A few weeks ago, Steve and I went to an old friend's house for a birthday party.
I immediately noticed the mailbox and took out my phone to snap a picture and then I looked into the yard . . .
the line from Jerry Maguire, "you had me at hello" came to mind, but my thought was, "Lisa had me at that old truck door".
This week Lisa was so sweet and allowed me to photograph her lovely home for my blog - 540 photos to be exact.
It was a gorgeous sunny day in Southern California and Lisa's 1960's ranch style house made a wonderful backdrop for her vintage truck.
I am not the only person to fall in love with Lisa's home and style.
Fifi O'Neill featured the home
in her book, Romantic Prairie Style, on pages 124-131.
When you step onto the porch you might be tempted to sit awhile,
but then your eye catches a fun old cabinet filled with birdhouses.
I love that container filled with succulents and the collection of floral frogs.

As you walk through the house, you will notice an abundance of fun signs.
But, you won't be getting in the house today.
As you see from the sign on the door,
nobody gets in to see the Wizard.
The end of today's tour has nothing to do with the Wizard of Oz.
All those 540 pictures will take time to edit and I need to finish blog posts for Where Bloggers Create and the Mad Tea Party.
I leave you with the view looking out the master bedroom window and hope you will come back to see the inside of the house early in the week.

ReplyDeleteGood Evening Carol, If Lisa's garden is anything to go by, then we are in for a treat when you share her home. The garden is beautiful and the lawn is so neatly mown. I really could just sit for a little while and take the garden in....I love it.

Omg does she have style. I have to get that book.
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteAll looks enchanting! I look forward to future posts on this ranch house.
XO,
Vera
Oh, Carol,
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you on the style of her home, I so wish I lived close enough to take in all the beauty up close. I fell in love with her painted distressed floors when I opened Fifi's book. It all took my breath away.
Her mail box is just like a friend of mine. Funny how a mail box can set the tones how excited we are to see I side.
Thank you for this July post, I am going to go get my book and have a much closer look it's been awile.
I am excited to get fifi's new Prairie Style Weddings where my art ( Love) sign is on the cover and my art pieces stage, along with my daughter is one of her model brides at Renee and Gordon's home in Santa Barabra CA.
It's so exciting that you are able to see your friends home up close and so personally, I so know this feeling.
Beautiful July to you.
Xx

I need one of those truck doors! Of course they will be back for the rest. Good luck with your other posts! I can't resist saying this - don't you wish someone would reverse that quote "shoot for the moon - if you miss at least you'll land on a star" don't they know the stars are like crazy far away compared to the moon?
ReplyDeleteI've got the book (in fact I e-mailed Fifi O'Neill the day I first saw it and she very sweetly replied) so I had to go check out the interior because the exterior is so pretty, and yes it's gorgeous inside too.
