Have you ever brought something home with plans for a project - and never gotten around to the project?
Steve and I found this piece of driftwood on the beach a couple of years ago and forgot about it until Saturday when I was cleaning up the side of the house.
I knew I wanted to use the wood for a sign, but could not decide if I wanted horizontal or vertical and I also couldn't decide what I wanted the sign to say.
I know it doesn't show much imagination, but I went with the single word - B E A C H.
My intention was to create stencils, but with my first snip, I made a mistake so I had to trace the letters on and then paint them.
I'm a color girl so I used a different color for each letter.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint dries so quickly, that my sign was ready to be hung in just an hour.
I love the way the sign turned out,
but, I have no idea where to put the sign.
The sign is sitting on the fire pit bench temporarily, but hopefully it will have a home soon.
I was feeling pretty productive by this point so I grabbed these starfish I bought last week
to make a wreath I pinned 2 months ago from Coastal Cottage Dreams.
It took me longer to go up to the attic to find the grapevine wreath than it did to glue on the starfish.
I hung the wreath on our side gate, but like the B E A C H sign, the wreath will probably get a new home.
I was so proud of myself for finally "getting it done" with the sign and the wreath, that I went to my Pinterest To Do board and chose 3 projects.

My biggest challenge will be to find some driftwood for the boats, but my goal is to get these projects done by Friday.

ReplyDeleteGood morning dear Carol...your sign is PERFECT for your garden, a garden that leads to the ocean. How romantic and perfect is that! Simple, authentic, to the point, so ART AND SAND. And that wreath...stunning. My little writer's studio will have a beach theme this summer. I need to make a Pinterest Board for things I REALLY want to do and then make myself do some! AFTER I return home in June! Right now I'm home for two weeks for some R&R and some business I must take care of. Then back to TX the end of the month. Sigh....so many things I want to do....so little time.

I love it and the different colors you chose. I wish I could find a few good pieces of driftwood. I'm so guilty of buying and stashing, so I know how good it feels to finally finish a project.

Your wreath is perfect understated beauty. I too have lots of starfish (white pencil) in our house for the season.

Carol, I love the sign and it is just the perfect shape and colors for your beach cottage! My first thought was that it would look kind of cute hanging from a rope down from the middle of the surf board. I'm sure wherever ends up it will be fabulous! I pinned those driftwood boats too. Thought they were so cute for Americana décor. Doubt I'll find driftwood, but maybe a rustic piece of wood in a stream or something. I know you'll have yours whipped up in no time!

That turned out great, Carol! I love that you used different colors for each letter. It is "you", too! I am sure you will find the perfect place to put it. Good for you for picking projects to work on. I was doing that for awhile and need to do it again. I see so many on Pinterest I'd like to do and they are just getting buried on my boards.
