. . . the mouse ran up the clock.
It was time for an update in the guest room even though there have been no guests for months.
It was time for an update in the guest room even though there have been no guests for months.
Mainly I was ready for a different quote on the typewriter.
I have lots of clock faces and mice so I decided to use them together.
Rather than a quote, I printed out some images of vintage post cards for the typewriter and added dried flowers.
The mouse door stop was a gift from my daughter, the pocket watch was found at a Paris flea market and sadly the clock face sits in back because I broke a favorite clock while gathering items for the vignette.
I do like decorating with quotes so I wrote one on a little clipboard.
I googled quotes about time and saw one where a clock face made the O and knew that had to be my choice.
I know all the clocks and mice are a bit silly, but I like silly.
With a goose and a horse thrown in for good measure, I really should call this the animal room.
The guest room is all decorated, but we will be having guests in a few weeks
and I will have to remove a lot of stuff around the house.
My tchotchkes and creatures will be too tempting for these little boys.

Good morning Carol! That is great to know that you will be having guests. I am already feeling the emptiness of the COVID lockdown, being only a Zoom call away from friends but every summer it's the same thing: people are too busy to sit down to chat. So, I'm enjoying my quiet time while Ruben works from home.
ReplyDeleteYour guest room looks marvelous! Come to my new blog post when you get a chance and sit for a while.
Carol, Those adorable boys will be just the right addition. So cute. I loved your clocks. Blessings to you, stay safe, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteA very welcoming room! Not silly. Whimsical! We can all use a bit of that, I think. Glad to hear guests are on the way in a bit! Such cuties.
ReplyDeleteYour decorating with clocks, mice and quotes works so well during this stay at home when we do have lots of "time" on our hands! It will be great to child-proof your home for your two sweet visitors - well worth the trouble for sure! How lucky you are! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove your decorating ideas everything looks just great. The children are adorable enjoy them while they are there. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteYour guest room looks lovely and so do those cute little ones.
ReplyDeleteDearest Carol, how FABULOUS it is to see your comment this morning at my blog. Isn't it nice to just read, sit, watch the flowers in the garden, plan, hope, listen, putter...I could go on and on about the little "nothings" that mean more to me now more than ever.
ReplyDeleteI love all your little meeces! Especially the adorable door stopper` ~
ReplyDeleteHugs ~
Oh my gosh, those boys are such handsome dudes! Your guest room is a cozy nest and definitely would be a temptation for even the best-behaved littles. ♥
ReplyDeleteLove love love the theme in your guest room. Silly is sweet and I love it. Those boys are getting so big and they are such cuties. I know you cannot wait to see them. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
I think that this is my favorite view of your typewriter, Carol...it's like a vase filled with flowers and words. Fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThose kids look SO much like you! Nothing is silly as long as it pleases you. I like what you added to the typewriter instead of a quote, etc. It's different!

Carol, I have never seen the word "tchotchkes" written before. Love your room scaping. Have a great week. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you had with the clocks and mice in your guest room. Love the bedspread. Those two darling faces will make putting things away well worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteYou are a breath of fresh air! I can only imagine how nice it would be to spend time in that guest room!
ReplyDeleteI like silly too.
ReplyDeleteI see inviting and warm not silly and I love the quotes. Lucky you visitors.
ReplyDeleteI would say whimsical, not silly. I love it.....a true escape for your guests. The hand-written quote adds such personal charm! Have a wonderful time with your grands!

ReplyDeleteHow much fun to see your latest typewriter vignette! They are always fun, but this one might be my very favorite. I love it! Your little cottage always makes me smile. You are inspiring me to tackle a few projects around here, but summers are always so hectic. ;P
