I started writing this post with the title, "At a Snail's Pace", but once I began editing my photos,
my thoughts went in a completely different direction.
While I was writing the post, this gorgeous bouquet of flowers was delivered.
I walked around the house
looking for the right spot to capture the beautiful colors in the arrangement.
This little swing in the garden was my favorite, but the the greenery actually took away from the flowers.
So I headed out to the beach
and continued to play with my camera.
My Canon and Picmonkey seem to be my tools of creativity these days.
I'm having fun taking pics
at different angles
my thoughts went in a completely different direction.

I have no idea what I'm doing
either in the taking of photos or the editing,
but I'm having fun.

After years of drought
and a good rainy winter,
the garden is coming alive
and providing lots of inspiration.
If anyone is looking for me,
Beautiful photos, one and all.

Dearest Carol, super. SUPER DUPER wonderful is your hobby, for I share in it with you. There is nothing more exciting to me than to write and shoot photos. Both poetry and photography require creating from various "angles" and working with the contrasts of light and shadow.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what I was doing with my camera until last year after taking a course. I still have a lot to learn, but with today's technologies and photography tricks, the results I desire are often the results from peoples' iphones!!!!!!!!!
Either way, flowers are a fantastic subject and always deliver many moments of breathtaking life lessons. Keep on having fun my friend.
It was so fun to read that you are having fun with your camera! That is what it is all about - trying new things and exploring. Your images are beautiful and so nicely done. You Go Girl!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love your candor in saying you have no idea what you're doing, but you really do. You're honing your attention to all that glorious garden detail. I personally thrill at the sight of my friends' gardens, and it's really nice to see the CA gardens flourishing. Beautiful bouquet, btw. I wonder what people thought as you walked it out and posed it on the beach for its portrait session? ;)
ReplyDeleteYour photos just keep getting better and better! I love the flowers on the beach! Enjoy! The creative process is essential to us all I think! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love your photos. . .keep playing with that camera!
ReplyDeletefor someone who doesn't know what she's doing - keep up the good work!! Everything looks so lush and beautiful. Sigh... Hope you had a happy Mother's day xo
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Carol, wherever the bouquet is placed. Your garden is charming! I've been doing the same, trying to learn how to deadhead different flowers.
ReplyDeletePoppy:)
Oh my goodness, if anyone was looking for me . . . I would be in your garden, too. Carol, it is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your flowers . . . inside and out . . . and your camera.
Happy Mother's Day!
Connie :)
Great flowers ....love Ria x ❤️
ReplyDeleteThe bouquet is so gorgeous, Carol. And you are lucky to have so many pretty flowers to work with in your vignettes while playing with your camera. It's a rainy cold day here in the Maritimes of Canada but the weather looks more promising this week. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this post Carol! I enjoy your flower pictures so much, and the way you style them and make them interesting...and those gorgeous colours! Keep on playing!

Hi carol
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos of flowers. That delphinium is amazing. I've never seen a short variety like that! Hope you're having a wonderful Monday!
How beautiful...especially the photos at the beach! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI love them all! I do Ribbet - I used to do PicMonkey.....perhaps I'll go back to them! Love your edits!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - playing is fun! If you're serious about editing your photos, you should learn Photoshop. I need to learn how to use my DSLR...one of the things on my creative to-do list.

Your garden looks absolutely lovely, so many flowers and you have the knack to capture pretty vignettes, even outside!
ReplyDeleteCarol, you sure look like you know what you're doing! Your photos always look amazing and I love the way you style your home. The bouquet of flowers is beautiful! Love this time of year when the garden comes alive! I tried using photoshop for editing but it's too difficult for me. I like lightroom and love picmonkey!

Carol, Keep on playing, it's all so wonderful. I loved how you carried the bouquet around getting so many pictures. Oh yes, your gardens are looking beautiful. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI wonder how often we stop just to have fun with our camera? So often we're in such a rush to finish a post that it becomes another job and time with picmonkey becomes a means to an end when it should be just what you've written about here--a creative outlet that is fun. You've reminded me of times past when I gleefully took time to play around with camera and photo editing, just for the pleasure of it. Thank you! Your results are lovely and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos and garden... Seeing your beautiful photos inspires me.
Judith
A delivery like that would stop me in my tracks, and yes, I'd find my camera for a photo shoot. I love all of your flower shots. Playing like that is good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteGreat great pictures! You are a really good photographer!!
ReplyDeleteWarm hug from Titti
It IS the playing and experimenting that counts, isn't it? Your pictures have a real style and you always frame them in the same way...your trademark! Photography has opened up doors, and worlds, for many of us!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures!!!
