When Lulu first arrived, I created a basket full of supplies so I could do something with my hands when I was keeping an eye on her constantly.
She no longer requires constant supervision, but I still have the basket handy to pick up late at night.

I sewed felt "fall" shapes, stuffed them and strung them on thin cord.
The shapes alone didn't make a very exciting banner so wrote the letters for fall on colored wooden tags using a black chalk pen.
The front porch bench seemed like a good place for the little banner.
Flowers in fall colors were recruited from the back yard for the vignette along with a wooden pumpkin and a cross stitch pillow I must have made 20 years ago.
By the time the bench was decorated, I was on a roll.
I found an old grapevine wreath hanging in the garage and created a WELCOME sign for the front door.
A table runner made from the remnants of my old window seat fabric (I still love the fabric) adds color to the dining room table.
My garden has limited flowers in bloom right now so dried flowers in fall colors from Jo-Ann's fill a metal pitcher

Now the house is looking "fallish", but the garden is craving my attention.
My house definitely follows the old proverb, "a woman's work is never done".

The banner and wreath are so cute. It makes your house look ready for fall. I put my fall decorations out in September. I got the Halloween decorations out yesterday but have to put them out. I have collected things gradually over the years. I got a cute metal sunflower at Joanns the other day that I put on the porch. I love the metal decorations and things you can stick in planters.

ReplyDeleteYour front entry looks so very fallish - love the colors. I am like you - love colors. That pillow you made still looks so good. I was out today to TJ Max and couldn't find one single pillow for fall or Halloween. Love the stuffed felt shapes. How's Little Lulu, guess she is getting bigger.

Good morning dearest Carol!
ReplyDeleteI can literally feel the ocean breeze as I look at your patio décor, and I know you must be enjoying every moment of your artistic journey. I'm loving my middle school assignment as well as the high school, but I'm already looking forward to vacation!
Sending you fond greetings from Minnesota. Anita
Carol,
ReplyDeleteYou were on a roll. I love it all!

You've been busy, inside and out it sounds. I like your fall mantle and the door decoration and all the others that are so cheery and look like you put some work into them! Now to the garden?!
ReplyDeleteYour fall entrance is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteYou sure know how to decorate with lots of color, everything looks wonderful and festive. Your little banner is just too cute!
What is it--"a man may work from sun to sun but..." --how very true! At least your work here, slipped in among other tasks, is fun and creative and rewards you every time you go in and out the door. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour front porch looks so inviting, I bet your neighbours love visiting to see what you've been up to. The banner with the padded shapes is just adorable, that would work really well for Christmas too.
ReplyDeleteCarol, the banner is so cute and it really looks at home on the bench. But, I am crushing on that Welcome banner on your wreath - I love it... As always your use of color is so cheerful - I always leave your blog smiling... thanks for sharing as you do... Cathy
ReplyDeleteStill having lots of fun, I see! It's been ages since I was crafty. Your dining room is so welcoming with those big windows and that wonderful painting. I've been away from the computer and out in the air more too. Our annual balloon fiesta is starting. But I would love a day at the beach!
ReplyDeleteYour front porch looks great!! I love the Fall banner that you made...so cute!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Good morning dearest Carol!
ReplyDeleteIt is a joy every time I see your comment at my blog. AND IT IS A JOY to see the wonderful blog post your young neighbor wrote about her "relationship" with English! CLEVER, SO, SO CLEVER! I am tempted to ask her if I may share her piece with my students. When you acquire a new language, especially while in the context of the culture and people, the language takes on a new persona, and her writing gives one the sense that beyond the classroom and grammar lessons (my passion!), that an entire awaits a student of world languages that only human contact can ignite.
Thank you sweet friend for coming by. Anita
Too pretty Carol - and that little table with the window right there ???
ReplyDeleteI SO want that - I can just imagine sitting there in the morning!!!
