and I tuck them into vignettes around the house
I have spent the last few days setting out full heart displays in every room.
I made this little embroidered piece when we were in Kauai at Christmas
and this quilt was my project last week - yes, I cheated and machine quilted it.
I bought a rusty metal heart garland months ago
and added it to the dining room shelf.
Supplies from the garage are filling up the guest room

Supplies from the garage are filling up the guest room
and my rusty red cart is being used as a work table for my creativity.
The cloth hearts are a couple of years old and I just added some string to make a garland for my chalkboard.
I cut a variety of sizes of hearts out of book pages and have been playing with them the last few days.
I've made a couple of three dimensional vertical garlands
that will be put into cute little muslin bags from Michael's
and mailed off to friends tomorrow.
This little spool of hearts is an experiment - I thought it would look cute draping out of a bowl.
I am not quite finished adding Valentine's everywhere, but scenes like this are getting in my way.
It's difficult to stay inside when Lulu is crying to be taken to the beach.
But, I am determined
to finish fluffing tomorrow
before we head back outside.

I absolutely love the heart garland you made out of pages of books. That is just so creative, and so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your creativity in display, I am getting lots of ideas. I especially like the garland gift , sending it to loved ones in the little muslin bags.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could be as disciplined as you with the beach right outside the window... simply beautiful.
CAROL! You are bringing spring to us NOW! I absolutely love that shot of your eating area with the garland up above. That is perfectly spring and KEEP IT that way until the scorching summer months. LOVELY!
ReplyDeleteI love hearts too, and can't stop creating them.
ReplyDeleteI love the ones you have created and collected.
Those scenes would definitely be beckoning me to come outdoor too, especially before it gets too hot to enjoy.
Have a lovely weekend ~ FlowerLady
so cute! hearts and stars, can't get enough of either of them!!!

You've inspired me to pick up a pencil and jot down a few project ideas of my own, things I've been meaning to do but haven't. The heart garland you sent me, quite some time ago, is still strung across my window in my guest/desk room. It makes me smile, Carol!

I love hearts too. Love all your tucked hearts. Valentine's is so easy to simply add a few and your done. Dean actually does a little tree. I have the same chicken tureen.
ReplyDeleteI love hearts too! We should all have a club. ♥
ReplyDeleteYour cottage looks amazing. Now go get the leash and take that little baby Lulu out to the beach.
You know how much I love hearts, too and now I'm determined to start bringing mine out again for Valentine's Day. My favorites are the puffy hearts you made and mailed to me a couple of years ago. I love the hearts you made from the book pages and how you made them 3D - very cool! BTW, I'm crying to go to the beach, too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThose vertical heart garlands are so clever and cute. I might have to try that today. It amazes me that you accomplish so much with the beach just steps away, and especially with a cute canine companion like Lulu encouraging you to play!
ReplyDeleteI "heart" visiting YOU! Always so much fun to see your creative eye at play. And

that quilt you made!
Hope your time at the beach was a good one. If I had one so close by, Duhgall would be begging to go, too. He loves the beach.
Happy Day, Carol!
Carol you have so many sweet reminders of Valentines day. The vignettes are so darling. Thanks for sharing on SYC! Jo
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love all the little touches of Valentine's Day all around your cottage. So charming!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, I have no idea how you get so much done. You have added love to every room in your cottage and it all looks so lovely :) You've got that magical & whimsical touch. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove all your hearts, and the quilt turned out so pretty ! Bracing for some snow here so that beach looks wonderful AND you now have me craving cinnamon red hot hearts, ha ha ! :)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all your hearts here and there. So far I just have my heart dishtowel out but I'm going to get more once I've finished this comment. See, you are inspiring!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Carol, I so agree with you.... I love hearts in all forms. I was talking to my quilty friends the other day and they pointed out that every quilt I had made had hearts added in one form or another. I have hearts hanging from my doors.... even my engagement ring has a heart, so I obviously started loving hearts many years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love your vertical hearts made from paper.... they look lovely and all the hearts dotted around your home make me smile.
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you manage to get out and about for your walks.
Best wishes
Daphne
What a lovely visit, I just let out a sigh of contentment and thank you for the sweet break in my morning.
ReplyDeleteJoy
I love your decorating style! Appreciate your stopping by Quaker Hill Farm! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love all your collection of hearts scattered about your home. The rusty heart garland over the window is so cute! I must think about getting out my few hearts and vintage Valentine cards to enjoy the next few weeks. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeletehearts are so special to me. I have many that I like to put out this time of year. You are so creative with your garlands and the paper hearts! So sweet. Enjoy the beach, it is rainy and cold here with a chance of snow tonight.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
I agree with you 100% - hearts all year round but go crazy after putting the Christmas decorations away lol. May I ask how you made the dimensional hearts? What a lovely gift and I especially like how you "anchored" with a key....
ReplyDeleteEnvious of your seaside - pretty cold here in mid Michigan :)
Carol you're killing me ... Showing the glorious beach photos when tonight into Sunday a blizzard is arriving and dropping over 2 feet of snow in Philly. You're a woman who has a big heart and shows a lot of heart so your heart displays are perfect. I love all your Valentine's Day vignettes. The spool with hearts cascading down is adorable. The paper cut outs are sweet spinning around, for certainly in your cottage love is in the air...
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Carol, Waa, I am like Lulu, I want to go to the beach too. :) I love all those wonderful hearts touches. You know that window seat is my favorite spot and the garland above it is perfect. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI love all your hearts ~ and congrats to the lucky friends who get a book page heart garland!
ReplyDeleteI could never resist Loverly Lulu OR the beach!!
I am loving all your heart touches. The rusty heart garland is so cute and I love the little embroidery you did. You always inspire me to get going and get my craft on!
ReplyDeleteLove all the hearts..I am especialy loving the garlands! Definitely going to make a couple of those. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love the sweet hearts tucked in here and there throughout your home. The pieced one with Amour is among my favorites! Everything you do is so creative and you have a wonderful knack of displaying them. Your friends are going to love their sweet gifts! I started pulling mine out today. Red and white, they just make us both happy!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Carol, you are so creative - love all your hearts. i only have one silver plated one. I should get busy and make some.

