As I am cleaning out one of my craft cupboards I am moving everything into my new garage work space.
I found another caddy- like I need another one.
It's amazing what I am finding in my quest to be organized.
I remembered the number box I saw at American Home & Garden.
Yesterday I painted the caddy with Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
While waiting for the paint to dry, I checked the picture on my blog post, Seeing Green, and realized I should have painted a rectangle on the caddy.
.
In my organizing, I remembered seeing a rectangular piece of metal.
Instead, I found a bunch of magnetic letters and like that, the plan changed.
I decided to leave the metal unpainted and use magnetic letters to change the words whenever I want.
I tried out different things in the box and used a variety of words.
But, I still wanted to paint a box with numbers.
Of the caddies I painted last week, only one had been left plain.
I grabbed the caddy on the front porch and added our address.
It isn't quite the same as the American Home & Garden caddy, but it will do.
I got my number caddy - Steve actually noticed it on the porch.
And, I also have a fun caddy that can change with my mood, or the season, or the holiday . . .
I'm pretty sure I don't have any more caddies to paint.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I love caddies too! These are just gorgeous. Brilliant idea with the magnets!

You can NEVER have too many tool caddies. They are just too useful. Love the magnetic letter idea. I also turn mine on their sides to stack to hold craft supplies. I use the handles for ribbons and twine.
ReplyDeleteNo such thing as too many caddies! I love how you added the strip of metal so you can use magnetic numbers or letters. So clever!
ReplyDeleteThey look great - I don't have any so I am on the hunt for a couple of caddies. Thanks for sharing this post. Love It!.
ReplyDeleteMary
They are all just so cute. Love the magnetic strip. Can't wait to see your new space.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea ( the magnetic strip ) although I love ALL of them - they're very hard to find here in Montreal !!!

Really cute--I love using things like this for planters!
ReplyDeleteHow cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the metal detail and the magnetic numbers and letters.
I just thought of something... you could use a stencil and cut magnetic letters or numbers out of those ad magnets you get on you phone book or in the junk mail. Just cut them out and spell stuff with them!
Free letters...:)
love this one, Pat
Carol
ReplyDeleteThese are too cute.

ReplyDeleteLeslie (Gwen Moss)
Oh, yes! An other beautiful caddy. The magnetic letters are such a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteThe caddy looks really cute, and I adore the little violas (or maybe they are pansies?) I'm still looking for a tote, but may have to have Mr. Handyman make me one!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! All your versions are just darling!
ReplyDeleteI love the magnetic letters which you can change when you like. This project seems to define serendipity!
ReplyDeleteCarol, this is the BEST project I've seen in ages!! My mind is buzzing with ideas inspired by it. You're a genius! (And I don't think you can ever have too many pretty boxes, especially with all the ways you change them up!)
ReplyDeleteThe result of your creative job is just great !
ReplyDeleteHi lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteI love your caddies filled with pansies how sweet.
XXOO Diane
Your caddie looks so lovely with those beautifully coloured pansies. I saw some items in a shop the other day with numbers painted on them and I thought of you and how much nicer your pieces were.

Aren't you clever! I love the caddy with the magnetic board on the front. So fun!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Your darling cottage reminds me of those in Brittany, a most lovely corner of France. Thank you for brightening up the world with your art and inspiration from the sea and sand. Your comment was much appreciated today. Anita
ReplyDeleteVery cute project! Now I feel like I don't have enough caddies :)
ReplyDeleteLove them all but the magnet one is such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLiz
The magnets are a great idea! I have an old drawer that I am going to paint Scandinavian Blue (more of a purplish periwinkle - say that fast three times!). I plan to put pansies and violas in it and mount it on the corner of the fence, somehow!
ReplyDeletegreat ideas with your caddies! i have one waiting to be renovated.
ReplyDeletei received my pillow today. it's really cute, i'd like to do something similar with stripes on fabric.

Love all the caddie creations. I need some of your creativity. On my front porch I have a a book shelf. It has a medium size lizard and an armadillo painted like a Texas flag and that's it. My Shelves are empty and the front porch is blah. Unless you count the 1000 June Bugs. LOL
