A Little Something

Recently I received an e-mail from Kris at Junk Cottage Chic saying I would be receiving a package containing "a little something" soon.

The end of the school year is always was crazy crazy crazy with no time to myself and I literally stored her e-mail in the back of my crowded brain.

Last Friday, I got home from work and saw a BIG box on the table.

I remembered Kris was sending "a little something",  but the box was so big.

I guess a midwest "little something" is different than a west coast "little something."

We were rushing out to an art show (that turned out to be a surprise retirement party) so I set it aside until later that night.

When we got home, I excitedly opened the box and found . . .

There is only one thing wrong with being friends with Kris.

According to google, she lives 2,082 miles from my house.

It would take 1 day and 6 hours to reach Kris's house.

Probably a little far to just pop in for a visit.

I will continue to pop in at Junk Chick Cottage to visit the sweet lady who made my weekend.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'll be partying at

  4. Carol,
You are so sweet to do a post on my "little something" I sent you. I know for many years you made a difference in so many students lives so you deserve more than this little something! Teachers are my heros and you certainly are not paid enough for your dedication and knowledge and love you give each day of your career as being a teacher. The time and knowledge you give to children to guarantee a future for all of us is priceless. You deserve more than this "little something" but was so happy to put this together for you. I am so happy you love it. You are one of the sweetest bloggers out there and I am so happy to have become friends with you in blog world. Happy retirement my friend.
    Kris

  5. Congratulations on your retirement! Our retirement has taken us some getting used to! I see you live on the west coast. I was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, went to college in Santa Barbara, and lived in Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande. When we retired we moved to Utah to be closer to our kids and our grandkids. Surely do miss the ocean and the milder weather. Mimi

  6. What an awesome, thoughtful gift from Kris! Aren't blogger friends wonderful? I happen to live near Kris (a hop and a skip, really - about 20 min.), so I could pop in for a visit. :-) Although, a road trip to California sounds really good, too.

  7. I've been looking at some of your archives. You have an adorable blog! I'm your newest follower. You have an adorable little beach cottage! It just so happens that my husband grew up in Pierpont. He lived on Dover Ln. He had a great childhood living on the beach! Kind of a small blogging world, don't you think? Mimi