I've been putting hearts out in our little nest, too. I don't really decorate for Valentines Day but I do add more hearts around...
ReplyDeleteyours all look so pretty.
I love all your vignettes. I love hearts, and it is nice that you tuck them in here or there all year round, not just now. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteI think I love every photo that you posted today. I am inspired to make a heart garland and hang it inmy living room. It is so grey and dreary here at the moment. I am sick to death of rain and could do with a bit of cheering up
ReplyDeleteLove all your hearts and the way you incorporate them into little vignettes everywhere. By the way it's not cheating to machine quilt. Even expert quilters do it ❤️
ReplyDeleteMay your home be as filled with love as it is with hearts.
ReplyDeleteI like your hearts! I know that Valentines Day will be here soon. I'm looking forward to February since I will be getting some new furniture and appliances delivered then. I guess that will be my Valentines Day present. Ha Ha! I have a pillow with a heart on it and I use it year round since it's neutral. Hope you are enjoying your beach this time of year while the East coast is digging out of snow. Luckily, we just got a dusting but I think some people north of us will be on the phone making reservations for the beach as soon as they can get a plane out of there!
ReplyDeleteI love hearts too, and have them around the house all year 'round. Like you, though, I go a bit wild at Valentine's. I like your three-dimensional hearts very much and have enlarged the picture to see how you've done it. They are very sweet!
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is outstanding, Carol. The colors are lovely and the fact that you made it in Maui must make it such a special remembrance.
ReplyDeleteyou are so talented artistically. I'm still trying to get my Christmas decor down and you're already ready for Valentines! So do love the shelf over your windows. Could you show the whole length of it in a post sometime so I can see how it is held up? I am thinking of doing some type of shelf like that between two shelving units.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt and I'm amazed you could make it in just a week! I {heart} your hearts!
ReplyDeleteIf I knew how to insert a heart symbol, I'd say "I (heart) this post!"
ReplyDeleteLove all your little hearts!
ReplyDeleteYour hearts everywhere are so sweet and great looking....I love the pop of red they add. My favorite is the book page vertical garland!
ReplyDeleteLove all of your fluffing with hearts! You do so many cute things and are so good at sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Judy
Your collections always amaze me Carol, you have such unique things and always display then in such a creative way. Your heart collection is fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteI love the heart garland, Carol. I also love the serenity and happiness of your blog, I always enjoy my visits.

You have the best collection of darling hearts to use in your sweet cottage, Carol! And if I may say again how enchanting your cottage is for every season and holiday!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
You are sooooooooo creative Carol!! I love seeing all the hearts, and the loving that you share with us ♥
ReplyDeleteCarol, I seriously thought that the sailboat pic was a painting!! My goodness, you truly live in a beautiful, beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteLove all your hearts, from the crafty to the culinary, they're all TOO cute!
Poppy
They are all so sweet but the garlands are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteHearts are such a fun shape to decorate with. I am planning on getting my little collection out tomorrow! Your paper hearts are really fun, and I like your experimental spool! Enjoy the week ahead. Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the cute little quilted amour heart. I wish I could sew!
ReplyDeleteYou're never finished fluffing though-LOL Love the wire garland hanging off the shelf above the window and the book cutout hearts are so very clever. Valentine O Valentine, You Stole My Heart with this post.
ReplyDeleteI love all the hearts but I think I would be like Lulu wanting to get down to the beach! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteSO...........I was thinking - everyone keeps saying I have to write a book - I think you need to have a series of books showcasing your photography Carol - and your vignettes - really - a win/win.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous - every single photo !
XOOX
Hi Carol, love all of your assorted hearts scattered about the house. Very cute! Have a good rest of your week and thanks so much for hosting!
ReplyDeleteGina
I love your hearts . I never thought of this before but your style reminds me of Mary Emmerling( I know the spelling isn't right). And now I remember I have a book of hers on hearts. No idea where that book is but hopefully it will surface.
ReplyDeleteCarol, each and every one of your hearts make me smile. I, too, like the heart shape, and have picked up special hearts all my life. Found one in CA this weekend at the gift store at Getty Villa. It is a tiny brass heart shaped spoon. I will share it on the blog soon. I'm headed to my storage unit soon to bring home my boxes of valentine things. I'm ready to trade out the snow people for hearts. '-)
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with machine quilting. That's how I mad all my quilts over the years than bought a Gracie quilter rack so I could add my sewing machine to quilt all my pretty designs on the top.
ReplyDeleteLove all your inventive cute hearts. I have many prim hearts that I made years ago that sit in my studio year round.
i HEART all your hearts. LOL I love you ladder full of quilts. Wow that view looks picture perfect. Are you sure Lulu was crying or were you? hehehe
