#6 has been eluding me because I developed bursitis and the doctor ordered me to take it easy.
What exactly does "taking it easy" mean?
I knew it meant no gardening.
My body agreed with the doctor and refused to let me garden.
But, Victor came to the rescue.
Victor is our neighbor's gardener and he agreed to come to our house yesterday.
He worked for HOURS tackling the jungle.
He trimmed the ivy and hibiscus, weeded and cleaned up the cobblestones.
I am embarrassed to show the before picture of this section of the garden.
In my defense, I teach middle school and coach volleyball so I don't get home until after dark from October through March.
I had a few plants on hand, but there won't be anymore planting until next weekend.
I wanted some color in the garden so this morning I grabbed the WELCOME sign that has been calling out for a makeover and painted it.
I love Annie Sloan Chalk Paint because the whole sign took only a couple of hours to paint, stencil, distress and put in the garden.

Your garden is looking great! I've begun weeding the fruit bushes I have, but when you live in a place where it rains a lot like I do, I takes several days as weeds love rain! I do hope you'll feel better soon. I've suscribed by email, because I've noticed I missed too many posts as I don't always check the blogger dashboard!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden! I wish Victor worked in TN! The cobblestones/large stepping stones are really nice. And what is that tree where the bark is so green and cupped in the middle. Is that a water dish for the birds in it? I hope your bursitis calms down. Been there. Know how it hurts. But you will enjoy your weekends and evenings in the garden so much. Maybe coffee out there early while it's cool too?

The garden looks wonderful! It got up to the low 40's today, and Charles split a whole bunch of wood. Neighbors were working in their yards. I concentrated on the house - it felt good to put away some clutter!

It has finally warmed up a little here and the ground is hardening enough not to sink into the mud so I plan to get outside and begin tackling some of the weeds before they have a chance to grab hold.

ReplyDeleteYour outdoor garden area is so pretty! I love seeing the different plants that grow in your area. The bright colored sign and chairs are a fun accent outside. They compliment your home and garden nicely. Glad to hear that you're taking doctors orders to heart. It will take some time, but will get better. In fact, if you already got a cortizone shot, it should already be better! I've never gotten one before because I'm too chicken and because I get flare-ups often, I have a lot of experience on what to do on my own to make it better. I think the first time you get bursitis is the worst! It seems subsequent flare-ups aren't as severe (at least for me).
