Welcome to the Transitioning From Summer to Fall Blog Hop
hosted by Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home.
If you are following the hop in order, then you were just visiting my friend Judith of Botanic Blue and her decor never disappoints.
I have to say, that as much as I love "hopping" with this group of bloggers,
I was reluctant to join in this time because, as you can see, my days are still quite full of summer.
But just after I said no to the hop, I noticed the changing sun in this picture I snapped after a day of kayaking last week.
And then I noticed this odd bloom on my schefflera tree and I realized that even if I am not ready for fall, it is definitely coming.
My transition began in the guest room with the schefflera blooms - both orange and purple and any other orange flowers I could find in the garden.
All of a sudden I was on board with making fall changes, simply by adding yellow to my existing decor.
Silk sunflowers in a bag on the door welcome guests.
The table setting mimics the colors of the butterfly and coreopsis painting on the wall.
Wooden bread boards
add warmth to the plate racks.
Breakfast al fresco
is made special with a favorite set of vintage plates
and the view is bright and colorful.
The best part of adding these little touches of fall is that other than a few plants, I simply used what I had on hand.
Don't forget to check out all the other blogs on the hop for fall inspiration.
Welcome back my friend. Your cottage is beautiful as always Carol. Your skies are beautiful blue and sunshine. Loving your touches of yellow and gold.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for fall because I'm a cold weather girl, I know not the norm.
Be posting my early fall bit by bit starting this week.
Enjoy your Monday
Cindy
Your fall decorations are very nice. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteCarol, You know I love that old typewriter. I am glad you spruced it up too. Oh I will used fake flowers and the pumpkins I made from old sweaters...do not have to worry about anything spoiling. I love the changing of the trees each season, but I have to say Fall there is so nice. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLove it all. I love how you make each space so special with a different floral arrangement. The view of the garden from you table is where you would find me all day. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you decided to join in, Carol! I couldn't imagine our hops without your gorgeous flowers. I can definitely relate to it not feeling like Fall at all. It probably won't feel like Fall until late October or early November in Florida. The pops of yellow are such a great reminder that we can still celebrate all the changes that come from one season to the next though. All the special touches you've gathered here are really pretty! Hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post, Carol...your decorations are perfect for early fall!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you thought of the yellow Carol. It works perfectly with your beach cottage and looks so happy! And I totally agree, the best part is using what you already have. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your fall - when it actually gets there! ;)
ReplyDeleteCarol, I'm so glad that you decided to join in! The orange and yellow flowers are the perfect touches for fall. I always love seeing your sweet home!! Happy almost fall my friend.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Carol I can see why you were hesitant on changing the season to fall...that itself is a huge transition. I just love your home no matter what season you have it decorated in. You have the coziest and welcoming home!
ReplyDeleteCarol, your cottage is all-season ready. It's those little nuances you're noticing - the sun's position, the berries, and the saturated colors of the garden flowers - that help a Californian embrace the transition. You always do such a wonderful job of making your cottage cozy, I just love it. Steve's painting (I assume) of the butterfly/coreopsis is perfect. Happy September.
ReplyDeleteI always love visiting your home Carol. You have such wonderful early fall touches. The pops of yellow are so cheerful.
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seeing your home, your beach, and your garden. Using yellow with blue is a perfect early fall transition for a California home. The coreopsis and butterfly painting is a wonderful summer-to-fall piece for anyplace in the world, but beautiful for a sunny California home.
Judith
As always, your colorful vignettes inspire me! Your home is so happy and inviting. I feel the same way about summer...still trying to enjoy every moment!

I always love visiting your wonderful cottage. the flowers are so lovely as are your beautiful vintage dishes. The change of light is always the first sign of Fall that I notice. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteEverything is so beautiful! I love the splashes of yellow. I'm especially crushing on the coreopsis painting and the plate you used for your outdoor breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would come up with something beautiful Carol! Your early fall color is so pretty! I love the September typewriter vignette with the light orange tones especially.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the hop! I am so glad you did :)
Carol, I always love visiting your blog on these hops because I always know it's going to be a feast for my eyes! I love all your summer-to-fall touches throughout your gorgeous home. Your garden is gorgeous as always. So happy to be hopping with you!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your pretty vignettes no matter what season it is. I love the yellow added. It is still full of sunshine from Summer and a soft entry into fall. Very pretty. Glad you decided to rejoin the group. Off to look at some of the bloggers and their pretty fall.
