Time For Tea

My lovely daughter-in-law, Aylin, read an article recently about great spots in Los Angeles to enjoy high tea.

The ladies of the family decided it would be a great Mother's Day celebration, but we had to wait until last Sunday for everyone's schedule to coordinate.

Aylin settled on The Peninsula in Beverly Hills.

I wanted to take a little something for everyone so I bought white teacups at the thrift shop.

To spice them up, I tied colorful ribbons onto the handles

and personalized them with names or initials.

My plan was to use flowers from my garden, but in case I didn't have enough, I bought two bouquets at Trader Joe's.

I have an whole new appreciation for florists

after arranging the bouquets over and over again to get them just right.

There were just 6 of us at tea - that's me in the white dress with my sister in the sunglasses.

We had such a lovely time, that we have already chosen our next spot for tea.

  3. That sounds like so much fun - great picture of all of you.

I have been to the one in Orange, CA Paris in a Tea Cup, which was very good and one in Los Gatos, many years ago.

They are kinda hard to find here and the waiting list is quite long.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend. We are having a mini block party.

  5. What a fun time. We haven't gone to tea in awhile but it is so much fun. Great minds think alike. I bought some cut glass punch bowl cups to make little flower arrangements or plant a flower in for gifts for the next girls get together. I love the way you decorated the handles with names and ribbons!

  12. What a lovely idea, the get together, the mixing of generations and the tea cup gifts. Now I have a longing for sticky toffee pudding. I may have to ask my Brit relatives for a care package.

  17. Carol, I love the new tradition you are starting with your family. The tea cups filled with flowers are a sweet gift. I've been doing the same on occasion to take a little gift to friends. A local store sells petit boquets but I've been making my own. ;-)
