Vintage Gardens

Welcome to the Vintage Gardens Blog Hop

organized by Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home .

You may be visiting me after stopping at Poofing the Pillows -

a visit with Stacey is always fun.

Welcome to our garden - this time of year, if we're not on the beach then you'll find us in the garden.

I might be reading

or we might be diniing al fresco.

Steve spends most of his garden time right here on the Group W bench*.

One of my favorite vintage pieces in the garden is this rusty old table.

I bought it a local antique store to pair with cast iron chairs - hand me downs from a friend who was moving to the mountains.

The metal baker's rack has seen better days, but I still love it - found at a local thrift shop.

The Group W bench* was a freebie from a neighbor who asked us if we would take it off his hands.

This $1 rickety wood bench has been in the garden for years,

but it got an update a few months ago and now it adds a fun pop of color to the wall of ivy.

The chair was a street find - no seat, but I had the perfect sized basket in the attic.

The ladder was a thrift shop find, but grandpa's garden tools are truly vintage

as is his old watering can.

His pitchfork makes a great hanger for the old sap bucket and adds height to the garden.

This little antique store ladder is a favorite and I tend to move it all over the garden to hold plants.

I love the old wheelbarrow, another street find, because the flowers add color against the back fence.

Steve found this little rocker on the street the other day - don't know what I'll do with it or where I'll put it,

but it will fit right in with all the other old junk in our garden.

Before I send you off to visit Shannon at Belle Bleu Interiors, I thought I should explain the meaning of "Group W Bench".

It's a line from the Arlo Guthrie song, Alice's Restaurant and it refers to the bench where they sent all the crazy people during draft induction.

And now it's time to check out the rest of the blogs on the vintage garden tour.

Tote Bag Winner

Thanks for the great response to my last post and giveaway A Fun Collaboration.

The winner of the tote bag is #8

There will be another tote bag giveaway in late September after our family reunion.

I ironed on the transfer and the bag turned out really cute, but I'm still not showing off the finished tote.

A Fun Collaboration

Periodically I get requests for collaboration, but it is rare when the timing is right.

When I was asked by StickerYou.Com about a collaboration, the timing was perfect.

Painting by Steve Cook

In September, my family is having a 4 day reunion on Catalina Island.

When I saw that StickerYou.Com could make iron on transfers, I thought it would be fun to make a tote bag for each of the 12 families.

I designed a logo in PicMonkey and used the easy StickerYou.Com website to upload and place my order.

I ordered a dozen 15"X16" cotton canvas tote bags from Amazon.

The transfers were simple to use and came with a easy to follow sheet of instructions-

peel off the transfer, lay it on the tote bag, place the parchment paper on top, iron it on

 and voila, a tote bag.

It will be fun to see all of us on the beach with our totes.

As you can see, I ordered stickers for water bottles too and I promised Steve that we will buy the water on the island and not drag 19 bottles of water with us on the boat.

While I was placing my order, I added in 2 of the motivational quote iron on transfers the company offers.

I'm giving away this 13.5" X 13.5" tote bag - the dried flowers would get crushed in mailing, but I will include some fun personalized goodies.

Leave a comment if you're interested in the Giveaway - I'll use Random.org to choose a winner on July 18.

I will be doing another post in late September after the reunion to show pics of beautiful Catalina Island and also what we (my sister is creating something amazing) put in each bag.

I won't show you now what the bag says, but here's a sneak peek of the colors.
