 1971 wedding that I still have.
The candlesticks definitely qualify for the vintage hashtag as do the linens I used for the table setting.
Lovely Rita of Panoply sent me the gorgeous vintage tablecloth and the wonderful striped napkins - at least that's how I use them.
Rita could not have chose a better tablecloth for our house.
Another day, sweet Ana of A Petite Cottage challenged me on Instagram to show teacups and pitchers and I combined it with the hashtag - #brightwhitewednesday.
The little cast iron pig is one of my favorite tchotchkes
and I love him paired with vintage linens from a friend.
Yesterday sweeping the porch was literally the only thing I managed to do.
Today I worked in the garden,
and I managed to capture a "selfie" in the garden mirror.
I actually did a fun project in the garden this morning, but that will be for another post.

I have that tablecloth! Mine was in a box in my grandmother's attic. It is a little more "well-loved" though. Love the colors. You live in such a wonderful locations.
ReplyDeleteI love your you combined all the colours, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, I had to go back and read that again. I thought you wrote you'd have those candles since you got married. But you said candlesticks. Gorgeous pics, as always. Your home makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Oh yay! I'm so glad you made it to Thoughts of Home on Thursday. I love seeing your pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou are helping me understand better how Instagram works. It's really all about the hashtags, isn't it? I'm going to work on that.
I hope your hand gets better friend. I feel for ya!
Everything looks so lovely Carol. I am so sorry that your hand is really bothering you. What is wrong with it? I do hope that it gets better soon. I know how much you love decorating your beautiful cottage.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend, it should be a nice one.

Good morning my friend!
ReplyDeleteSome days are like this: slow, easy, happy, prolonged. I actually long for days like this (as you know by now!). Yesterday, I got home at 1:45, which is RARE for me these days, but it was delicious. I sat in my front room where the sunlight is very special. It's that "California sunlight" and I just relaxed, stared into the empty space, enjoyed every moment of it. Sometimes it's perfectly OK to do the simple things in life. ENJOY IT! Hey, we have the same white pitcher!
Wonderful photos of your lovely home and gardens. Always a joy to see.
ReplyDeleteLove your wedding candlesticks.
Have a very nice weekend ~ FlowerLady
I love that tablecloth ; so cheery and bright.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I so love your primary colors, and those textiles are perfect for you. Know that even if it's just one photo of your cheerful, colorful abode that gets posted, it's still enough to perk up those of us tolerating the last of non-descript winter days here in the east. I do hope your hand improves. I have only been slightly inconvenienced with an ache in my hand this past week from - of all things - deep cleaning a jacuzzi tub and shower stall! I can't imagine dealing with it more than a few days.
ReplyDeleteRita
Lovely vignettes. You are so good with colour!!
ReplyDeleteWhat perfect gifts and they fit so perfectly in your sweet cottage. I linked to your blog this morning on my Saturday Shout Out post, I hope you don't mind. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIf I had one more minute in the day I'd follow you on instagram - but for now I will enjoy the photos on your blog. The tablecloth is adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dining table, and I need to play with you and Ana on Instagram. The challenges sound fun!
ReplyDeletePretty pictures. You are always up for the challenge despite the obstacles.
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures on Instagram, Carol. I can spot your shots immediately!! Hope you are feeling better soon. I know it's hard to be one-handed!
ReplyDeleteYour photos always brighten up my day on Instagram and here on your blog. I keep hoping the hand will heal without surgery. I have lost my blogging mojo but I am hoping it comes back soon.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Carol,
ReplyDeleteRest is most important, Arthritis takes time to heal. Your cottage always looks happy and charming. I always enjoy your posts!
xoxo,
Vera
Carol, your cheery cottage is a breath of fresh air. It always brings a smile for me! Love the colorful table with the vintage textiles. I'm one who holds on to things, so many of our wedding gifts are still loved and used. I actually remember who gave us certain things. It's very comforting to me to think that we have used and enjoyed these gifts through 40+ years together.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love the bright colors of your home, I have to say that the bright white Wednesday photo made my heart sing a happy song. The little cast iron pig paired with the beautiful vintage linens, everything crispy white is all perfection. Picture perfect as they say!
Helo good saturday mornin, I love your sweet blog. I love the vintage table cloth I have a few from my grat aunt and I just love them. I like the colors in your and the napkins are lovely as well. I have joined you please come by and visit and join me too. Have a wonderful day and weekend with love Janice
ReplyDeleteI always L.O.V.E. your beautiful splashes of color! Very inspiring! Ü
ReplyDeleteLove the candlesticks and tablecloth. I have a green glass jug remaning from my wedding gifts-now doing a mental inventory to see if anything else survived-other than the marriage LOL.
ReplyDeleteLovely post! I especially love the white photos near the end (kitchen?). And, that beautiful bunch of orange flowers in the jar in the last photo. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, you home is so wonderful and I really enjoyed your photos. I haven't really gotten into Instagram yet so I'm glad that you shared the pics from it. I pray that you are feeling better. Jo
ReplyDeleteI never care what you share, Carol, because it is Always beautiful!! Inside or out, your photos bring a smile to my face. Many blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteAnd a beautiful porch you do have to sweep!!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks fantastic, do you feel you're making progress with the healing? And how is learning the new camera coming along?
ReplyDeleteI love that table setting in all it's vintageness. Is that even a word. The candlesticks go perfectly with it. It's good that you're taking baby steps with your hand, Carol-don't try to do too much.
ReplyDeleteIt has been great gardening weather but gosh I sure was hoping we would get more rain.
ReplyDeleteI admire that those candlesticks are the only wedding gift that is still around. I have things I am still using that are PRIOR to my 1975 wedding - LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was that I love those striped napkins on your table, Carol! What a lovely gift from Rita! I'm envious of your sunny weather. Yesterday it was 40 and the snow was melting, but this morning the temps dropped and it's snowing again. Enjoy your sunshine!
ReplyDeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I get so far behind. I'm old school and didn't follow any blogs, but I've learned the hard way that I can only keep up with my favorites if I do, so you're being followed now. Sounds kinds creepy, huh? ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you do more than I would do if my hand was in pain. Those candlesticks are great! and you know I love the linens.
The post with Steve chiming in was hilarious :)
Take care of yourself.
xo,
rue
I love that vintage table cloth and napkins! They really do look perfect in your home. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to constantly deal with your hand giving you trouble. It's hard to not move a hand! Hopefully, it will not get any worse.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, every setting more beautiful then the next. Always so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. xo
I too struggle to come up with one good picture a day on IG but yours are spectacular! I am a bit late in visiting due to it being college finals week for me but I am so very happy you joined Thought of Home on Thursday and shared this delightful gem.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice tablecloth that I would buy too. I love all the little things you do here and there every day.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't do instagram so I follow your blog and I'm good and love all your photos. It took me a minute to think if I still had anything from our wedding in 78. I have a couple of items I think. I love the table cloth. My motif is rustic and western but doesn't mean I can't admire other types. I'm thinking my mini mansion will be farm house some how. When ever we get that far along. By that time we'll start building the forever house/barn whatever. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour table cloth is one of my favorite things you have. I love vintage linens. I was in a thrift store yesterday and saw a cast iron pig just like yours. It must be fun to create new collages with vintage items, especially those with memories like your candlesticks.
