Simple Changes

Welcome to the Transitioning from Summer to Fall Home Tours

organized by Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home.

If you are visiting from Panoply, doesn't Rita style her vintage collections beautifully!

Summer actually lasts way into October in my neck of the woods

and days like this are common even in November.

The easiest way for me to transition from summer to fall is with flowers.

I have noticed seasonal changes happening at the flower stands - oranges and yellows are taking over.

With my basic color palette of blue and white, adding fall flowers is really about all I need to change things up.

Lantana from the garden changes from summer to fall simply by using an old metal container instead of a vase.

A quick flip on the old red chair turns a summer garden

into a fall garden.

The eucalyptus leaves on this wreath have faded to a dull brownish green

and simply exchanging the dried roses with wilted sunflowers

creates a fall look in the entry.

I am far from finished with fall decor, but I'm inspired - these napkins are my next project and they won't be on the table.

I'm scouring Instagram and Pinterest for ideas for a new sign to hide the television.

How about you - are you transitioning to fall?

....    ....    ....    ....    ....    ....    ....    ....

Now it's time to head over to Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson to see what fabulous ideas Jann has for you.

Be sure to visit all 23 blogs for great fall inspiration.

  5. Carol, loving your subtle touches of fall. Your Lantana looks pretty in the bucket. Love the sunflower pillow and the napkins.

I'm itching for fall. It's been a terrible summer in NJ. Hazy, hot, humid and rainy.

    Enjoy your day

  12. Thanks for the great ideas. I can always count on you for inspiration :) I'm so busy canning and cleaning after our two week visit with our granddaughters that I have only started to think about Fall. I have never in my life missed a weekly cleaning day, but while they were here I decided to just enjoy :) We had a marvelous visit and now it's time to do some deep cleaning, LOL. Thanks for the great ideas.
    Have a happy week.
    Connie :)

  16. Carol I just love how you incorporate flowers into your decor and simply change out containers to evoke seasonal changes. I have just fallen in love with the little wilted sunflowers you have shared. I am going to go see if I can find some spent sunflowers somewhere or buy some and let them wilt since I don't have any sunflowers. I am going to plant some for next year.
Thank you so much for joining the tour! Enjoy all of the beautiful dreamy coastal summer weather while it lasts!

  30. Carol. everything is beautiful as always. Blue and white with your touches of red are just made for fall colors, I think. I have to say again, I just love your photos. I am beginning to change over to fall in the house as the garden has whether I was ready for it or not. This is one season that I don't mind rushing a little bit and hoping that it stays a little longer..Happy Wednesday..Judy

  31. Lovely simple changes, Carol. Like you, fall is a long way off for us, and the hot temps don't make me think of cozy fall evenings. Still, I love fall and the russet colors. I've packed my patriotic things away, and like you, using flowers to offer a change. Sunflowers and zinnias are my current choice!

  41. Good morning, Carol! Thanks for visiting my blog post! Yes, looking at the positive side of life, taking a drink from a glass half full so to speak, is the best way to go, isn't it! Hey, you haven't had to clean house for a while, so that is a blessing! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Love all your fall transitions and the yellow flowers! I love Lantana.. had some beautiful ones in my garden last year, but not this year.. mine were all peach and yellow and pink... just wonderful! I'm curious what you're going to do with those napkins! I'm going to go take a trip to the other blogs now... finally have time as have had company (again) and the preparation time beforehand.... so now can take some time and browse all the wonderful Fall blogs. I haven't done a thing for Fall yet.. as we're still in the heat wave here... and really no Fall flowers to speak of here. Maybe in October I will make some of the plaid flannel pumpkins I've wanted to make for YEARS... and put them on m f/p mantle!! I'm a little slow to the draw! Hugs.. Marilyn

  46. I love visiting your blog. I feel so land locked in North Texas and hardly ever get to visit the seaside. I grew up in DE and we always went to the beach a few times each summer. When I was in the Navy I was stationed in San Diego for a tour and loved CA.
