August is turning into a month of creativity - one project a day!
I went through my Pinterest boards and IG photos I have saved to choose projects that used up supplies I have on hand.
I saw this cute little swing on Instagram from Blueberry Jam Shop and I thought a swing would look nice in the garden.
It felt like something was missing
so I quickly stenciled a banner to hang above the swing.
The Be Silly part of the banner definitely fits with my swing and the teacup banner I made for the garden last week - lots of silliness!
Another Instagram sighting from @inspiration_and_styling is the It's a Good Day sign.
A good friend dropped off a bin of wood scraps for our fire pit and I saved a few pieces for projects.
My sign hangs on a bench in the garden reminding us that every day is a good day.
I needed some accent pillows for the sofa,
looked everywhere for pillow ideas and finally remembered some dish towels I had purchased.
Two dish towels sewn together add a touch of blue to the sofa.
Another dish towel provides a bit of yellow to round out my primary color scheme.
Yesterday's project was to make a bag for my bicycle basket.
Left over drop cloth fabric forms the outside of the bag and a scrap of buffalo check was used to line the bag.
The letters stand for Steve Cook Fine Art which is Steve's business name and our street address 1162.
The only thing I am making today is "A Mess" - I am starting some of the changes in the kitchen.
But if time allows, this chalkboard I made for a baby shower my daughter-in-law gave last week will have an entirely new look tomorrow.

Such great projects!! I never thought about doing a project a day but I just may make myself that challenge soon!
ReplyDeleteGOOD MORNING! I am late, I see! I had some internet problems but I a HERE!
ReplyDeleteOH CAROL, once a day....whatever it is...for me its been writing a quote a day and taking photos a day. One can really see a difference when one practices every single day. And a project? HOW FUN IS THAT! There are so many fun things to do each day that it's hard to get it all in! School starts late in August, but meetings are after the 22nd, SO...I'm taking full advantage of the days I have before then. Today, I want to take that lush white denim you sent and make a small banner for my theatre.
I love that swing of yours! I had intended to make a fairy clothesline in my garden but never got around to it, but there is STILL TIME!
See you on IG my friend. Your presence is so special. Anita
I love the cute little swing and your new pillows, Carol! You've inspired me to tackle one of my projects after my dreaded dental appointment this morning. Happy day!
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy bee…..wow! LOVE the silliness going on in your garden, especially the little swing! :)
ReplyDeleteMost of my creativity lately has involved back to school projects and finishing-up the portrait for the portrait class I've been taking this summer. Next Monday is our last day of class *sadface*

Good Afternoon Carol, I love your little swing, it looks lovely in your garden.... and what a brilliant idea to make cushion covers from tea cloths. Although I know I will not achieve one thing a day, I know I can achieve one thing a week, so thank you for inspiring me to get on and 'do' things and to stop 'pottering' my days away,.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes

ReplyDeleteOh my, you have been so busy! Love and pinned every single project. I want a swing and a good day sign for my garden. Heading off to OR for a week with the hugs, so projects will have to wait. Love your pop of color pillows Carol. You truly are amazing! Oh, and how did I miss that teacup banner? Also, how do you save an image from IG? I didn't think you could.
