I wasn't feeling 100% this morning so I was being lazy and sitting on the window seat reading blogs and getting inspired.
This little table is one of my views from my perch on the window seat and on a whim I decided it needed a change.
A quick swap from the MacKenzie-Childs tea kettle holding flowers to some favorite plates
and adding books to the lower shelf and I was done - or so I thought!
I needed to find a place for the tea kettle and that meant changing these shelves
and instantly the dining room was in chaos.
Once I started putting things on the shelves,
I noticed I had a theme going -
clocks were popping up all over
and I had a sudden urge to set out all of my clocks.
As soon as this wall was completed,
I attacked the shelf over the dining room windows.
In this photo from a few weeks ago, you can just catch a small glimpse of what the shelf looked like early this morning.
Now, instead of pitchers, the remainder of my clock collection is in the dining room.
The clocks looked silly spread out so I added old bottles to fill in the space.
The soup tureen came down from the shelf and now sits on the table.
The reorganizing continued into the entry because I had to find a place for all of the pitchers.
I don't keep the cabinet doors open,
but I like having the cupboard neat and tidy.
It all started with a tummy ache
and the inspiration to simply change one little vignette in the dining room.
The next thing I knew, the entire dining room was revamped.
The tummy ache is gone and that's a good thing because I just don't have time tomorrow to change another room.
That's pretty good for a tummy ache! I love it all. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better.
There is something so charming about combining blue and yellow {like in your cupboard}.
ReplyDeleteYou do know by now, that you can't just move one thing and that's it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your new looks. You really have a knack in doing this.
Enjoy your lovely home. I am inspired every time I visit here.
Have a great week ~ FlowerLady

You're amazing to be able to pull a whole new look together while not feeling well. Love your clock tweaks! Good to hear you're feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteDear Carol, no one will never accuse you of having moss growing under your feet, or dust on your furniture. You don't leave anything the same way long enough for dust to accumulate, LOL. Oh, how I could use some of that stamina. I am in Love, Love, Love with your chicken soup tureen, she is adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week.
Connie :)
I love everything you do, tummy ache or not! I have a question. I know you have a small house. Where do you keep all your collectibles, etc., when you aren't showcasing them?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I kind of like when one thing leads to another, changing up a whole space at one time. I love the feel of a fresh new look.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
hahhaa....I love your cute sense of humor...
ReplyDeleteand I do the same thing..move a few things around and 6 hours later, I have a new-looking room...
One thing leads to another, but I've never known a tummy ache to lead to redecorating! Cute post. Love the collection of pitchers.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine you going back and forth tweaking....everything looks pretty! I love clock decor! It's the numbers! I have a thing for numbers. Hope you're having a good summer Carol!

ReplyDeleteThis is classic one thing leaves to another!
ReplyDeleteCarol, only YOU would turn a tummy ache in to redecorating a room!
ReplyDeleteCarol, all I can say is you do amazing work while you are sick! Everything look beautiful. Why can we never just make one little change without it requiring a complete makeover? Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteCarol, I guess that's one way to handle a tummy ache. '-) I'm smiling at all the clocks and the clever way you've displayed them. I have a set of those cute plates too. They were a gift from a friend last year. I like the way you have a theme in your collections. A girl after my own heart!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty and fresh. You have a wonderful clock collection, so great! Someday, when I retire (haha), I will love to take time to play decorator!! I hope you are feeling better! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteYour clock collection is so fun and I love, love blue and yellow together like you have in the cabinet. You do more sick than Oprah did in a show.
ReplyDeleteNow that is turning a lemon into lemonade if I ever heard it! Beautiful décor - both before and after!!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! I would love to spend a day in the mind of Carol Cook!
ReplyDeleteYou was truly inspired, dearest Carol, thank you for sharing your 'work' with us, I so love everything, just everything in this post of yours, sweet friend !

Oh what we do to ourselves, Carol, and how one thing leads to another! You sure work well with a tummy ache, I must say, as I love all your fun changes. The soup tureen on the table looks adorable and just made me smile.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so pretty!! Hope your tummy ache went away.
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Carol you have such pretty things that they look good no matter how they are arranged! I'm glad your tummy ache went away.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I have an idea -- why don't you have your next tummy ache at MY house and get my little house looking so good!
ReplyDeleteI really like the teapot filled with flowers. I have the same one, but it's the more yellow one. Maybe I will try that. RIght now, it is not on the stove, because I've been using my electric teapot to heat water. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteLady, you rearrange like its your j-o-b! Always beautiful vignettes and inspiration to be found here!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your tummy ache but it did have some benefits! I am always inspired by the way you change things around. Maybe I will have more time to do the same! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteIf this is what you do when your tummy aches, then I'm not sure what I'm suppose to say now.....
ReplyDeleteI mean I really don't want to wish you more aches, but... you did do a great job!
Dang what a tummy ache! I love the all the clocks and bottles on the dining room shelf.
ReplyDeleteDomino effect. Great job as always
