By ball, if you read the title of my post, I'm referring to Christmas - I always have difficulty coming up with decor ideas after the colorful and creative chaos of Christmas.
The first room I tackled was the guest room mainly because Steve bought me one of the items I put on my Christmas list.
I spotted the Cabin Crafts chenille bedspread at a local vintage shop, Tattered Door.
Steve hates shopping, but he doesn't mind when I give him the names of the shops and pics of exactly what I want.
The cabinet got an update with clocks and hands.
I had Steve bring in a new painting for above the headboard - we have lived in our city for over 40 years, but had never seen this view until recently when a neighborhood family invited us to a children's service at the Mormon church.
My old Underwood got a new message for a new year, but I'm not ready to share the word yet - still preparing the post.
I always dry my roses and had quite a few in a box I wanted to use for something else.
So I grabbed an old grapevine wreath from the garage and started hot gluing dried roses onto it - the eucalyptus was added at the end to give the wreath a little flair.
I always like popping quotes into my decor and this one really fits my life right now.
I used the cart as a workspace while I made the wreath so I decided to go for a desk look on the cart.
It is so nice to see the rooms of our house slowly coming to life once again in the new year.

I think it is hard to do something after the holidays. Of course I still don't have it down, but my spouse took down the outside the lights today, so I need to get on the move. The chenille spread really goes with the painting! Sounds like my spouse in that he can shop if provided directions and a list. I really like the wreath, but I think I said that at IG. ReplyDeleteGood morning dearest Carol! Yeah, January is a tough month to decorate, after all the glitz, glamour, magic, color or serenity of Christmas. I took down all my décor and resigned myself to the fact that January is a SLOW MONTH of recovery. Things are quiet. I find that Instagram and blogging is quiet. Maybe people are rethinking their lives, but I'm on that train too. I'm trying to maintain January with fresh flowers from our beloved Trader Joe's, and dreaming of spring. Needless to say, your home looks ready for some spring and summer fun!

ReplyDeleteLove your dried Roses from rom your garden. You have quite the collection. I feel the same when changing things up after Christmas. The time from then to spring can throw me off. I also don't want to have to move things around for spring just months from now. I suppose it's laziness too. After Christmas being so busy I'm somewhat brain dead

Carol, your home is amazing and forever changing . . . You would be a great person for a furniture store to hire. You would bring the room set-ups to a new level and probably double their profits. Every time I visit I get ideas, but I don't have the energy that you have for changing things up. Or the imagination, that's why I love coming here and being inspired. Love the bedspread. Chenille is so soft and pretty and your spread is gorgeous. I have found that if I want my Steve to actually buy me something that I really like, I better draw him a map, too LOL.

Carol, you are incredibly talented. I love the way you styled the bookshelves in the guest room. Perfect way to use your hands. I need to get more creative! The cart as a desk....very cute! The wreath....I just toss my dead roses, but I see I should be saving them in a box. This is stunning!
