A Most Uncreative Week

It has been a most uncreative week and I have only myself to blame.

This view, each time I walked in and out of the house is what kept me motivated today.

On Wednesday, after our company left, I randomly decided to switch our bedroom with the guest room.

I am still not finished, but this morning, I was determined to do something creative.

I bought this white fabric at Joann's a couple of weeks ago to make a tablecloth, but I had not gotten around to hemming the edges.

It took longer to iron the fabric than it did to hem the two ends.

By 10 a.m. the table was set for dinner and that little bit of creativity motivated me to finish up the bedroom switch.

Flowers, books, baskets, tchotchkes etc. ended up on the floor of the living room.

The entryway cabinet got a new pitcher and plate.

Ceramic letter balls ended up on the dining room side table.

My old classroom stool sits at one end of the sofa,

I wish I was finished with the switch, but Little Lulu, aka The Tasmanian Devil, demands a lot of attention.

I tell myself, there is always tomorrow.

  4. Beautiful tablecloth Carol and it looks lovely hosting all your dinnerware and cheery bouquet! I know I've said it before, but the little nook, nestled all cozily by the window with those green views, in your pretty dining room is one of the sweetest, most charming places I've ever seen in blog land! Ahhhhh...what a storybook scene; could easily be one of Steve's gorgeous paintings!

  5. NO matter what you do, it is always BEAUTIFUL! Carol, your dining area is so perfect with the sunshine coming in, with Steve's fantastic painting full of color, and the happy colors. I would love to sit around that table, hearing of your middle school experiences, your hopes and dreams, your sea shore life....

I WANT TO SEE PHOTOS of your bedroom switch! There's always tomorrow, however....enjoy your Sunday my dear! Anita

  8. You couldn't be uncreative if you tried. :)

I used that same fabric to make curtains for our girly room upstairs. Must confess that I didn't even hem the sides. I love it!

  13. That table cloth is pretty! As to ironing ...I think that it is time for a new fad! Yes, wrinkly tablecloths can be the latest fad to go with chippy furniture. No more ironing! What do you think! :) Happy Sunday...

  14. I love that table cloth and agree to the new fad!! You'll have those rooms switched around in no time, then you can come work on two of mine, lol.

  16. Good for you getting the table cloth hemmed. You don't have to get everything done in one day. Enjoy the dog, there is always tomorrow:)

  17. Carol-
I would consider switching two rooms as being creative, after all you are creating two new areas now... and all the other changes that you made are quite creative also. So, the week was not a loss after all. Love your table cloth and all the changes you have made - so cheery to come here. Can't wait to see what you do with those two areas you are creating. Have a wonderfully creative week....Cathy

  19. Oh good golly, since when is switching two rooms an un-creative week?? That means I have had consecutive un-creative DECADES. I am so far behind.....

  20. Oh goodness gracious Carol - I am exhausted just reading about what you call an "uncreative week".
You accomplish more in a week than most of us do in a month! Can't wait to see the bedroom switch - love the new white tablecloth.

I think little Lulu wants you to rest and play with her - she should get tired and things will be easier once you can run her on the beach.

    Have a lovely week,
    Blessings, Erin

  27. I would say you have been very creative this week. Making that beautiful tablecloth with your stunning dishes. Love Steve's pictures on the wall. Switching two bedrooms - that's being very creative. Can hardly wait to see the finished rooms.
I'm sure little Lulu wanted to help you decorate - they are like little two year old's.
Have a great week. Hugs to Lulu.....

  31. What a great choice for fabric used to make a tablecloth! And I love how you put it on the diagonal. I know what you mean about making switches. It does open up a can of worms and become a bigger project than we thought it would. I always call it the "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" scenario. Remember that children's book? A pat on the back for starting it and I know it will be charming when you're done!

  32. Your table is gorgeous lady!!! I am so loving the texture of that fabric for the table cloth! Your dishes on those red charges paired with the gold toned candles makes me think of fall...warm and cozy!!! I was laughing out loud when you called your sweet lulu the tasmanian devil! HA! You take care and good luck with the switch!!!

  34. Ha! You're never not creative! I'd say making that tablecloth and switching the two bedrooms is plenty of creativity. Are you going to post pictures of the "new" rooms?

  35. I just love your home Carol!!! The tablecloth looks so pretty and so is your lovely table setting too!

  36. There IS always tomorrow!
You'll get it all done and snap pictures and show the masses...how all that creativity played out; and while we're reading and ooh-ing and awe-ing ...you'll be wondering.
    ..."What's next?!"

    You're retired, remember!
I think the same way... wish I could hurry up and get "this or that done" ...but then I'd only be moving onto the next project I've lined out for myself! :)

  40. Carol,
Really like the material for the tablecloth, so pretty!
I need to switch out several rooms in our home but the thought of it all just exhaust me. So I keep saying to myself, There's always tomorrow" Not sure if tomorrow will ever get here though. lol

  41. Love your table cloth. You made the setting so nice with your accessories.

I am kind of enamored by the table cloths with little pom pom trim. Have you seen those about? I thought I mention it, not because you need another project, but because they look so whimsical like your decor.
