When I got up this morning, my plan was to take this cabinet from red to blue.
But, while eating breakfast, I noticed that the flowers in the centerpiece on the table were wilting and needed to be replaced.
First, I needed to change the table runner
and create a new centerpiece.
With that done, I decided that I should go ahead and set the table for dinner.
Setting the table seemed to take longer than usual
because I decided the yellow bowls needed embellishment.
The table setting was finally finished, but that cabinet was still red -
I should have painted the cabinet next, but the elements for the centerpiece were stolen from my little red wagon and I needed to something about it.
Instead of creating a new vignette with the wagon, I decided to move the little blue table to the garden house.
As you can see from this photo, I had to move lots of things out of the garden house.
By the time I finished the rearranging, it was noon and the cabinet was still red.
Normally by this time, we would be heading to the beach with Lulu, but we had a carpenter building a gate by the garage and were tied to the house.
Instead of taking a walk, I grabbed the Federal Blue milk paint and tackled the cabinet.
I am happy with the change, but Steve hates change and messes so I quickly got the cabinet back into place - I have to wax the cabinet tomorrow.
By 4:00 p.m., my morning goal was complete and Lulu,
who had been waiting all day, got her walk to the beach.
In the end, I wasn't a dilly dallier after all because that would mean I don't accomplish things.
And it's a good thing that I'm not a dilly dallier because the carpenter says I need to get paint on the wood right away.

I would say that you accomplished alot that day. Lulu waiting for you to take her on her walk - so cute. I would hate for you to see my garden plastic storage shed - it's a hot mess.
ReplyDeleteLike all the changes you made and the chest looks really good.
Enjoy your weekend.
Mary
This was such a cute post and Lulu looks so sweet and patient : )
ReplyDeleteOh ... memories of my dear mum came flooding back when I read this. She very often used to say 'don't dilly dally' you've got a lot of things to do! Which is so true - and reading your lovely post you got a lot accomplished so well done.
ReplyDeleteI like the change from red to blue.
I'm off soon to dilly dally with some chores and the weekend shopping!
Have a good weekend.
All the best Jan
I love the runner. Will have to see about finding me one about the same color for my dining room in the spring. I am the same way, wake up and have plans to do one thing and end up doing another. HA! HA!
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with decorating, setting the table, painting the chest, although I did like the red. Change takes getting used to.
ReplyDeleteI am a big time procrastinator, especially since DH is no longer with me. Seeing your posts and your sweet place always inspires me to get up off my seat and do something.
Have a lovely weekend ~ FlowerLady
Ah the fine art of dilly dallying! I know it we'll, and it is so much fun! I love all that you accomplished!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, MISS LULU has grown into quite the statuesque garden monument! HAHAHHAHAHH....she is hilarious. AND.....that cabinet in blue is the key! I love red, but blue this year is really matching up so beautifully with the fall colors that I think it's been taking my world by storm. Carol, your place is lovely in all seasons.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a dilly dallier because you accomplished a lot! Love seeing photos of Princess Lulu. Why did you want to paint your cabinet? Love the blue!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a dilly dallier because you accomplished a lot! Love seeing photos of Princess Lulu. Why did you want to paint your cabinet? Love the blue!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you WERE a dilly dallier that would be okay too!
ReplyDeleteFor some strange reason your post made me think of the book When you Give a Mouse a Cookie and now I have the strongest urge to pull it out.
Carol, That sounds like me...I start out to do one and end up doing others. I tell my husband that is how I get the house clean. LOL. The cabinet looks fabulous..so all in all you actually accompliced more than you planned..See how that works. LOL. I do love the table scape too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteCarol...I mean accomplished...lol susie

ReplyDeleteOmigosh I love that blue!!! Love your style my dear!

