Last weekend I planted flowers to spruce up the front yard
and after seeing the difference that the flowers made,
I decided flowers were just what I needed to liven up the house.
I made a Trader Joe's run this morning and then had fun arranging the flowers.
Trader Joe's was selling Cinnamon Brooms for just $3.99.
KC stopped by this evening to play with Lulu and she immediately asked what smelled so good.
A mixed bouquet provides color in the living room
and you can see from the open windows that we are still enjoying warm weather.
A mini rose bush found a home in an old butter cookie tin
and it will stay in place until I begin decorating for Christmas.
I went with a simple display for this week on the dining room table
until I come up with a Thanksgiving centerpiece.
The last few flowers ended up on the front porch.
inside my grandpa's old watering can - I don't think he would mind that I painted it yellow.
It doesn't take much - a few flowers and a little bit of time - to give me a sense of accomplishment.
so viele wunderschöne inspirationen!!! viele grüße von angie aus dem heute verregneten deutschland, aber wir haben die sonne im herzen!!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are all beautiful, glad you are feeling good again
ReplyDeleteI saw that broom at Trader Joes, it smelled amazing, I just may have to go back and get myself one, love the way yours looks.
have a great day

Flowers are calming for the soul. They make everything better. Now I need to find a place around here that sells cinnamon brooms.
ReplyDeleteOld metal tins and watering cans filled with flowers...what's better and prettier?
ReplyDeleteGood morning Carol!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to see your busy bee creations come back to the stage. Those bottles on your table with what looks like dried, slender hydrangea stalks is GORGEOUS. Those simple but sweet arrangements do give us a new look and sense of accomplishment.
I saw those cinnamon brooms at Trader Joes and I need one for my kitchen. This is such a fun time of year to fluff and fuss our cottages with love. I truly hope you are feeling back to yourself?
Big hugs to you and I can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!
Love the orange flowers in the yellow water can. You always pull a house together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty! They're nice to see this time of year when everything bright & colorful around here is pretty much gone.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see the sunshine and flowers when ours are waning (other than pansies). Your year-round climate is enviable. We had our first frost this past Monday, and even though temps warmed up to 70 y'day, I could see neighbors' flowers and vines shriveled (mine have already been cleaned out). Rain today, typical November. Love the cinnamon broom!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! It's amazing how much flowers can change things.
ReplyDeleteI can smell that cinnamon broom! Everything looks so gorgeous. Today everything is encased in ice here. UGH. Go away winter...

Those flowers make me happy! Love how bright and beautiful it all looks. I'm going to get a Thanksgiving table ready soon, right now it's covered with Halloween that needs putting away.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
It all looks so beautiful and I am glad you are feeling better and back to doing the things you love.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks lovely, as always, Carol, but the picture above the mantle is absolutely stunning. I think it's my favorite so far! Just gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous inside and out!
ReplyDeleteCarol, Hope you are so much better. I like the flowers in the yellow watering can so much. You know I love seeing your windows opened up . Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeletethe cinnamon brooms are always a nice addition.
ReplyDeleteI like yours on the fireplace... that little gadget holding it is an interesting piece of iron work, too.
Flowers are so pretty no matter what time of year... we've had rain all day yesterday, last nite and so far today... constant drizzle. I'm happy for it though. We NEED it.
take care and enjoy your weather and your flowers. ;)
Love the old watering can !
ReplyDeleteI have purchased those cinnamon brooms before...usually at JoAnn Fabrics. I love them ! :) I wish I had one right this instant now that you reminded me about them :)
Accomplishment, and a beautifully 'dressed' home!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job ~
A few flowers do make a difference. And your broom by the fireplace looks so nice, and how good to smell lovely too!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol! Your bouquets are lovely! I am of the opinion that one can never have too many flowers! Blessings, Cecilia
ReplyDeleteCarol, glad to see that your energy is returning. Flowers in the garden and through out your sweet cottage bring a touch of joy for certain. I've been planting winter annuals in our gardens and now we are getting wonderful soaking rain. Yipee!
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart!!! Look at all of those beauties! Loving the roses in the can! Such a stunning pair! And I need one of those brooms for the season....I will have to swing over to TJs!!! Your flowers put a smile on my face!! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteI really love coming and seeing the inside of you beautiful home. It looks so lovely dressed for fall. All the beautiful touches you put throughout.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about your anemia until I read back at the posts I've missed. I'm glad you are getting some energy back. I have only had iron deficiency anemia when pregnant but remember how miserable it was to feel like I had been run through a wringer. I have had pernicious anemia (B12 deficiency) and take B12 shots every three weeks. Such a pain but it feels good to feel good doesn't it? I hope you are able to get back to yourself Carol and start feeling much better.
sending hugs...
Glad to see you're back on track Carol and feeling better. Health issues can really throw us for a loop.
ReplyDeleteThe watering can and the bottles with hydrangeas are just lovely! That broom would have been hard to resist for me too at just $4. Trader Joes always has great deals, especially on flowers. I no longer have one nearby though, but when we visit our old stomping grounds once or twice a month I usually stop in.

