In my last post, I talked about using flowers and greenery in my vignettes.
When I brought home this little rocking bird from an after Christmas sale, I noticed that I frequently use animals too.
After I put the rocking bird on the mantel,
I went looking to see if I could find any more birds - the aqua bird was hanging outside on a vintage window
and the birdbath was tucked into the garden.
As I stood back and looked at the mantel, I wondered what other animals I would find in my vignettes.
A whale watches over the living room
and a horse stands guard in the guest room.
as does a felted "Little Lulu" my sister gave me for Christmas.
I was surprised to find that the most common animal to be seen in the house was a bird -
on a candleholder in the living room,
on a shelf in the kitchen
holding twine in the guest room
and watching over linens in the hallway.
And then there is the most important animal in the house.
Lulu is a little sad because her curly locks were cut off last week.
It might seem silly to others, but I enjoy our little "animal house".

ReplyDeleteCarol, I love all your animals. I have lots of birds around here also. I love them inside and outside. Tell sweet Lulu the difference between a bad hair cut and a good one is 3 weeks. :):) I love seeing freshly groomed pets. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteYou do have a lot, and so nice to meet them. The last the best of all in all his black furriness! Enjoyed the tour.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your little animal house, too.
ReplyDeleteA pleasure to see all the birds and animals who joined in with your vignettes.

Long live little beasties! I have them all over my house too, including a 3 foot tall unicorn!
ReplyDeleteAnimal house indeed! Love your quite interesting collection of animals. Lulu is the best of course. I find I have a lot of birds and cats (go figure) with my sweet Annie Belle being the best animal living here!! Now I'll have to take photos of all my birds!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love the little rocking bird! Tell Lulu that I think she looks quite beautiful with her short fur.

I like that you noticed all the creatures around your house. I have quite the bird figurine collection, but I don't bring them out until spring. I also collect owls and those are displayed around the basement family room. Love your new rocking bird! I agree that Lulu is the cutest animal of all in your house. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlways pretty things!! And gorgeous Lulu!!
ReplyDeleteLove all your animals too - they do look so good in your vignettes.
ReplyDeleteLulu looks like she is sad. I can see that she is the favorite animal in your house.
I am loving the rain abd so are my flowers - they look like their dancing.
Have a great weekend.

So pretty! And it made me laugh, because I started to look around our house and found...bears, pigs, horses, dogs, lambs, deer, and birds! Quite a menagerie!
ReplyDeleteI love the birds and animals in your house. I always feel like I am coming to such a happy spot when I visit your blog/home. It makes me smile and feel cheerful.
ReplyDeleteNow- I have a few ANIMALS in my house, too, but they all have two legs. Some of them have even been tamed over the years. xo Diana
I love your little animal house..I have birds, too, and a rabbit or 2..but now, I am sure I need a pig of some kind...oh, I do have 2 adorable pigs in a painting print...:)
ReplyDeleteAnimals and greenery bring life to a room...even if they're not (all) alive! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your little animal house Carol. I love that sweet rusty bird feeder vignette. Super cute and pretty. Love your big animal Lulu with her new do. She is the sweetest of all the animals. Happy Friday. Have a wonderful weekend.

I just love how bright and cheerful your house is!
ReplyDeleteMy husband often teases me but HE LOVES the fact that our house too is full of animals. An antique wooden horse, a wooden repro that looks really great, a few other animal motifs and wait until you see this one, Carol: a white taxidermy peacock. Yes, you heard right. He'll be coming to my house around March...I couldn't resist since I've wanted one for so long, and this one is smaller than many you'd see, and the price was right. Nature in the home is comforting! Your header, your home, OHHHH it all looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour home is whimsical and of course the sweet small animals would be there. Amazing what you find in your own home when you really seek it out. I love the all white look of your cottage and your blog....it suits them fine!
ReplyDeleteI love your animal house! They all look very happy in your house, especially Lulu! I have lots of birds too, and a few roosters!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love your animal house, but the birds are my favorite except for Lulu who is the cutest!
ReplyDeleteLove your animal house Carol! The birds look so decorative...and the little garden birdbath is such a nice idea to have in the house! Lulu is the sweetest animal of course!

Thanks for sharing your many animals, inanimate and animate! I like the saying on the clipboard that's with the bird holding twine, about the attitude of the happiest people. I am going to jot that message down and put it in a prominent spot. Thanks again for sharing the treasures in your home.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use the word silly to describe your adorable cottage....whimsy or whimsical, maybe, but never silly!
ReplyDeleteLove all the 'animal' vignettes......I have a lot of birds too....and my real furry pets are the best...Lulu is so sweet isn't it funny how they act after a bath or haircut?
ReplyDeleteI love your menagerie of birds and animals Carol. They are all so sweet and unique too. And, of course, Lulu is just adorable. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteTell Lulu that her curls will grow back. That is what I tell myself after a bad hair cut.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your vignettes. The animals add a nice touch.
Love your little "animal house" it graces you with humor and sweetness,

I have a thing for birds in decoration as well, one of the only figurative thing I love in decoration, actually! Tell Lulu she's as cute as ever!
ReplyDeleteI love the little piggies in your entryway and the felted dog, too! But the winner is clearly Lulu. She's just so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteI had to take a look around our house, and I seem to have some sort of critter in just about every room!
Have a great weekend, Carol!
Lulu is definitely queen of all the other animals around the house. I love your rocking bird.
ReplyDeleteNot silly at all! I enjoyed seeing all the animals around your house. You probably did not realize you had so many until you started looking for them. You always find such unique pieces and create the most beautiful vignettes. Lulu is such a pretty girl...even without all the curls. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteCarol, the animals add a bit of whimsy to your vignettes which are delightful! Love the new little rocking birds. I have a lot of birds in my house as well. Lulu is certainly a sweet animal to have in your house! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

I love all the beads and animals you add to your vignettes. Poor Lulu lost her locks. She's such a pretty girl. Those locks will be back soon.
