I shopped . . . I created . . . fun was had by all . . . and I wasn't there.
I was so excited when my daughter KC told me she was co-hosting a baby shower for her college and post-college roommate.
I begged to be able to help with the baby shower.
I hit the thrift stores and found 2 sweet demitasse cups, 5 little plates and a teapot for a total of $3.95.
My best find was 6 teacups and 6 saucers - all for $1.95 - I really debated on going back for a full dozen of each because the shop must have had 50 of these teacups and saucers.
I already had the yellow polka dot teapot and I found the blue teapot at Paris in a Cup when I was shopping in Orange with my blog friend Patty of Patty's Pretty Things.
Jen, the co-host lives in NYC, KC has been traveling and not in town much so I made a few samples and took photos to get their approval and the go-ahead for decorations.
I got busy making all sorts of fun stuff -
square boxes filled with teabags,
milk carton shaped boxes filled with Jelly Bellys,
Drink This tags for the mason jars,
Eat One tags for the cupcakes,
and a direction pole just for fun.
and a direction pole just for fun.
Last week KC drove off to San Francisco with a car full of decorations and supplies, but with my high school reunion, I wasn't able to be at the shower.
It was a perfect day in Mill Valley and the home of the "grandparents to be" was a perfect setting for a garden party.
Salads and sandwiches from Blue Barn are my favorites - oh, how I wish I could have been there.
The beverage table was festive with pink champagne and pink lemonade.
A "sweet tooth's dream" awaited the guests inside . . .
pink candy . . . pink macaroons . . . pink cookies . . . pink cake.
Instead of cupcakes, the girls went with a beautiful cake and cookies from Susie Cakes.
A fun time was had by all - except me, but I was having fun with my high school friends the entire time the shower was going on.
I end my post with a funny story.
When I was putting away all the supplies after the party, I called KC and asked her why there were so many decks of pink cards.
It turns out that when we ordered pink flamingos and 3 decks of pink cards from Oriental Trading Company, the cards actually came by the dozen.
With 3 dozen decks of pink cards, 24 clear mason jars and an accumulation of teacups, I think I might need to throw a little party myself soon.

It looks like a dream of an afternoon. Your ideas all came together beautifully - lovely memories for the two mothers-to-be.
ReplyDeletemy question is ... what will you do with all the extra items? do you have a plan? or will that be in the works?

ReplyDeletetessa~
You really pulled pink together well. It's not an easy thing to do, really. It's so easy to overwhelm a party with pink but your decor is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe decorations and the shower pics are wonderful! It's just too bad that both events were on the same day...having worked hard for both! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you did a beautiful job at both events. Your daughter did a great job taking photos of the shower for you to see how it all came together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
xx oo
Not only are you creative, artistic and imaginative, but you are resourceful too! You would have made an excellent stylist! Everything looks beautiful, from the decorations, tea settings and treats, to the venue and the sunny weather. Very pretty in pastels.
ReplyDeletePoppy
I sure could have had fun on that dessert table! your decorations are so fun. Is that babies name really Cliffy?
ReplyDeleteI am so behind on commenting lately. Upon arrival, ooo tea cups, I love tea cups. Anyway, I felt like I went to the shower too with your narration. The directional tags were brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely shower Great thrifting. Too funny about the cards! Angels to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and festive baby shower. All the decor you made was unique and pne of a kind and I know the mother to be loved it! It was all prefect for a garden party too. That food looks divine...Blue Barn sounds like a great place to eat. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Vicky
It's too bad you couldn't figure out a way to clone yourself. Wow, it all looks so festive and I'm sure everyone had a wonderful time. Funny about the pink cards.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful baby shower! Too bad you couldn't be there. You'd be great at doing party planning and set up - I'd hire you in a heartbeat! :-)
ReplyDeleteEverything came out really nice. I am sure the mommy to be had a really nice time.
ReplyDeleteIt looked beautiful Carol! I love everything you guys did. What a lovely spread. At least you get to enjoy the shower through the great photos your daughter took :)
ReplyDeletesending hugs...
If you aren't the party person extraordinaire! I need lessons! You're amazing. How do make all those cute tags and boxes? Do you have one of those machines? No wonder your house looks so cute....you are just brimming with creativity. Just darling! How sweet of you to do all that too.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Maybe a pink poker party! Everything looked great! All those cute little details. Great job. Mimi
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty ideas! Such a shame you weren't there...But I bet you'll tell us all of the fun you had at your party!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,

Carolyn
Everything looked fabulous! You have such neat ideas and it turned out so nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty shower - lol about the decks of cards !
ReplyDeleteThe sweet table looked a little addictive to me !!!
Wow! I'm so impressed with how pretty and creative everything was. I love all the pink! The cake was adorable. I'm guessing that she's having a girl. They should've just given those playing cards as party favors when the guests left.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! What an adorable shower! I love all of the details... I do think that you should have another party for yourself... it was too cute not to have a redo! :)
ReplyDeleteAll your work is so cute! I love the post with the three sings; it's humorous and so, is the story of how many packs of card you have. What a find on the teacups. My daughter has often wondered what the flamingos looked like from Oriental Trading; they are a good size.
ReplyDeleteThis baby shower is so fantastic I don't even know where to start! My goodness! Just look at the dessert table...it looks like heaven! And how absolutely amazing is your work! I just love those signs and the boxes! You did such a great job and how neat to be able to take pictures and send them to the girls to show them your ideas! And how about your scores at the thrift store! This is just good stuff! Wishing them all sweet joy with this new soul! And a wonderful week to you friend...I am a bit behind as we had a very busy weekend! Happy week to you! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love all your little touches Carol! What a lovely party...I can see why you wanted to decorate for it. All that pink, how fun! The tags on the mason jar and the signs on the poles were perfect. And I'm like you, I'm so attracted to vintage cups and saucers, I really like what you did with them too. Now I have to find out how your class reunion went. I bet you have some fun stories about that :)
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed. As random as your pics might be, some of them were really wonderful to look at.
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, you did such a beautiful job with the decoration. Everything looked just perfect and I wanted to climb right in to that goody table!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I have the same mason jars with the lids and they are so cute - except I only have a pair! It looks like you had some wonderful creations for the party. It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! Your decorations and tea cups and saucers are all so sweet. What a lovely addition to the shower. I am sure it was appreciated by mom to be and the two planners. I am sorry you couldn't be there but you were so well represented!!! And now you have several dozen card decks to alter.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable gathering with such great yummies and pretties. Oh soooo cute! Love it. Thanks for the ideas. I will certainly use them.
ReplyDeleteWow so impressive. And you did a baby shower and your HS reunion. I do good getting on activity decorated or prepped.
ReplyDeleteYou're good.
