Playing House

We were in the back yard with Lulu and her trainer this morning for several hours and didn't even hear a delivery truck.

When Stacey was leaving, we found 2 big boxes sitting on the porch and I knew exactly what they were.

Kris from Junk Chic Cottage won a set of Pfaltzgraff Pistoulet dishes in a giveaway on Debbie Dos .

Kris is known for her wonderful white house decorated with vintage finds, chippy old doors and beautiful furniture built by her talented husband.

The colorful Pistoulet dishes don't really match her decor and being the generous person she is, Kris re-routed those dishes from her house to mine.

The first thing I did, before opening the boxes, was to grab my copy of The Secrets of Pistoulet to explain the dishes to Steve.

The first box contained this amazing soup tureen which we will definitely make use of for Steve's famous cioppino.

I am a sucker for detail and I love the little green dots around the edge, the design on the knob and the beautifully decorated ladle.

The next box contained dinner plates with a wonderful scalloped edge in green with blue dots.

Sweet sunflower bowls with a red and white checked edging compliment the dinner plates.

The yellow scalloped salad plates with blue trim are my favorites and they will be the most frequently used because we like eating on smaller plates.

There were still more dishes to come with these cute little fruit trimmed bowls.

And finally, the box was empty when I brought out these wonderful mugs.

I can't believe all the fun dishes that are now mine after pinning them on Pinterest over 2 years ago.

As you can see, there are lots of complimentary pieces to my starter set and now that I know the colors, I am going to order those square ruffled edge blue plates and I think I need the pitcher.

I hesitated buying the Pistoulet dishes because I never saw them in person and I wasn't sure of the actual colors, but I think they work with the color in my house.

Steve teased me as I set out everything and took pictures saying that I was like a "little girl playing house" and he was right.

Do I use the little bowls or do I use the bigger bowls and where do I store the soup tureen?

Those questions along with what color tablecloth to use will be part of my "playing house" as I create a table setting for Thanksgiving dinner

  19. Oh Carol, you must be on cloud nine. These are incredible and perfect in your home. I am a bowl person. I don't know why, but bowls have always been so appealing to me, everything from tiny little finger bowls to large mixing bowls. I must say that your new bowls are a heart throb. I am sure that Kris and Debbie are both happy that they now have the perfect home and will be loved for years to come :)

  26. I am so happy that you received this lovely gift from Kris. She probably knew that you love them and they go so well with your decor. You will get so many uses for your lovely dishes. The tureen looks great in the center of your table - you can always put the dressing (Stuffing) in there or mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving. Or maybe even the gravy.
Have a fun weekend playing house.
