I'm slowly adding Fall decor - a little each day.
I stole some of the plants from the front of the house
and replaced them with little pumpkins.
My original plan was to use mostly Halloween decorations, but after Lulu ate the BOO banner, I rethought my plans.
I moved a few things around in the entry.
The only money I spent on decor was for about 2 dozen little pumpkins.
With few bookshelves in our little cottage, I do a lot of stacking books for vignettes.
I chose "Book of Days" and when I flipped it open,
I found several pages with the perfect poems for the season.
The dining room didn't get much in the way of fall decor -
the brightly colored Rudbekia plant on the table has been on the table for awhile
and will stay until the plant begs me to plant it.
I brought my scale out of the kitchen
and used a linen napkin instead of a pot for a rose bush.
I ended up using only a few fall items to decorate
focusing instead on fall colors
flowers
and pumpkins.
Tomorrow I'll finish the living room as I continue to add fall little by little.

Your home is beautiful autumn.....love your dog...so sweetie !!...happy day x
ReplyDeleteLulu and the Boo banner....I am so sorry but I did have a good laugh at that one, as she looks so sweet and innocent.
ReplyDeleteYour home is lovely in any season. I love that painting in your entry way and that sweet yellow and green piece. You have a knack for decorating and it makes one feel good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall ~ FlowerLady
Your home is so lovely that the Fall decor only enhances the colorfulness of your home and lifestyle. You make me want to move to the seashore and become a better person.
ReplyDeleteOh, that MISS THING ate the BOO banner? And look at her look...so casual, so "HUH? ME? YOU LOOKIN' AT ME?" teeeheheee....
ReplyDeleteCarol, I sure miss you. I miss your comments, I miss our chats over the summer. But it's fun to see you on IG, your home looks marvelous, and you have inspired this GRAY and WHITE lovin' woman to see the primary colors in a different way. Now, I see them everywhere and I want to photograph them!
Lovely shot at fall décor. We too are waiting a bit for the real colors of the trees to show through, but it's been unseasonably WARM!
It looks so beautiful! I hope one day I will have the time to do seasonal decor. Nowadays all I ever seem to do is take on HUGE DIY projects that take forever to do...
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!

Love your use of all the tiny pumpkins. I still need to get some. It looks nice and sunny at your place :) It's in the 40's and 50's here....getting pretty chilly.
ReplyDeleteLulu is perfect in your fall decor (or any of your decor, for that matter). I love the light streaming in the DR - that looks like fall to me. Nice, subtle touches - all of them.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Your home is looking so charming for the fall season. I love the tiered basket of pumpkins and the shot of your dining room with the open door in the background. And you really have quite the green thumb, everything looks so vibrant and healthy.
ReplyDeleteI really like how your touch of Fall looks. I'm keeping it simple this year also. I do enjoy your vignettes so much.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Hi Carol, I don't even know how to comment on your designs and arrangements. I love them all! You have a very special knack for pulling everything together and making it marvelous :) I will say that the little Halloween toy setting in the windowsill behind Lulu did put a smile on my face. I also love the old rusty watering can and bucket. I have a question that maybe you can help we with. I know that there is a paint that you can use to make things look rusty, do you know what it is? I would like to repaint my old bicycle with it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Connie :)
I love these visits to your place! Keep the ideas coming~
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly adding Fall to the Charmer too. I might get more done if I stayed home and not head out with Minnie, but cold weather will be here soon and I'm want to play as much as I can! Your home looks lovely as always!
ReplyDeleteOkay Carol I will admit to laughing at the Boo banner/Lulu adventure. Gosh she looks so innocent laying there... Well actually she kind of looks a little sorry. All your Fall touches are lovely ideas, great vignettes and natural beauty of flowers and my favorite Pumpkins. I always enjoy a tour around your cottage. Come and enter my giveaway.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
It looks so peaceful and lovely...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to come sit on your porch for a while.

ReplyDeleteI love it all -from the flowers to the pumpkins to the bright fall feel to your home. So glad you are feeling well enough to decorate. That, as Martha Stewart says, is a good thing. xo Diana
I appreciate your focus on Fall colours. An homage to the season rather than one event. Do you get many trick or treaters? Perhaps Lulu wanted to avoid them this year.
ReplyDeleteI love your touches of Fall...so pretty!!

I slowly add fall, too, because it seems to stay around for so long! Through Thanksgiving, at least.....I might put autumn stuff away next week and strictly have Halloween out. That might be fun, and then put more Thanksgiving stuff out.
ReplyDeleteI like what you've done so far. I like the colorful pumpkins. You have one of the cutest cottages in the world, Carol!
Carol, it all looks wonderful! I love the three tiered stand and how you've filled it with plants and pumpkins! Little Lulu probably can't resist such beauty! lol!

Everything looks great Carol! Sadly, I have yet to decorate for fall. I keep hoping to drag my boxes out of the shed, but haven't done so yet. I need to get on the ball! Soon...maybe tomorrow! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful touches! I love that painting in your entry way and that sweet yellow and green piece. I love your style. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteEverything is beautiful, and even the light looks different. I wish it would cool off here. I finally started to blog again, because I thought it was getting cooler, but darn, it's going to be triple digits the next three days. Southern California has the best weather drought or not. xoxo Su