Carol,
ReplyDeleteLove all your sprucing with flowers. Love that cinnamon broom from Trader Joes I am going to have to check mine out to see if they still have those here. I love the pine cones when they bring those out but never saw the broom. Glad you are feeling better and got some flowers planted. Looks so pretty. Ahhhhhh to have the windows open. So envious.
Kris
Seeing your beautiful flowers outdoors in all the sunshine when are weather is so cold and bleak always makes my heart ache for my flowers to come back and grace my own yard and porch and patio areas! And it's only November. *sigh* I saw - but smelled first - the cinnamon brooms at TJ's. I didn't buy one though because they make me sneeze!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, I love the way you decorated your house with flowers! They really brighten things up and making house look cheery!
ReplyDeleteFlowers always brighten a space and make it feel alive. All your arrangements look lovely, and I love the flowers in the wheelbarrow. So pretty! Have a blessed evening.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Vicky
How bright and pretty your flowers are. Seeing them is like a shot of sunshine and I sorely need that - days of grey and rain on top of the time change make me want to do very little.
ReplyDeleteCarol everything is beautiful. Flowers always add the perfect touch. Love that cinnamon broom.
ReplyDeleteHugs
The flowers look beautiful. I end up with a cinnamon broom or cinnamon pinecones every fall. They smell so good.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look so pretty. I love the smell of those cinnamon brooms!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have a sense of accomplishment but also flowers just make us smile and that is good medicine when we have been feeling a bit under the weather. I hope you are beginning to get your strength back and are finding more energy! Love all the flowers! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers And how you have them displayed...so pretty!! I love how a cinnamon broom smells.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Carol,
ReplyDeleteIsn't Trader Joe's the best for fresh flowers ... Going tomorrow and picking up a couple bouquets of beauty.
Open windows, lovely arrangements throughout your home, outside planted flowers adding to the cottages prettiness, yup Carol you are feeling better. So happy to see your creative touches and beautiful home in your wonderful photography.
xo,
Vera
You are so creative, Carol! I LoVe how you have arranged these flowers and how gorgeous they look in your home! The Jersey Cream cookies tin looks so fabulous with the red flowers....and a cinnamon broom sounds wonderful... I wish I could get one over here in the UK!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy November.
Helen xox
I love all the flowers. There is no way I could afford to buy that many but maybe one bouquet for the dining room table I can swing. I never thought of planting a mini rose inside. Do they do well indoors? I love Autumn in Florida too as the days are warm and the nights cool. The humidity is low as well and that always makes it nice to open the windows. Debbie
ReplyDeleteSo.pretty, love them on the chair and in the red can on the books. Neat in the old watering can
ReplyDeleteCindy
I do hope the fact that you're making your home all pretty means you're feeling better.
ReplyDelete:) So happy you're enjoying nice weather. Your flowers are lovely, both inside and out!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Flowers make such a difference inside and outside
ReplyDeleteHow you teasing me with being able to plant fresh flowers? Oh boy am I jealous! LOL, so glad you have great weather to enjoy! Love all you vignettes too! Flowers are like sun they both make you feel good!
ReplyDeleteYup, flowers will do the trick every time! My friend, Ann and I have a trip to Trader Joes planned in the near future. Love your arrangements Carol and the watering can is priceless! Oh to have opened doors! Can't complain though, we are having ten degree warmer than usual weather. Feels more like Spring.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Carol, the flowers are lovely and really add to your decor. Sounds like you are feeling better. Yes, we are so fortunate to have such great weather this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteMy roses are growing like crazy and my paper whites are in bloom.
Everything looks terrific at your home.
enjoy the warm weekend.
Mary
Your flowers look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to plant some paper whites. Your home is gorgeous.
Kathy
nothing says it like flowers (or was that hallmark?) either way, you can't go wrong with flowers! and yours are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh how I miss my flowers. They are now gone until next spring. Fall has finally arrived and has put all the pretty flowers to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see that you are enjoying your pretty flowers. Thank you for bringing me a bit of sunshine.
Janet
Beautiful pictures and I LOVE your grandpa's watering can.
ReplyDeleteWhere is your beach house, Carol? I'd love a tour!
Your flowers are beautiful and I love the containers you used. The rose bush in the red can could carry you through Christmas. I can't believe you're still planting flowers in your garden!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I love Trader Joe's and I LOVE your blog!!! I am your newest follower!!
ReplyDeleteJust love your home. I am looking forward to seeing how you decorate for the holidays. So glad you are feeling better. Did they find the cause. I know the friend I told you about that was so exhausted just reminded me of how you said you felt. We have those brooms at our grocery. When I got out of my car I could smell them clear across the parking lot. Your flowers look so nice. Most of ours are gone now.....or the deer have eaten them. I have one flower box still hanging on. I have always wanted one of those elfs
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Keep feeling better.
Oops, elves.
ReplyDeleteYou have created so many inspirational settings, with repurposed items..Love your creativity.. It's like a whole new awakening for each and every corner of your house... Love It ..Thanks for sharing...hugs
ReplyDeleteI just found you on someone else's blog where you mentioned that you always check out blogs that mention "cottage" in the title - so do I! I love your decorating. I, too, have a passion for the sea having spent most of my life on Long Island. I traded in the sea for the mountains.
ReplyDeleteThankyou for visiting me earlier :) I think I've visited you before, I recognize your dining room! I love the broom in your wall, we have a similar broom although no a cinnamon one, I bet that smells divine :)
ReplyDeleteI will visit again, and I'll add you to my blog list when I next dig the laptop out!
Jillxo
Isn't it funny, I haven't bought fresh flowers is such a long time, but last week Safeway had them on sale and I couldn't resist. There is nothing like flowers in the house to bring a little sunshine into the room and your(MY) mood.
ReplyDeleteI just posted a tutorial on covering a lamp shade . . . I can't remember for sure, but I think you were one of my sister blogger that was interested. Check it out. My friend and neighbor showed me how and we took photos and put a post together.
I do hope that you are feeling better and stronger :)
Connie xx
P.S. I love that butter cookie tin:)
Love your flowers and your containers and I think I am going to paint my water cans too. I am getting the painting itch again. I can't stay away from slapping some color on something after awhile.
ReplyDeleteAnd you fluff so well. The flowers are pretty
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the fireplace.