Hugs,
Kris
Good morning Carol!
ReplyDeleteI love the transition to fall. I could have started to put things away on Labor Day, but on Monday, I did absolutely nothing. Nothing. School is requiring so much energy that I'm spent. Oh how wonderful though, to fluff up the nest and simply enjoy it.
Your decorations are lovely,
ReplyDeleteAnd a wonderful garden.
Wishing you a lovely fall,
Hugs, Ida
Everything is just perfect in your cottage by the sea.
ReplyDeleteI use all fake flowers, too....no worries with them. Working on a front door wreath right now...fall decorations are my least favorite and I don't do much of it...I am loving your yellows with the orange so I am off to buy some pretty yellows.....xo
...I am having trouble getting on the other links...? Is it just me?
ReplyDeleteI think your fall touches are just perfect. The yellow and orange flowers brighten you home even more! I especially love the photo with the sun light shining across your table and flowers. Your home reflects so much happiness and so do you. It's always a treat reading your posts Carol!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see your home, I think, "I want to go there!" It looks like a dreamy place to live, and I can imagine your summers are quite nice. I enjoyed seeing the pops of yellow around the house, and those faux blooms really do look so real! I'm glad you decided to join the hop in the end, Carol.
ReplyDeleteI swear the color of the air/light changes and we just can't hold back Fall. Here in Chicago we had no summer until the 4th of July. Lovely pretty touches you have added. And, the light alone ---I think gives interiors a bit of a golden glow!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I wondered if you even have Fall living on the west coast beach. But nature definitely knows more than we do. Bringing in subtle changes in colors in the flowers definitely signals a change in seasons.
ReplyDeleteCarol, your decor is so beautiful as usual. All the pretty garden flowers and your extra touches make fall shine..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fall vignettes! Love the guest room florals! Happy almost fall!Blessings,Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
ReplyDeleteCarol, I adore all of the wonderful pictures. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteCarol, I'm so thrilled you decided to join in this blog hop! I love everything you share with your little home by the sea. We're already feeling cooler temps and seeing some changing leaves here in Michigan, unlike in other parts of the U.S. I think you home is decorated perfectly for early fall in CA.
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle changes, Carol! It mimics the real transition of summer to fall, which, isn't all that noticeable but definitely starting to change. Here on the east coast, that means the trees are losing their bright green color, fading subtly, and the angle of the sun is definitely different. Fall's coming, and I love it, but I always hate to see summer leave.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you decided to join us, Carol! Yes, fall arrives at different times for all of us, but that's the fun of it...seeing how we gently transition:) You know I always love how you switch up your typewriter! I love how you tucked golds and oranges throughout your artistic home; beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou fall touches look lovely, Carol. It's kinda hard decorating for fall when we are just getting our hot weather, right? But, I'm actually sitting here, with the fan blowing in my window, thinking I'm a bit chilly! Nice! So glad to see you at Tuesday Turn About!
ReplyDeleteI find your coastal cottage to just be so beautiful! I love the fun colors and so idyllic!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to think about fall here in Florida, too, but I long for those cooler days! The pops of yellow you have added are perfect for a hint of the season to come! I am wishing you cooler days!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Carol, your cottage is just a dream!! So sunny and bright... What a gorgeous place to wake up to. I would love nothing more than to spend a few days in such a magical place. That lovely table is waiting for me!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.

You cottage is so charming and you know I love your use of color! I’m beginning to feel I’m accepting fall is close since it starts on the 23rd š Your garden always looks beautiful and you are so lucky to have it all year long!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful touches of fall, Carol. I've been slow to add fall here, but I'm gradually bringing in a bit. Your home is always magazine worthy.
