It was over 90 degrees at the beach today, so we did the smartest thing to escape the heat - grabbed our kayaks and hit the water.
Steve told me to grab the underwater camera, (we learned the hard way why we need an underwater camera while kayaking) but I had no idea what I would photograph today.
My posts, Winter Blues, What's In a Name, and Sunlight on the Sea all focused on sights we see while kayaking.
The minute I hit the water, I knew exactly what I would focus on while paddling.
As my boat drifted along through sparkling green water, my eyes were delighted with every color of the rainbow.
Brightly colored kayaks sat idly on docks waiting to be dropped into the water.
Although most of the boats are white, there are a few boat owners who share my love of color.
The landscape was dotted with colorful houses, but
as much as I love color, this tan house with a trio of dormer windows and a wrap around porch really strikes my fancy.
It was wonderful to spend the day in the cool water, surrounded by color
and to spend my evening in this beautiful garden, but that is for another post.

Such a colorful life you live! You truly did see all the colors of the rainbow and more! The kayaks are such vibrant colors. I am anxious to see and hear about the Secret Garden! Have a great day.

ReplyDeleteThank you for taking me where I love to be: near the water. The colors you share are striking, and again, you and Steve really took me back home last summer when you shared his art work. I will never forget that post, and this post is also evoking a feeling of being back home. Oh Carol, you live a FULL LIFE!

Fabulous colors! Our coastline homes are mostly tan or white, grey or, occasionally, pale blue! I like your view better! ;) My husband built a kayak and it is just gorgeous. Your post reminds me that we do not use it near enough!

Thank you for sharing! I am $$ saving for a kayak. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe love to canoe, but I would not mind a kayak as well. A little easier for me to go out alone.
LOVE your colorful post!
I never knew kayaks, boats could have so many great colors. It looked like a beautiful day, but to be honest, at 90 degress I'd be sitting in the house watching! So not a hot weather gal. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
ReplyDeleteOh your killing me with that secret garden! I can not wait to see it!!!!!!! As I know that you Californians know how to create some amazing gardens!!! You have such an eye for color! I can not get over the fact that you can just jump in your kayak and hit the water! Really such an amazing way to live! Wishing you an outstanding week friend! Nicole oxox

ReplyDeleteI love the collages you made. It makes all the different colours more stricking!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post :)
I have never kayaked, but have always wanted to give it a try. The only problem that I worry about, is at my age, after sitting for that long, would I be able to get out of it without help? Sounds funny, but sometimes I have trouble getting out of my chair at night.
I love your posts and I'm looking forward to your secret garden post :)
Your blogging sis,
Connie :)
All such lovely photos. We are back down to 50 here. I have no idea how you do 90, that's about 20 degrees above bearable to me.
ReplyDeleteI had 90 degrees here in Western PA yesterday and was ready to melt! :) It felt more like the end of July than May.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty post with so much variety and color! :) I wish we ALL had wrap around porches, don't you? Love them...
Your blog is always a feast for the eyes. I love to visit!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love all the color, too. I've discovered that the older I get, the more I love color, too. Fantastic post!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos Carol--such a lovely day out in your kayak. I've not put mine in water yet this year--soon though! Thanks for stopping by to visit me :)

We've had some beautiful days here too recently, though nothing is as colourful, and it definitely isn't as warm.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing another day on the water.
