In my last post (over a week ago) I wrote that I was Finding Balance.
I was busy making pillows, embroidering
and creating vignettes.
But, I think I jinxed things because we just had a crazy mixed up week.
We escaped to a charming spot in the town of Ojai, just a few miles inland and took Lulu on her first vacation ever.
She started crying (what a Drama Queen) when she saw the suitcases and was surprised when we told her to hop in the car where she found her crate filled with her favorite blankets and toys.
She had fun playing in the meadow in the back 40 of The Blue Iguana - new smells and the crackle of leaves beneath her feet kept her busy.
Steve and I were happy to tuck into one of the cute cottages to simply relax.
Lulu was happy to be back home and oblivious to the fact that we were frantic due to a gas leak.
Fortunately we were able to have a new gas line installed the following day
and life is back to normal.
I'm busy preparing for guests on Wednesday
and happy that things are no longer out of whack.
That was scary! Glad everything is okay. What a slap to the senses to just start to relax and WHAM! All such pretty pictures, though, that if you didn't read the words, you'd think what a beautiful time!
ReplyDeleteYay for normal! There's no place like home, and nothing scarier than a gas leak. Well, maybe there is, but gas is definitely extremely high on the list! Have a great week with your guests. Happy November, Carol.
ReplyDeleteHappy to read things are back to normal! It seems there are always 'hiccups' we need to address! Glad that Miss Lulu had a great little vacay! Enjoy your company! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear she got to go to. So sad when they whimper and don't want you to go. Hope you have a restful week at home this week.
ReplyDeleteHappy everything is back to normal and that Lulu got to go on a mini vacation with y'all! One of my favorite bloggers lives in Ojai!

It's always something...
ReplyDeleteFor us this week were 2 urgent trips to the vet for Bailey, and our hot water heater sprang a leak & needed to be replaced.
Glad Lulu enjoyed her first ever vacay!!

Love that some of your out of whack was a good time at your cottage get away. Lulu being able to go on a short vacation was so sweet too. Glad things are calming down for you Carol. Have a great new week.

Life is often full of surprises. Looks like you stayed in a lovely place. Glad you're back home and all is well.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you caught wind of that gas leak soon! And Lulu, miss THANG.....I bet she too is happy that she can just lounge (she is too funny) in the sun and just let any troubles melt away. WELCOME HOME!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd say you 'went with the flow' of what was handed to you and did very well, Lulu too.
ReplyDeleteIt always good to get back home, and as always your vignettes of your sweet home are lovely.
Happy Fall ~ FlowerLady
sounds like a fun vacation for all of you! Sorry about the gas leak, what a worry!! I was out of whack all last week as well, maybe it's the moon? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take much to get me out of whack also! Glad all is well.
ReplyDeleteYour house must be such a treat for visitors.
ReplyDeleteWow! Gas leak is scary. I'm glad things are getting back to normal. Lulu is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteWow you did have quite a week! I love that first photo especially. It looks like you had a cute place to sit out the tenting!
ReplyDeleteEvents that just pop up out of the blue are always troublesome but nice when things are normal again.

Oh Carol i'm so glad it's all over. Lulu looks so darn oblivious to all the stress, she's so cute. Also, we had to go back to sacramento for a quick weekend visit and I stopped by the antique stores on 57th street--you can get there off H street. That's where you can go with your daughter (if you haven't been already) It's right there on the edge of the fabulous forties, a cluster of fun shops with a place to eat. I always go there with my parents.
ReplyDeleteWhen it rains, it pours! Glad to hear it's all behind you now. Enjoy your guests!! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, so glad all is fixed and back to normal. Gas leaks are very scary!! Looks like a cozy place to stay while the gas lines were being fixed and the termites addressed. We have them in Texas too and we did a treatment about 15 years ago drilling all around the perimeter of the house which was a lifetime treatment called Tremidor. Never had them again.
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful vignettes and Lulu is adorable.
Enjoy your visitors. I'm sure they love their stay with you in your darling cottage.
xo
Carol, glad you got away even if it was a have to! Gas leaks are scary, glad you got it fixed right away! Have a wonderful week! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteVery scary to have a gas leak - sorry that happened to you. Glad you had a chance to get away while your house was being treated for termites. It's good to be back to "normal", isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLike that old saying: When it rains, it pours. Gotta love that Lulu!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Wow that tenting thing sounds like quite an experience. How long do you have to be out of the home for?
ReplyDeleteThose things come in splurts and then go away! I know because we just had a splurt! Hopefully it is all calm and normal for a good long time!
ReplyDeleteThey say it always comes in threes. Hope this is the last of it my friend! A gas leak is scary!! Enjoy your company. I know they will enjoy your lovely cottage!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Yes, life is full of surprises. I am glad you are home and back to normal. Your pictures, as always, are beautiful. Have a happy week Carol.

Life can sure pull some surprises on us. Glad all is back to normal and that you enjoyed a lovely getaway.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a more restful week!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I am so glad things are back to normal there. Poor Lulu. I bet she did like the trip though. It's can be those unexpected things that make us pull our hair. :) Everything looks so pretty there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWow! I mean you've had a crazy week! Love the vignettes, especially the one with the blue stool. Always love what you do.
ReplyDeleteWhew! That's too much upheaval for one week. Termites and gas leaks in one week is all too much. But, hey, maybe it's better to get things over with two at a time!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of tenting before! Doe it have to be done on a regular basis? Was it just a co-incidence that the gas leak happened at the same time? Glad Lulu and both of you enjoyed your break away. Sarah x
