I've Got Your Number

I may not have your number, but I have numbers - all over the house.

I have always loved numbers -

perhaps it's the teacher in me.

I didn't realize how many numbers I have and how much they show up in my decorating until I decided to put numbers on the mantel yesterday.

One of my Pinterest boards is titled "i've got your number

and all of the items on the mantel were first pinned onto the number board and then purchased or made.

With the mantel finished, I went around the house snapping pictures of numbers ~

on the porch . . .

in the entry . . .

in the bedroom . . .

in my creative space . . .

and even the bathroom.

Earlier this month I realized that I have a "heart" problem

and clearly I have a number problem too.

  3. I don't see a problem....just a charming cottage full of things you love. Your numbers, hearts, and hands are such amazing collections and I never tire of looking at them. In fact, I shared your home with my sister recently because she loves color and whimsy and your home came to mind. She loved it! Have a blessed Monday.....Vicky

I tried to comment from there, but it wouldn't let me not sure why! I am enjoying your posts and love that you live at the beach - it's my favourite place to be!

  6. Wow! I love all your numbers! The patio with all the nautical stuff is fabulous!!!! I want, I want, I want. Do you have a shop?

  7. I know what you mean; since I was a child, numbers for me had "genders." I know, sounds totally BIZZARE!!!!!!

But for me, the digit "2" is feminine, while "3", "8" "11" are masculine. I have a linguistically hooked brain and think of numbers in terms of gender AND NUMBER of course, but that's the only purpose they served because later in life, I'd have a horrible time in math!

I love this post, Carol. Being a teacher sure helps us see life in all sorts of interesting dimensions! Happy day! Anita

  8. I like em! We have numbers on a few things in our house. The funny thing is that when guests come they always ask us if the numbers mean something. It seems to bother a couple of my friends. Oh well. :)

  11. I love the graphic appeal of numbers , and hearts are just plain cute. Throw letters in there for me... I guess it stems from a love affair with the written word, but I always want to buy them and numbers, also. Looking around here I see old signs... Lots and lots and lots of them!

Seeing all that wonderfulness in your house, I could definitely live there!

I love all your numbers and how they are displayed. I too have a thing with numbers. I collect number 9 because it always factors into important memories of John and I. But I also have a special liking for 5.
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful number displays.

  19. I don't know why, but I am so attracted to pieces with numbers. And I'm so glad you shared your display because I never know how to incorporate them. They add such a fun, eclectic element to the home and I especially like dishes with numbers. BTW--thank you for all your support Carol. It means a lot right now, crazy exciting, times for sure...but it helps to have friends like you!

  21. I was just talking to my husband about the love of #'s everywhere now - I really don't get it. If it's a date or address - something significant to me, I can see that.

Now hearts, birds, flowers...there are lots of other things I can get excited about!

  26. Anything printed with numbers or letters seems vintage and lovely to me. I have very few numbers in my house, but from where I'm sitting I can see one on an old pickle crock in my living room "3". Wendy x

  48. Hi Carol. Oh my, you have a lovely collection of numbers at your house. Sometimes I come across numbers at garage sales or flea markets and always feel like buying them. I love collecting special numbers, like my children's birthday numbers, or the number 13. That's my birthday date, but more to the point, nice things happen to me around the number 13. Do you find that? Like, a lucky number? Anyway, hope you have a lovely week ahead of you with loads of lucky numbers. :)
