9 Months Later

Nine months after our home was photographed for Country Sampler magazine the summer issue was released - it's fun to look back at how our home looked then because so much has changed.

The buoys are back on the fence and a tree now stands in place of the bench.

The red chairs have been painted blue, but surprisingly, the plate racks look much the same.

The kitchen shelves are still filled with blue and white dishes, but the display in the entry cabinet is not so colorful.

Considering my love or red, white and blue, it is surprising that neither of the bedrooms is done in bold colors right now.

The Adirondack chair holds the same pillow, but the basket of flip flops has been painted white and my cosmos plants are not so big and vibrant this summer.

There are a lot of fun ideas in this issue and they sent me a few extra copies so I'm doing a Giveaway.

Please leave a comment if you want your name included in the Giveaway.

In order to receive the package before July 4,

I'll draw a name on Wednesday, June 27.

And don't be surprised if there are a few patriotic items included in the package.

  1. Carol, I am going to buy one of those magazines. I will keep it with the one that Kris of JunkChicCottage was in. You girls are awesome. I love all the old trucks. Your article is so summertime. Congrats to you and Steve. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thanks for your sweet words!

This is our second magazine feature and probably our last. Sadly, the company that asked has multiple magazines under one umbrella and their rule is that you cannot have been in another magazine.

When I finish in the attic - had to come downstairs before I passed out from heat stroke, then the next huge project is painting the fireplace white.

Just fun to look back and see how far we have come with our decor. This is so sweet and awesome for you. Very happy you are in this issue. Congrats.

  29. Hi Carol, your Give-A-Way is a wonderful idea. I do have the magazine already and when I was looking through the pages of your charming cottage by the sea, I had this warm feeling of visiting a friend's home. We found each other early on in my life as a blogger and old friends are the best. As a young girl in Girl Scouts we used to sing a song that went, Make new friends, but keep the old, for one is silver and the other is gold.
Please leave by name out of the give-a-way, I would feel guilty having two copies when others had done, but do sign the copies you give away, that is the only thing that I would chance about mine. You are a sweet and generous blogging friend . . . Congratulations on having such a beautiful spread in this magazine. Your home is a gem :)

    1. I was a Camp Fire Girl and we sang that same song.

I remember exactly when we became blog friends and I cherish our long distance friendship.

thanks for the tip about signing the issue.

  32. Carol, I was so excited when I picked up a copy of Country Sampler. Another blogger I also follow, Judy, had said she was in it and I'd been hunting for it. Of course, I looked for her and then I stopped short when I saw all that wonderful blue and white and the paintings and it was YOU! I had no idea. I'll be including mentions of this on Marmelade Gypsy in my post going up on Tuesday. I'm thrilled for you and I loved every photo they shared -- and that you share. I don't always comment; I must do that more! But I'm often here! Cheers!

    1. Yes, Judy is in the issue. I knew that the photographers were headed north to the Sacramento area after the two day shoot at our house. I actually hopped on a plane to Sacramento right after the photo shoot. But, the photographers never mentioned who the next people were.

  36. How neat! I must have missed that you were featured in that magazine, which by the way, I've read and LOVED for years and years... way before they really displayed many entire homes.. there was just a page or two of one room and I ate it up! Just the idea of a cottage by the sea makes me all wiggly inside! I love the coast and the sea and cottages... and yours is always so fun to take a peek at! Please enter me in the give-away! Thanks..... Marilyn

    1. I have not seen the issue at my grocery store. They sent me 6, but I gave them to friends and family. I sent one copy to a friend who made one of the quilts in the living room. She was excited to see one of her quilts in a magazine.

I was down to mine and one for the giveaway and I just got another in the mail.

  40. I'll buy one, actually I glanced at the cover when I was in town and made a mental note to pick up when I was in again (I had already indulged in a treat that day). If I had known you were in it I would have ignored the one treat rule and snapped it up there and then.

    1. I laughed at the title. We were photographed for Cottages and Bungalows last year and what I really appreciate about both magazines is that they included Steve and his talents in the title.

I am waiting for friends to arrive for a little garden lunch. I am using the first tablecloth you sent me with bold red, blue and yellow. For flatware I'm using the red and yellow bakelite. It looks so pretty and it's a beautiful day in the garden. Last week we would have had to eat inside.
