Random "Happy's"

Ricki of Art@ Home recently announced that she would no longer be hosting her Happy List link party which made me sad.

I have to admit that I didn't always link up because I didn't have an appropriate post ready, but her announcement got me thinking about what was making me happy this week.

#1 Farmer's Market & Produce Stands

Steve and I just went to the local Bed, Bath & Beyond this morning for a new featherbed and our drive home took us through strawberry fields and past 3 different produce stands.

Between Farmers' Market each Saturday and our choice of produce stands, we have a steady supply of fruit throughout the year.

#2 Fresh Flowers

In addition to strawberry fields, we are surrounded by flower fields which allow me to have a variety of flowers throughout the year.

I love that right now there are flowers in every room in the house.

#3 Winter Blooms

There isn't a lot of color in my garden (other than green), but I am able to find a little bit here and there to bring into the house.

#4 A New Piece of Furniture and Fun Finds

I apologize for the really bad iPhone pic, but this sweet little dresser is now is my living room which is causing a lot of fun changes.

While looking for the new piece of furniture for the living room, I broke my "no unnecessary spending" January rule, but I couldn't help it.

When I saw this cute bar of soap, I had to buy it - I think the teacher in me makes me love the alphabet.

The heart soap was right next to the alphabet soap and with Valentine's Day coming up, it was a must.

And then, right at the counter there was this sweet little cloche, and I don't have one, and I have been looking for one, so it too was a must.

I could not pass up this beachy towel in my color palette and if I can locate one more, I will make some pillows for the window seat.

A lot of random "Happys" on this glorious sunny day.

What is making you happy lately?

  6. I think you must live in paradise. I am happy that it is warmer today and we are in shirt sleeves after single digit temps this week. I am happy for a nice cup of coffee while writing future drafts for the blog and that my Christmas tree is finally down and my house is so clean - for the moment anyway. I am happy I found the cutest little birds at Cracker Barrell today. You are right - the smallest things make us happy - thanks for reminding us.... Cathy

  8. I am constantly happy knowing that I can connect with other happy and active people. I do know that all of us do NOT lead perfect lives, but we all at least try to share things that make and KEEP us happy and moving forward! What is making me happy today? I spent all day reading and writing. Period.

I easily get frustrated when I don't have TIME to at least sit down to read a book. The teacher in ME wants to keep learning and if I don't feel I am learning something new, I get ansy! So my happy dance today is that I started a poem, a real poem!

I love your house, your flowers, your new furniture, your vision, Carol.

Thank you for being my friend. Anita

  9. That towel looks like it was custom made for you, Carol. How wonderful to be able to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables year round at your produce stands! Today I'm happy that I installed 1 set of plantation shutters (correctly) and I'm halfway done with the other set. Oh, and it's finally warmed up and that makes me very happy!

  12. I keep a pretty mug in my kitchen and write down blessings and happy thoughts on strips of paper. I then fold the papers and put them in the mug. I've added several this year so far. Our friend Dave makes Bill and I both happy. Our new and first great grand baby makes us happy. Our warm days between the chillier ones are always great. Bill's health makes me happy. Your blog always makes me smile and makes me happy. You inspire so many people. I love coming here.

It makes me happy knowing you and that you enjoy that year around. It got up to 42 here today and it felt like a heat wave so that made me happy!! You make me smile and happy when you share the sunshine and your surroundings. I need to be a Califronia Girl ohhhhh maybe someday!!!

  15. There is nothing wrong with green in the garden! I love all of your fresh flowers and I am jealous of your fresh fruit. Our fruit here is a bit icky. And I was looking at a cloche last week but I didn't bring it home. I should have! So this may sound silly but I am so happy to have a walk in attic. It is so easy to organize my pretty things and I have room for more pretty stuff. I have been organizing it all week and I just feel happy and thankful for it.

  23. Carol,
You sure are lucky to enjoy those luscious looking strawberries! We will not get really freshly picked from New Jersey until May. All your flowers throughout your house look perky and sweet. In my kitchen right now I have white tulips that are really pretty.
Today I was very happy and pleased with completing a design for someone I was working on for awhile.
Your blog makes me happy, I really enjoy your enthusiasm and pride of ownership you write about.

Enjoy sweet dreams tonight on your new featherbed.

  32. Good Morning Carol, What makes me smile..... well at this time of year, the sun shining through the clouds, the heads of the little snowdrops peeking through the ground and like you fresh flowers around the house. How lovely to be surrounded by fields full of flowers and market farmers that are so close to where you live..... now that is a real treat.

  35. Right now Carol reading your blog :-) the sun shone in the highlands briefly this morning, I took pooch a walk when I got home from work in the pouring rain/sleet/snow we both got soaked. I have homemade veggie lasagne warming in the oven and am currently sipping hot coffee in front of the fire to dry out and as for fresh flowers in every room ???? not a chance living in the highlands in winter ( unless imported drab ones the supermarket stocks ) but your bright cheery blog has made me smile

  36. Love all your happy things! I am heading to the grocery store in a little bit and after seeing all your flowers, if they have any at a decent price, I think I'll buy some. Trader Joes has great prices on flowers, but I'm not going that way. To be determined... :-)

  38. Just reading this post has made me happy Carol! Many of the same things that make you happy make me happy. I love farmers markets! Of course, there are none to be found right now. I would be in 7th heaven if I had flowers fields close by to offer me beautiful blooms. I will be bringing a bundle home next trip to the grocers. That's the best I can do. Love that soap! And wondering where you got your fabulous numbered stakes saying '2094'? Would love some of those beauties!

  42. Carol, there are so many things that I love here! That polka dot pitcher love it! I picked up some strawberries today - unfortunately they were not locally grown... nothing is growing locally these days...

  43. Strawberry Fields Forever is stuck on replay in my mind now, which is always a good thing. I have been craving flowers lately after our terrible weather so thank you for the doze of Happy. I saw a polka dot pitcher like that just today on a DIY bloggers post so they are popular. I am happy as can be that I did not think we would get our Christmas decorations put away as fast as we did on Sunday. Now they are all packed up in one box ready for next year.

  44. Dear Sweet Carol, what a lovely post . . . I love your chalkboard garden box and it looks perfect on your new table.
I also have been wanting a cloche, did you find that at Bed, Bath and Beyond?
Your Strawberry fields made me think of the Beatles and I'm off to put them in my CD player :)
Your posts are always something that I look forward to and don't want to miss.
    Pretty, pretty, pretty . . . and I like pretty :)

  49. I like how you were able to take inventory of what's putting a smile on your face at the moment. I guess that's kind of like a gratitude journal that some people do. I think those things would make me happy too. It's too cold here to find a farmers market/produce stand. You're lucky to have that year round in your mild climate. Fresh flowers are always welcome too. Looks like you found some great items. I find that when I'm out shopping (with money in hand) I don't always find something and then when I'm just window shopping, I find everything! Guess that holds true for you too.

  50. like the happy list. IT's good to focus on what makes us happy. One thing for me is my family (husband and children)

Super list! And pretty, too! It made me happy!

  54. Carol, your home is happy with all the great colors you have and the wonderful ocean so close by. We are so lucky to have Farmers Market's in every little city. You can almost find one each day of the week. And the fruit stands with those terrific strawberries, yum. I love having flowers in every room too.
Your pictures are wonderful.... How's little Lulu? Bet she is enjoying the weather.
    Have a great week.
