I did it!
My February goal was to paint 4 different pieces of furniture.
Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Eulalie's Sky transformed my old worn out dresser; I vividly remember bringing home the complete 5 piece bedroom suite in 1987.
I painted the dresser on Thursday and yesterday, the last day to make my goal, I finished waxing the dresser.
With rain falling all day, I spent yesterday reorganizing my "creative space" because I did not want the dresser top to be as cluttered as it had been.
After setting up this room in January, I realized that the height of the dresser is a perfect work surface so the main items on the dresser top are the tools I use regularly.
I also decided not to put the mirror back on the dresser and had fun creating a colorful wall for me to look at while I create.
I updated the message on my grandmother's school slate (the one she carried to school each day as a child in Kansas) and found magnets to make an Art & Sand sign.
I received these wonderful knitted cloths yesterday from Karen of My Little Home and Garden and could not bear to use them so the card sits in my bicycle wheel and the blankets cozy up my grandfather's rocking chair.
While I was on an organizing kick, I switched the tables around to create a better traffic flow.
I want to paint both tables, but
with pillows to be sewn, a banner to be painted, a quilt to be made and fun license plates asking to be cut up for projects, the tables won't be painted this month.
With rain falling since Wednesday, I did have time to dress up a wooden wine box for KC with a coat of left over Miss Mustard Seed paint and rope handles.
I definitely have a sense of accomplishment - I met my January goals.
I met my February goals.
My March goals are not much fun, but I got a head start last night and starting a day early might be the deciding factor on whether the goals are met.

I now want to paint a dresser that I have had since I was 19!
Your creative space is so much fun! I love how the daylight filters through the white curtain.
California's much needed rain has certainly not arrived without it's series of complications. I hope the slides are far from your home.
Happy March projects!

Hope the rain isn't harming you. You're pretty dang industrious! Good call leaving the mirror off the dresser. I want one of Steve's paintings in my office.

ReplyDeleteKudos to you for such artsy accomplishments! That's a whole lot of work, Carol and it all looks so very pretty! I guess the rain helped more than you knew; firstly re: the horrible drought and secondly, it kept you indoors, where you could paint away the days, with the pitter patter of raindrops, keeping you cozy!
ReplyDeletePoppy
Your dresser looks so nice. I am sure there is so much storage in it. You have been very busy and it shows. Good luck on the March goals.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the accomplishments! I love the dresser color.
ReplyDeleteLove the color that you painted on the dresser!! Hope you aren't getting too much rain. I heard that some places out west were getting really bad flooding. We are about to get another winter storm with snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Looks like this will be a good time to do some projects. Now to figure out which ones to do first.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Congratulations on meeting your goals, something I rarely manage to do. I love the dresser in light blue. It looks so soothing. I also love the tray you made for KC... smells like summer! I'm also glad you had rain, since you told me once you really needed it. Now what are those goals for March?
ReplyDeleteCarol .....I am back !
ReplyDeleteSpring is in the air and like nature
I can feel an amazing new power in me .
I love your blog and your posts and who you are .
Thank you for being here .
Good morning Carol! Isn't it a great feeling to plan, to plot then to see or goals finally reach the "finish" line? The dresser looks FANTASTIC and I am loving every inch of your new space. That first photo as well of the zinc organizer is fantastic! I cannot wait for the snow to melt here so I can haul away some unwanted items to the consignment shop and then I can finally get my goals accomplished this spring! GREAT JOB! Anita

ReplyDeleteHi, Carol!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like I can comment now! yay!
What a great job you did on that dresser!
I used to have a big one like that.
I wanted to paint mine too but knew I never would so I gave it away when we were on the farm.
We wouldn't have had room for it here anyway so it's a good thing I didn't paint it!
I love your creative space and I think it's absolutely wonderful that you have your grandmother's slate!
(Cute rag ball garland, too) ;)
Love your craft space with all it's color. I sure need to get to mine, it looks like a disaster area right now. Thanks for the inspiration, and congrats to sticking to your goal.
ReplyDeleteCarol, BRAVAAAAAAAAAA

ReplyDeleteLooks great. Love all the colors in this room. Feels very creative. I would love for you to share at the Bacon Time linky, if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that blue color on the dresser!! It looks wonderful in your creative space. You really do Inspire me!!
ReplyDeleteI think your freshly painted dresser looks great in your craft room! And I like that you decluttered it. I seem to collect a lot of clutter stuff even though I prefer my counter tops to be clear and my craft tables clear too. But things always seem to find their way on them. I can't wait to see your quilt! I think it would be a huge accomplishment to sew a quilt in month. Hope you have a good day staying busy in the rain.
ReplyDeleteOh! What are you going to make with the Aladka license plate? I can't edit to find out!
ReplyDeleteThat should be "wait", not "edit"! Darn autocorrect!
ReplyDeleteYou are the most creative, the most talented person, Carol! And I love that you stay the course till it's done. Please come sit by me! I need remedial HELP!

You have so inspired me! We spent today organizing and cleaning up the garage which is now my play room (studio), and I see many ideas to emulate. The main thing, though, that I am taking from your post is making a schedule and setting goals. Since my husband retired, I have become rather lackadaisical! and I don't get as much done.
ReplyDeleteYou've been a busy girl! Love the colors you chose-especially that sky blue dresser. Stopping by from Sunday's Best!