Changing one thing always leads to changing other things...I know that path. Love the cabinet in blue! I'm glad Lulu got her walk on the beach.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Carol, I do not think that you ever have to worry about moss growing under your feet, LOL. You are always busy changing things up . . . is your next post going to be painting the gate?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Connie :)
It looks so pretty with that particular painting above it! I just love photos of Lulu.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Such a fun post Carol! My day today has been much like yours. I start one thing and it leads to another and so on, but I did get the project complete that I set out to do. Lulu has gotten so big! She is so cute! Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling a whole day can go past without doing the first thing you were going to do when you woke up but that's often the way of things.
ReplyDeleteMerle.......
And that's the way something gets done! I really like your table centrepiece and the place settings on the plaid cloth. The cabinet looks great in blue. And it did get done. Along with some other chores. All is well. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaHa! I tend to move from one thing to another...just like that.
ReplyDeleteYou accomplished quite a bit. I wish my kids would dilly dally like you do! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am the same way...good intentions, then get distracted by other stuff. But you were a good girl anyway and got the cabinet painted the same day! I really like the blue color.
ReplyDeleteYou got alot done! I like the new color of your chest. Your table setting looked so pretty too. You sound like me when it comes to trying to get something done. i may not get it done exactly when I set out to but it does eventually get done!
ReplyDeleteBesides me smiling my head is spinning, you girlfriend makes the energizer bunny look slow! The herb of Rosemary in the yellow bowls must of scented the air and been very much enjoyed, Nice touch. Love the cabinet Blue, matter of fact love all you do. Now can we talk about Miss Lulu? Gosh miss sweetness is all grown up and looking very proud. Now stop slacking and go paint that gate!!!! Always enjoy your posts you creative one.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
We say dilly-dally as in I dilly dallied the day away. In which case it's true ... Today I did just that! That's ok... There's always tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYou may have dilly dallied but you got the blue paint on in the end. My post would have said that I never got around to it :-) I have a list on my fridge right now with the jobs that must be done... eventually!! xx
ReplyDeleteyour day sounds like mine sometimes! I have such plans for what I am going to get done, but then other things come up and I go with them. You did get what you planned done though so maybe it isn't like my days! ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat is so me! And I do eventually accomplish it all too. Your post is cute and reminded me of the children's books "If you give a Pig a Pancake" or "If you give a Mouse a cookie"!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue cabinet. And hat's off for actually painting it... My chairs didn't get even sanded today!
ReplyDeleteLove the cabinet painted blue. It sounds like you got a lot done to me. I've been taking down the wallpaper border in our dining room and living room. If has been a chore, but I hope to have it all off of the walls soon.
ReplyDelete~Cindy
So cute! Reminds me of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie".
ReplyDeleteYou call it "dilly dallying"...I call it a productive day! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you accomplished alot. I do the shade of blue on the cabinet. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteI call it mind drift. So nice to let the inner eye direct your day.
ReplyDeleteI would never use that term to describe you! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the changes you made, and Lulu is so darling. She has certainly grown!
Hi Carol, my first time here. Vicky from Life on Willie Mae Lane told me that I should visit because she thinks my dog may be the same breed as yours?
ReplyDeleteI looked at LuLu's photos and I am not sure if she is a Doodle of some sort? MY dog is a Portuguese Water Dog...LuLu could be that breed too!
I love the blue color...and your post sounded like most of my days...one thing leads to another it seems! ;)
You have a beautiful home and living near the beach...you are so very lucky! Someday I will get back home by the sea!
Have a wonderful week!
Kimberley
I'm not sure if I'm encouraged when I visit you or depressed - LOL! You accomplish SO much in a day, I feel lazy! Oh well, I sure do get lots of great ideas from your blog and truly enjoy seeing your colorful and happy life!! Many blessings for a great week! Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh, but dilly-dallying is such a wonderful part of any day and of life!!! I'm all for it. Love love the blue cabinet: so there, you DID accomplish lots in this one day. Your house, and your blog, are so colorful, I love visiting here!
ReplyDeleteAll throughout I kept wondering what tone of blue the cabinet would be and I really the soft blue color you picked out to paint it. Like all your fans, I like to dilly dally on your blog to see all the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post!! Lulu is adorable!
ReplyDeleteKathy
It's much more fun being spontaneous and the results are so lovely. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteHa! So nice to know I'm not alone in finding one small change leads to a falling stack of changes! Love the new blue color on your cabinet. It looks great with that beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteIf I accomplished as much as you do in a day I'd be happy! Love the chest blue, a very pretty shade of blue. As I sit here typing this there is so much I should be doing, but I am exhausted from the Sister On The Fly event this past week....ugh I'm tired!
ReplyDeleteThat's more like zig-zagging. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet looks great painted blue. I like it under your husband's artwork.
Carol, you get way too much done to be a dilly dallier! I dilly dally very often during the day. I finally got a bench I bought at a yard sale painted red before we left on vacation. Too busy today to wax it and am attending a Witches tea tomorrow, so This Dilly Dallier has it on the agenda for weds. I love the table setting and the new blue color is great for a change!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Hi Carol, You certainly are NOT a dilly dallier. You got a lot accomplished and I love the cabinet in blue. Lulu is so precious!!
ReplyDeletexo
I've not enjoyed a post this much in a long time. Loved every photo and word...you got a LOT done and that chest, dressed in blue, looks amazing. I also love the fram on your photos....Pic Monkey?
ReplyDeleteIsn't retirement grand! You amaze me how you change colors of your furniture. It's always so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou got so much done! But most important, you got to the project that was the goal for the day. Isn't that such a great feeling? The blue cabinet looks great.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
❤️Ana
My life! Exactly. One thing always leads to another. I LOVE the cabinet blue! I want to add some color to my non color and I keep coming back to blue ... or maybe red...and Lulu is so pretty! By the size of her, I bet she walks you :)
ReplyDeleteToo funny...I do get around to things eventually but sometimes it's weeks later. My problem is I run out of steam. But as long as there is progress made I am okay with it. I love the blue and I'm really not a blue person...I think it was that 'country blue' that was around for so long I thought I didn't like blue but I have discovered a new love for it and pink...which I never cared for. I'm becoming more open and adventuresome in my old age plus living alone means I don't have to compromise! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou do soooooo much Carol. You are one person I would never label as a dilly dallier. Gorgeous garden house and I love your table centerpiece! Lulu is a doll! xoxoxoxoxo Jen
