I feel like I have been absent from the blog world for ages.
For 14 months, I worked on my 50th high school reunion and finally, last weekend, we met up in San Clemente.
One of my classmates lives in a gated community next to the spot where President Nixon had his Western White House.
We called it a "Grass Roots Reunion" because we did not hire a reunion company, but instead a large committee created a magical weekend.
One of our classmates collects vintage cars so he and his wife drove 2 of them to the reunion as part of the "decorations" - designing the 66 logos was one of my tasks.
Another classmates is a professional artist (if you live in the Omaha area, he owns and operates the Haunted House) and he did caricatures throughout the 3 days of the reunion- my co-chair and I posed for him at the Friday night party
on the deck of the home of another classmate.

I won't bore you with the hundreds of photos that are posted on our class Facebook page, but I wanted to show you this group photo.
That's me in the blue sweater standing behind 3 of our former teachers - the man on the left started teaching at our high school the year we were born!
This isn't the best shot of me, but it epitomizes the weekend - lots of laughter, a few tears and so many fun memories evoked.
We are back at home and I am busy with a few fall projects
and changing vignettes all around the house.
There are no more banners to make, emails to read or phone calls to make so I have time to move things around the house.
It's good to be back on track!

It looks like you had lots of fun times. San Clemente sure is beautiful, isn't it? Lots of work went into the reunion, but it sure looks like everything went off without a hitch.
ReplyDeleteAll of your vignette look great. Love the little mouse.
Have a great restful weekend.
Mary

Carol, your beautiful smile and laughter (and gorgeous blue sweater!) are bright and MAGNIFICENT! And, to see your former teachers there! WOW! I went to my 20th back in '96 but there were no teachers there. I would have loved to see them to say, "I'M SORRY FOR BEING SO MISCHIEVIOUS!"
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.
Glad you are back! And I am also glad your reunion was a wonderful experience ♥

Carol, that looks like so much fun! You had a big graduating class. It's great that so many people attended and that you all pooled your talents to make it wonderful. Bet you'll feel like you have so much free time now!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thoughts of Home. :)
Planning events is fun but it does take a lot of time, so it is nice when they are over and you have time to enjoy other things. It sounds like the reunion was a blast and it looks like you all had a great turnout! How wonderful that so many were able to attend. I'm sure lots of new memories were made. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Wow! Y'all had a GREAT TURNOUT!! Love the fun photos! You got some great ones! Looks like so much fun. You put alot of hard work into it, and I bet you enjoyed every second of it! You look fantastic in the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great turn out for a 50 year reunion . . . I love the shot of you laughing with your girlfriend. It's easy to tell that the two of you have been friends forever. Now most people would put their feet up after working on an event like that, but not our Carol. Your energy is astonishing . . . no moss growing under your feet, LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a fun time. I know you worked hard on this to make it special. Everyone looks wonderful in the class pic. So happy the week end was a success.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Carol,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing photos of your reunion - especially the ones of you smiling gleefully. Looks like a very successful reunion and you were an important part of achieving a fun weekend, working on the committee. Congratulations and welcome back to your nest that you have been fluffing and making so charming for Fall.
xoxo,
Vera
It looks like it was a fun and emotional weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are back on track! I am sure you are filled with new inspiration for your vignettes having been away from home. Glad you had a wonderful time! I am dying to see your white living room....I see a glimpse of it in one of the pictures!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your reunion was a success! I too am trying to get back on track in the blogging world. It's been the busiest year I think I've ever had but it's all good. Mostly good anyway. I always love seeing what you're up to Carol, and those fall vignettes are beautiful! I especially love the last photo of the ladder... That would look perfect in my home. Also, I've enjoyed your photos on IG too! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your 50th class reunion? Is that a mistake??? If not, you sure look quite youthful!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Looks like a wonderful reunion. Congratulations on a job well done! Looking forward to more of the regular posts soon.

Carol, it looks like the reunion was a huge success! Congrats on all your hard work! Happy weekend, Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteYour reunion sounds like a great time and a big success due to all the hard work and planning that you and the committee did. It will be nice to just be 'normal' again I'm sure. I know you will enjoy adding fall touches to your cottage home and we'll look forward to seeing them here. Enjoy the weekend. Pam
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, Carol, to see all your friends and in such a beautiful place. I can only imagine how much work you've put into it.

Carol, I`m so glad the school reunion went well and you enjoyed your time with old friends. Love this last pic with white decor on the ladder. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteDearest Carol! Thanks for coming by my blog! Yeah, I don't share much about my house because the perfectionist in me wants to wait until I get that yellowish kitchen painted white, my old living room repainted a fresh white, and hopefully trade in my HUGE green brocade couch for at least a white linen slipcover. But it is what it is, and we are happy. I didn't share the new addition in the back figuring many of you have already seen that, and it will be featured in the magazine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting dear friend! Anita
It looks like all your hard work paid off in a wonderful weekend adding to the memory bank your class already has! I'm a bit envious, my graduating class was around 1400 and I doubt there's ever been a reunion. Enjoy work around your house again!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an amazing weekend, Carol. You are a party planning pro! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like all of your hard work on your reunion paid off big time. What a fantastic party! And so well attended.
